By Cleff Go To PostWilliams is historically a bad loser so this should come as no surprise to anyone. Just another case of her looking for excuses.Historically bad loser? She's historically bad against shit ref calls and has had a history with incidents like that. Wouldn't say she's a bad loser as much as she is sensitive against anything she deems as unfair due to those experiences. She made no excuses for losing against Osaka, she didn't make it and she admitted even in a perfect situation it would've been hard for her to win because Osaka was "really, really good" in Saturday.
What's really disappointing is the media, who are supposed to be objective, falling over themselves to make this a much larger issue and taking Serena's side. She's an entitled shit.
Now does she get a good rant in? Oh yeah she doesn't play around with some of them. But this was tame compared to her outbursts in the past.

She had three opportunities to comport herself like a professional tennis player should and she flouted the rules again. Why should she be so shocked she received a penalty? Why should she be above the rules?

And what you call "a good rant" is actually threatening behaviour. She was called on a fault fault in the 09 US Open and then threated to "shove this fucking ball down your fucking throat" to the line referee who called the fault. That was another final where she was losing badly and resorted to these tirades to deflect. So what if it was tame compared to previous outbursts? She knows what she's doing.

It isn't about being above the rules, it's about being treated like everybody else. Other players have done worse and the umpire has not given the penalties he did in that final. She made her claim against the 'coaching' and it standing despite her appeal was poorly communicated. When something so commonplace is let go for other players, and you get pinged for it, you're going to get upset. It's so easy for you to say she should've kept her cool when you're not the one playing for a championship in your home slam. If anything, the umpire should've kept his. He could've used warnings to deescalate the situation, but instead he put gasoline on the flames. Tell me she carries on the same way if he doesn't accuse her of needing coaching.

He didn't accuse her of needing coaching he accused her coach of coaching which he did and admited to it.
they both handled it poorly... he decided to make an example out of her, when the sport had allowed many to act out... She went off instead of trying to remain cool.

Yep. Too bad Nishikori ain't clutch at all.
Saw the highlights of Tomic vs Tsonga and it made me annoyed that Tomic is even allowed to play professional tennis.

By Kidjr Go To PostAnyone watching wimbledon, I'm enjoying womens tennis far more than mens atm.Yep
(Yep I'm watching, nope to the women's comment)
Coco is literally something else, how do you even fucking return on those serves at 15. Literally witnessing greatness as we speak.
How many times can we watch Djokovic, Federer and Rafa tear through everyone else. It's great, really is, I'm not tired of watching the greatness but find the competitiveness or lack of a bit stale.

The women's game is typically more exciting as the men's game has just evolved into baseline wallops
Bit weird. You need at least 48 points to win a woman's match. Expect most people would get at least 1, even if they were through unforced errors.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostI’m surprised this tactic isn’t used more often:People that whine about stuff like this or underarm serves are the worst
By FortuneFaded Go To PostI’m surprised this tactic isn’t used more often:Honestly never knew this and I played for my national team as a kid. But it makes sense from a rules stand point. That was a extremely cunty move though. Definitely not professional etiquette. If you are really annoyed you will aim for an opponent though that rarely happens.
So many unforced errors from Williams. Halep just needs to keep the ball in play and wait for Serena to dump her shot in the net.
I don't want to take anything away from Halep. She's been excellent and had Williams on a string in that first set. But Williams imploded in the second set.

Federer needed to win that first set. He had chances to break Djokovic in the set and then he was two points up and on serve in the tie break.
Djokovic's level has dipped at the start of the second. Federer desperately needs this second break. And he gets it. Hold his serve and he's 4-0 up.
