By GQman2121 Go To PostThe budget for tonight's opening ceremony is 1/10 of what the UK paid four years ago.probably a bit of both. Costs in general are a lot lower than in London, I would imagine.
Them scrappy Brazilians know how to stretch a dollar. Or their officials are more corrupt and all have new homes and cars.

And Beijing definitely spent more than London did.
What progress we've made in penny pinching

My Sports Illustrated had a little section about "What to Watch" during this deadzone period of sports. The option was Opening Ceremony or Simpsons on FXX. They said watch the Simpsons because Homer goes on a hunger strike beats athletes on parade.

I've been rewatching a lot of Futurama lately, and this is really starting to stick out at me.
A quick recap:
Leela first thought Zapp was a legend and went on a date with him. She quickly sees that he's a moron. Zapp still ends up tricking her into pity sex, which he gloats about the next day. From then on, Zapp and Leela's interactions together tends to be about "Hey, I tricked you into having sex so we're technically former lovers." It's not that tricking somebody to have sex with you under false emotional pretenses is necessarily textbook-rape, but it is gross. It is gross in an unfunny way. So it just feels weird to see how much it is used as a punchline in the tv series. I never really hear people bring this up though. Am I overreacting?
