It doesn't matter what the cost is. On Football Manager, when I buy a player for 10m and give an agent 3m and a sign on fee for the player of 2m and 15m comes out of my transfer budget... the transfer fee goes down as 10m.
Ronaldo's fee will have been a lot more than 80m. Bale's will have been a lot more than 86m. But what people count is the transactions between the two clubs, not clubs and players/agents. The only people it'll matter to is people who deal with United's balance sheet and Mino's estate agent when he orders him to buy Madagascar.

It absolutely matters when you're talking about his 'cost'.
Lemme put this in another way, drawing from something I did this year.
Let's say the normal going rate for a movie ticket is 9 quids. When I go to the movies, I don't count car fuel to the cost, because it's insignificant and won't add much to that price unless it's a very long trip. (although it kinda is in Europe atm lol)
which is what I did for Deadpool.
I did something unprecedented, and quite frankly stupid :lol. I bought a PLANE TICKET! That cost approximately 170 pounds. There's absolutely no way I'm gonna go around saying WELL the movie sucked, at least I only paid 9 quids for it.
I WISH
United did something unprecedented here too by paying an agent what could only be described as a transfer fee by it's own. But unlike Deadpool, they won't regret this one bit :)
we're talking 20 million here, even if it ends up being merely 10, that's still quite a lot.

By Ricky Go To Post1) They didn't sign. Fininvest (Berlusconi's company) said they're selling the club to this Chinese group. It's the 4th time since 2015, never got through.1. Was under the impression that it had officially been signed which is why it was big news. Why would anyone make big news if it's not officially signed, then it's no different from all other times we heard about Asian investors buying Milan
2) The investing group is made of shady companies. One of those is China itself. Yes, the state of China. Why would China invest in a team that has always in the past 30 years, been the worst asset in Fininvest? And not only the worst, they never ever closed a year on profit. How? Well, Berlusconi needed people to vote for him and the team for financial benefits to help his more successful parts of the company. Now that he runs basically nothing, his heirs showed no interest in keeping AC Milan so they're selling it for..
3) 700 millions, more or less. And they said part of this money, 100m, will be invested on transfers. But… this money in supposed to go to Berlusconi, is he using the money they are giving to him to buy players for them? Why would he? This is either a shady backdoor deal or a move to keep fans happy, and everyone is eating this shit up. I just read the Gazzetta dello Sport, biggest sport newspaper in Italy, and they're saying the money won't be here for this transfer window anyway but for January. Soooo… how low can they go in the meanwhile? Will they just buy a stupidly expensive player and then..
4) And then China, again.
As you know my city's team was the first in Italy to be bought by Chinese investors. They came here with their money, shot a movie and a reality show in our city, bought some decent players, fought for playoffs to reach Serie B, opened a store in the city centre to sell jerseys and such. All good, right? Except this.
-Team failed to win the playoffs and underperformed the year later
-The movie they shot was shit (not that I care) and just a propaganda move
-They used their connections with Inter and "our" team to bring trainers from China to Italy and teach them how to do their job. They came here, got served as the new saviours of the city that once was great and full of factories, and then
-They left when they had enough. Yeah, just left. Debts everywhere, the store that was opened in April was closed on June (stupid move as there's nobody giving enough crap about the team to open a fucking store, you're not even in Serie B) and the team got destroyed as they didn't meet the criteria for playing next year. Bankrupcy filed, now we had to change the team's name and start from the lowest category, a bit like Parma.
To close this point, China just wants to expand and buy our knowledge. There's little money to be made in football, yes you can make the market in Asian countries bigger but that's that, and Milan has been in the shittiest form for a few years now (Allegri was the last manager to win something with them, imagine that).
Sorry for the long post.
TL;DR: Beware of China
2. The state of China investing in Milan is not strange at all. Their current president is a huge football fan and one of the reasons to why football is growing there and why they are trying to attract more players from Europe to China. I wouldn't be surprised if they also make a loss from clubs in China but I don't see why the state or the chinese companies would care. For the president it's a hobby, for the companies it's an opportunity to own a globally known name and they probably see this is a good chance for business which may not necessarily be related to the club or football itself.
3. What you said isn't surprising and I wasn't expecting any transfer money to arrive in this transfer window. If they are serious about investing in Milan then we'll likely see some change in January if lucky or otherwise next summer. If nothing happens next summer I think it's safe to assume it's gone the same way it did for their city rivals.
4. Agree on four, which mainly goes back to point 2. I think most Chinese investors don't really care about the football but non-football things, and big clubs can be used as a good cover for that. Not sure how much will change with the state being involved in the purchase of Milan if it goes through but I'm not holding my breath.
What a disgusting sport. I sympathize with you Ricardo
But Yurt, you are the only one counting that money. The cinema only counts the 9 quid. The airline only counts the price of the ticket.
Juventus will only be counting the money they receive, and that is the transfer fee between the two clubs.
I get where you are coming from, but in the end Pogba's transfer goes down as the fee between the clubs and the clubs alone, just like every other transfer ever.
Let's say you gave Dani Alves a couple mil signing on fee, and his agent the same. It still qualifies as a free transfer - and will go down as such - because no money went to the other club.

United will count the total cost of the operation FOR SURE, but not Juve obviously. We studied Chelsea's disastrous expense report a few years ago, and you'd be shocked at the countless hidden costs they had
we might deduct whatever Mino siphoned off the fee though :lol I dunno who ended up giving him that money, it should be us.

Best way to do it is how the club would actually do it, which is amortisation.
£89 million fee + £20ish million Raiola fee + £65 million over the life of Pogba's 5 year contract and divide it over the 5 years (if it is that) he's at the club.
Which makes it about £35 million a year.

By Laboured Go To PostWhich makes it about £35 million a year. That's a lot of coin.
I know United will count the entire cost of the operation. Just like every football club counts the cost of every signing on fee and agents fee they've ever paid.
Doesn't make one bit of difference to the transfer fee here, which is what was originally reported. If we give Juventus 89 million and give Mino 89.1 million and the best handjob he's ever received, the transfer fee is still 89 million. That's how the perception of transfer fees work.

All transfers are done like this, yeah. Which makes for pretty reading, but when compared to other transfers you'll see the big difference.
again, Pogba is absolutely worth it. He's 23, world class and more marketable than Will Smith.

2) What profit can they make if not related to club or football? Politics? Non-economic profit? Owning and paying for Milan is a hobby that only the 0.0001% can have, and Berlusconi was one of them.
3) They're still tied to FFP, like Inter is. Inter didn't do bad under Thohir, it's now that thing look a bit weird. It only depends on how much patience they have (and investors don't have, usually) and how much they will actually spend for the package (seems a bit high).
4)Time to go live in New Zealand or Japòn.

nobody will report 89.1 instead of 89 because in my shoddy example that was the fuel money, it's insignificant. They could get away with lumping those under another category all together
but what if that handjob cost 25? Like my plane ticket.
and most of all, my dignity
you can't put a price on that
edit: sorry I see you meant 89.1 for Mino + the fee. That's crazy :lol, handjob clause aside. I mean sure, websites and top 10 lists will neglect Mino's fee, maybe? But I doubt they'll in this. They've mentioned it countless of times during the last month *skullface*

Pogba this. Pogba that. You still have the likes of Rooney at the club, ready to stunt the growth of many other players.
90m for Higuain is questionable on so many levels. Pogba looks like the deal of the century in comparison.
Anyone who makes a fuss about how much a club spends is looking to shit talk and isn't innovative at all. It's obvious envy.
Talk down about the clubs who can afford to spend and choose not to.

He went for slightly more than what Suarez went for at 27. He's a 28 y/o world class striker who scored 91 goals over the last 3 seasons for Napoli, 41 (!) alone last season.
Release clauses are always always inflated as hell to drive away the vultures, we've weakened the closest rival to us in the process and gained something we've been missing since 2006. For us, that was absolutely worth wasting most of that Pogba money on.
