Sweet!
Saving drafts would be fab.
@ mentions would also be great.
And mobile bandwidth usage controls (disable GIFs, show images as links, etc)
Allow PNG avatars with certain constraints.
And inline edits (rather then loading a distinct page).
Will add these to github.

You can turn off images and even cover images by clicking on your avatar at the top of every page. Cover images via front page.

I still see some cover images even with the "hide cover images" switch (it's also on the profile page)
When images are hidden it would be great if the link to the image is made active.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I noticed a few in Github as well. I’ll keep everyone up to date on progress.

Hard to give data on what our site stats look like post-GAF scandal since it's still too early to get a baseline out there, but I estimate thus far we've seen a 5-10x increase in traffic.

By Alcotholic Go To PostThanks, its kinda cool to see this little forum gaining some traction.
It really is. Hope it continues organic growth

I know some people are hoping that the site traffic continues to grow, but I'm hoping it doesn't get too big. Yes, I want be a part of an active community (and I'm trying to do my part), but if it becomes too active, inevitably, that kind of atmosphere is conducive to knee-jerk reactions and shit-posting. A lot of this is due to the increasing pressure some posters begin to feel when their voices get drowned out due to so many other opinions being shared in close proximity to each other; they want to be heard, and so they become more vocal, even at the expense of putting more thought into a post before posting.
I could probably draft an entire sociology essay on the cultures and niches of Internet forums, but suffice to say that I'm fine with this forum being relatively low-key and it's one of the reasons I've decided to stay here and not, some place like resetera.
Of course, if this place blows up, it won't be the end of the world, but it would certainly take out a lot of the charm that this place has for me.
Do you mean the “Early Access” flag? Nothing is using it at the moment but there will be features in the future that might, eg live threads.

Yea, I meant that. Cool, I'll leave it up. I wasn't sure if you were still looking for feedback on things (if you were using it).
By reilo Go To PostSome stats, if this helpsThat's quite a spike. Shame many just left for resetera completely.

But brainchild is probably right.
I can't say I miss visiting GAF constantly. There was sort of a need all the time because you might miss something or whatever but I don't miss that. The pace here is pretty nice.
Whoa, I didn't realize how small the number of registered users here was before what happened at GAF or how big the increase was.
I notice the slower pace when I check back in and see no new posts in a topic, but it's cool that posters don't feel the need to constantly post if there's nothing to say.

Sorry for the downtime, had to upgrade us to a newer version of Postgres in preparation for the new search features.
Nice new update... however I have a minor bug.
- When hit the foursquare thing to bring up the Welcome Screen, I tested some of the links. The Twitter, Steam, and Discord open to new tabs. The Twitch does not.

Okay thanks.
Also, I'm aware of the images not loading right now. Looking into it. Not sure wtf is up.

Just FYI, if you open search then close it then the other buttons in the top left cease to function properly.
By Laboured Go To PostJust FYI, if you open search then close it then the other buttons in the top left cease to function properly.I am not noticing this behavior. Can you explain further? Browser? OS?
By reilo Go To PostI am not noticing this behavior. Can you explain further? Browser? OS?
Windows 10 / Firefox (presume latest version)
So if I go to use the search function then close it, then many other functions become unusable. If i press, say, SL&ENT in the top-left or even just try to use the quote function to post then the screen dims and the forum shrinks away (like it does when you press search) but nothing comes up to click on. Very odd.
I then have to refresh to fix it.
Okay let me take a look! Does it happen if you click on the Menu?
EDIT: Okay, was able to duplicate it. Give me a minute.

No, doesn't cause the same problem.
Okaaay. So, that was a lot. And a lot of months of work.
To highlight:
- New Search. Now you can search by thread title, poster, date, whatever
- Tweaked Navigation UI. This should provide better context of how to access your profile and a down button
- New Menu. Similar in style to the new search, the menu has a much better use of where things are on the website
- Keyboard shortcuts courtesy of Kibner. You can now use cmd or ctrl + b/u/i/etc to quickly wrap your highlighted text via the keyboard.
- Tweaked homepage. I made the forum links more button like and smaller so you can see the recent threads quicker.

Nice changes. I thought the keyboard shortcuts were going to work more seamlessly like in the last editor or on other sites. Not that I don't appreciate it Kibs.

By Kibner Go To PostLet me know what issues you have with it so I can iron them out.No issues! I just thought that instead of wrapping things in tags, they would work a la Microsoft Word/Tumblr/previous editor/etc
Also, is there any way to get to the thread from the search results? I can only access the post and even editing the url doesn't get me to the thread's first page. A 'go to thread' button would be cool.
fake edit: looks like clicking the post will lead you to the thread but for some posts it doesn't? example: http://slaent.com/thread/130217/page/1/#p130223
I think to make things show up as bold in the current editor, it would need to change to be rich text instead of plain text. Not sure what the implications that would bring, other than potentially a fuck ton of work.
Since no refresh button available yet, I do not like the new mobile setup where I have to press the ‘home’ button then click home to go back to main page. Unless I’m a lil faded an not seeing an alternative

By Elchele Go To PostYeah s home button before the 4square would be good. Great update reilo and co.It gets SUPER tightly cramped on mobile with all of the buttons. I will refine it in the future but I need to sit on it for a day or so.

Okay keyboard shortcuts should be tweaked now, and you can use CMD/CTRL+Enter or ALT+s to submit a post.
So last post is new right?. Or maybe I'm blind and have never noticed it before. Anyway I'm guessing it's desktop only atm but I'm seeing the name of the last poster but next to is the avatar of whoever made the thread.
By s y Go To Posttumblr editorOh, I see. Will take a look. Same issue as who quoted me, since it's a reply to a reply of a thread, if that makes sense.
