How do I enable the new text editor? I'm talking about the technologically advanced one. For some odd reason every time I post the old one pops up.

By 11guyPost count before I click a thread, I don't want to be clickbaited into wasting my time, I want to genuinely know if there is something genuinely interesting going on.Just to be clear: this isn't going to be there for every thread for performance reasons. I could be talked into some sort of AJAX thread count if you hover over it or something.
By SharpWaaat. Cool, I second any plead (pretty please?) for AJAX thread count if you hover over it or something. Let us turn up all the way in proper fashion minus the negativity.
By psychintellectYes, in modern databases COUNT(*) is not cheap (in less modern databases it just wasn't accurate). I have looked extensively for ways to make it cheap and accurate without causing a ton of locking, but with our forum design that isn't likely to happen. I think the post count on hover solution is a good compromise (it could also expand out a list of pages when you did it, you have much more freedom at that point).By SharpWaaat. By SharpTotally didn't know that. Thanks for the explanation. Does the same go for displaying the user's post count in a profile page?By psychintellectYes, in modern databases COUNT(*) is not cheap (in less modern databases it just wasn't accurate). By psychintellectNah, in a profile page we can display all kinds of statistics (it's a onetime computation). We just haven't done much work with profiles yet because it's not as high priority as a lot of other stuff.By SharpTotally didn't know that. Thanks for the explanation. If we're being picky for stuff like the mobile I'd prefer to see the last poster displayed than the thread creator.

I'll wait....
Is there anyway to fix search? Every time I search for a post, find it, and click on it it does not take me to the original post. Yes, I'm complaining a lot but no offense meant at all.

Yes, I'm complaining a lot but no offense meant at all.Yes, this will be fixed soon. It's been a longstanding issue. The tl;dr: the way the forum is designed we can always reliably get you to the parent post, we just aren't exposing it yet in the UI yet (this also extends to being able to easily do things like "who quoted me"... hopefully also coming soon :)).
By DominicanPowerWhere's the multi-quote function?Its already there
Not perfect but its there. Quote, close reply box, quote.
By DominicanPowerWhere's the multi-quote function?Multiquote already works. Just hit the X after you quote someone and hit the quote icon again. I just need to update the UI to make that more intuitive, which will come with the new editor.
By reiloSeems fine now, I just restarted my laptop, lolBy FreewheelinI can't seem to paste any links when I post :/Browser and device?
Chrome and Macbook Air for future reference btw

Maybe one of the Footy people should get mod powers to deal with such emergencies.
I nominate that Pele/Maradona guy he seems cool.

We'll see.
Just wait till Reilo implements levels of moderation, if he agrees with me. One thing GAF really failed to do was have a better hierarchy. Bunch of shit could have been squashed if they had really low level mods to basically do janitor work/warn assholes and impose bans. And their bans could be restricted to a day or whatever and then lengthened or reversed by an admin or the moderation team.

Fucking hell. From lurker to user to mod in less than a month.
I think an e-mail verification/admin user activation step would be more useful.

P. sure reilo knocked that out a couple hours after Dont Plays' return.
would be lovely if the mods can IP ban someone. It would prevent trolls and alts.
I loved how easy it was to register, but yeah, clearly we have some petulant children out there that don't deserve to be treated like adults.
again, sorry about all of this, I know it kinda paints a bad picture about our community, but this guy was the exception, we usually don't require modding at all.

Unfortunately IP banning isn't the end-all-be-all solution, either. Email verification should keep most of them at bay. If need be, we'll figure out much harsher solutions that successfully keep people that are intent on being destructive out.
Not sure if I mentioned this already, but a small cool down on the posts you can make would be nice. Maybe just a few seconds. Because I quite often manage to accidentally double or triple post, and I see many others do the same. Thanks.
Also good work on that email verification. Don't laugh sure was more... Special, than I thought. We will probably get a few more like that in with football GAF, we were a big community with a few idiots that ended up getting permad from GAF for actual good reasons.

Reilo, sorry to ask again but I would want an answer from you about this:
By ElcheleAny plans to integrate webm/gfycat in the forum? So we can drop the gigantic gifs, specially for posting goals, plays, etc. Considering this forum is mostly about sports and all.
Example: http://www.bayernzone.com/german-football/83-vfl-wolfsburg-58.html#post408608
Yea, I can. It can be an extension I add to the new editor. I just need to do some research what it would entail. It shouldn't be too difficult.

That's great. Thanks!
You know how some forums allow users to give reps or karma or up/downvotes for posts? Can we have cookies for when you wanna condescendingly give someone props?

Cooldown annoys me everywhere I've seen it implemented.
