lmao
Nick Kyrgios has crashed out of the US Open in all-too-familiar fashion, losing his cool at anything and everything in a lively straight-sets first-round defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut.
Struggling to adjust to New York’s intense humidity and tennis’s strict new Covid protocols, Kyrgios overheated in more ways than one during a 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 loss to Spain’s dogged 18th seed. He also took aim at “bogans” in his box for being “the only ones in here wearing masks”.
But Kyrgios’ biggest gripe was the placement of the towels inside the vast Louis Armstrong Stadium, and needing to walk “too many steps” to wipe down as he sweated profusely in the stifling midnight heat on Monday.
The global pandemic has led to officials no longer allowing ball people to handle players’ towels, prompting Kyrgios to rant and rave with chair umpire Carlos Bernardes after receiving a code violation for exceeding the shot clock between points.
“So I have to walk back to the box to wipe my arms because I’m sweating and I get a time violation but someone can go to the bathroom for 20 minutes and it’s OK? Explain it to me. It doesn’t make any fucking sense,” Kyrgios said.
“My job is to come out here and play, for the people. Not to walk back and forth to my towel. It’s not my job. It’s my towel. I should be able to put it wherever I like on the court, really.”
When Bernados interjected to remind Kyrgios that “it’s part of the game”, the hot-head erupted.
“It’s not part of the game,” Kyrgios said. “So texting someone’s part of the game, too? Taking 20-minute bathroom breaks is part of the game? That’s part of the game. Everything’s part of the game. I need to take a shit. Ah, part of the game. It’s fucking stupid.”
She's class. First saw her during battle of the brits exhibition back when covid first hit, knew she was a talent but didn't quite expect this rise.

Not even been taken to a TB. Quite incredible really.
Wonder if history will regard him as the goat, cos I feel like nobody does right now even if he is objectively

They'll be a new goat in 20 years.
Long time in tennis
Aesthetically Federer will always be remembered as the best. Most complete game of the big three. And for pure brutality Nadal will forever be unmatched.
Djokovic will be at least three or four GS ahead of the former.by the time he retires. But he's never been as liked as them.

I think an issue with djok is he's not had to fend off a new younger superstar in the last 5 years and as such the last 8 or so slams have come in an uncompetitive era with Rafa and Fed past their best. Where as they had djok (and Murray to lesser extent) coming up when they were djoks age.
Anyway he's got to get past Sacha tonight who's looked in top form this Open and if any of the next gen are truely going to step up it will be him if he ever puts it all together. Think he might upset the apple cart tonight.

Djokovic will probably win three or four more Grand Slams before his career is over and by that point anyone doubting him as the greatest of all-time is having a laugh, if not right now. The dude is a total cunt but so was Michael Jordan and he's been seen as the GOAT for years.
I prefer Federer myself but come on lol.

More people "cared" about tennis during the Fed era. So I do think he'll be viewed upon more fondly at least until everyone dies.
Djoker definitely will end up the GOAT unfortunately, I hate the man but yeah.
His failure at the Olympics is something he will regret for ages but I think it won't matter in the grand scheme

I wish there was a way they could both lose.
Channel 4 really doing good work lately.
Prime coverage annoys me as after 10 mins of watching the sound goes out of sync for me.
