By Vini.lad Go To PostReilo my boiYeah, it's been a known issue that we haven't been able to track down. It is certainly tops on my list of things to fix once I can figure out exactly what about embedded tweets causes it.
For a couple of weeks now I'm having a weird shaking here on the screen. Only happens on slaent. People think whats causing that is embbed tweets.
I'm on Windows 10 and Chrome. It's really annoying that.
A toggle for embeds would be a nice temp fix, if possible. Can also avoid hundreds of laboureds insider transfer tweets then
My gut tells me it's the go to last post anchor.
In short, the web-page isn't fully rendered the moment that you get placed onto the last unread post. The browser is only fast/good enough to render the content that's in the HTML directly including the CSS. Embedded media and such such loads asynchronously for performance because you don't want to load ALL of the content at once because it might block the rest of the page, so I have it set to only load as you scroll past it. This is especially useful on mobile.
The drawback is that the page probably jumps about a bit as the content above you (and now invisible to you) is loading while you're past the top of the page because the last unread link placed you somewhere below.
An improved solution for that would be to completely prevent the embedded media to load until you actually scroll up or down to it, but that's a bit tougher affair. We also don't control the embed framework as that's provided to use by a third-party, so it will take some re-engineering to accomplish it.

i have the same issue on both the iphone and the mac. makes the site almost impossible to browse, especially when united fans are posting fifteen tweets regarding the same story (not a joke).

Almost definitely is.
I propose we move this thread to the Entertainment section because reilo obviously gets some sick entertainment from reading about our issues.
Y'all considered reducing the forum to just life and entertainment?
At this point, not seeing the point of 3 different sections(or subsections).

By Kidjr Go To PostI've probably ask for this before but it would be cool if we could @ people. What do you want out of this? Do you want it integrated with the "Who Quoted Me?" feature? Or were you thinking of your username being highlighted in the text of a post you are reading? Or something else?

Yeah sometimes you dont wanna quote someone but get at them, think it would be a pretty cool feature. Guess it would make sense for the user to be notified.
It'd be great if we could get alerts/notifications as its own section at the top of the page like on xenforo forums.

Maybe a side project but how could would it be if we had a bot that was built around an NLP/Sentiment type machine learning that would recommend us topics it thinks we want to discuss.
I appreciate the latest request may be a step too far but I'm here for it.
By Laboured Go To PostI think reilo should build us all our own personal sexbots. Can we get them modelled after Slaent members? I want to ruin Penny’s asshole.

By Kidjr Go To PostKibner to usurp relio and smartain't no one here remotely skilled enough to overtake sharp, i can tell you that much lmao
also, this will serve as experience with react that i don't get in my paying job, so it's for my own benefit, too

By Kidjr Go To PostShould I delete me cookies if my threads wont jump to last read?Your last read posts aren't stored in cookies, but on the server. Unfortunately, when the server has a restart like it did last night, it "forgets" what posts you had read last.
KidJr there is a way around it
Create a folder on your desktop named SLAENT (in caps)
Open Ms paint, draw 4 lines on the blank page, all horizontal, save file as mp4 and name it "remember last post" (if it can't save as mp4, then you'll have to try png)
Restart your pc, open the mp4(or png) and then continue browsing

We are back!
This update is mostly behind the scenes. I had to spend quite a bit of time getting us caught up with some behind-the-scenes stuff including vast amounts of updates to the framework we use, applying security fixes, etc. Along with that, a reworking of our internal mod tools to make admins life easier.
Beyond that, however, there was also:
Let me know if y'all see any bugs.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Beyond that, however, there was also:
- I finally fixed that hyper annoying bug when typing on mobile. You can now properly select text again.
- We now have post drafts! That means, yes, indeed, Zabo finally gets cross-page quoting. It will remember your post on your browser locally until you submit a post.
Let me know if y'all see any bugs.
Happy Thanksgiving!
To clarify:
- Drafts are specific to a thread and a forum
- If you type up a post to one thread it will remember it (at about a 2 second interval) for a given thread
- New threads will also be saved to a draft for a specific forum until you submit
- I'll look into adding some UI related things to indicate a post that is a draft-in-progress
