I don't really mind having Carrick around per se, but going into the season with him as (seemingly) first choice is a mistake.
Just found out one of my maths teachers fell to his death in a mountaineering accident two weeks ago. All I can say is I guess he died doing what he loved. He was around 70 years old. Went out like a champ. RIP.
Might I suggest that in a way Pogba is being signed as the new (and, of course, improved) Carrick. A player that can play clever vertical passes from deep, switch defence to attack and attack from deep whilst carrying the ball. I think Mou ideally wants both CMs to be really energetic. I think he'll be inter-changing Carrick and Pogba, and put either Ander or Morgan next to them.
With all that said, I still think Pogba's best position is as one of the two CMs in front of a single pivot DM.
