Bob Ford hates Hinkie (because he doesn't talk to anyone and forces Bob...to actually work so I don't think that part is true. Ford was the same guy who said we would trade up for Wiggins and also that Bennett was going to be traded here for Thad. Wrong both times. Dude has no sources.

By reiloWestern Conference scout on Mozgov:They gave up a lot for him though. When I heard two first round picks, I said ‘Wow.’ It’s not that I don’t like him and I understand that he is under contract at reasonable money for next season. But we’re not talking about a franchise-type center. He’s not even the defensive-minded guy I think that Kevin Love needs to play next to. But they needed to win now. LeBron probably wants to win now. It seemed a little desperate, but maybe that’s what they are.

Was reading Simmons' story on Grantland about Joe Flacco, and stumbled upon this gem:
:/
And because he was right and couldn't help himself:
He could have been describing Aaron Rodgers (read the Joe Cool section in Chris B. Brown’s recent Grantland story), Phil Mickelson, Madison Bumgarner, Tim Duncan … I mean, pick a name. The Tao of Joe Flacco makes sense. Don’t get high, don’t get low. Stay cool. Stay in the moment. Find that peace. For whatever reason, he can’t remain in that zone from September through December — that’s why Joe Flaccid made Barnwell’s Worst Contracts list as the NFL’s version of Deron Williams. But in the playoffs? Joe Flacco finds that zone. He finds that peace.
:/
And because he was right and couldn't help himself:
Looking back, I should have been more blunt and just owned it. Every instinct I had — confirmed from 40-plus years of watching basketball and attending games — told me that something looked unequivocally different about LeBron James. Common sense told me that Apex LeBron had gone to Apex Sports Heaven — not just because of LeBron’s insane amount of minutes/mileage/wear and tear from his first 11 seasons (especially these last four), but because it’s impossible to be ALL CAPS GREAT indefinitely. Nobody has pulled it off for more than a few years. Nobody. You can’t be the league’s best offensive player AND defensive player for eight months a year, every year, for a solid decade. Even the NBA’s G.O.A.T. walked away from professional basketball for 20 months, in his prime, because he was mentally and physically worn down.7 Real greatness has a shelf life.
And LeBron was really great for six seasons: the last two in Cleveland, then all four in Miami. He played 451 regular-season games, 112 playoff games and nearly 22,000 grueling minutes. He carried teams offensively, absorbed a ludicrous amount of punishment, then logged a superhuman two-way burden in every postseason. He averaged nearly 43 minutes per game in Miami’s 67 playoff games from 2011 through 2013. During the lockout season, he played 85 games and more than 3,300 minutes in less than six months. Those are miles. Lots of them. And I don’t care who you are … that shit is gonna add up.
Apex LeBron’s shelf life ended last summer and that was that. LeBron James will never be quite the same. I watched it happen with Jordan, Bird, Magic, Duncan, Kobe, Julius, Malone, Barkley, Hakeem … you name it, they hit the exact same invisible tipping point that LeBron hit last June. It happens. It’s sports. It’s life.
And you know what? Here’s a case where I didn’t even need to research the numbers, even if nearly all of LeBron’s 2014-15 numbers back me up. For six solid years, you could have taken any non-NBA fan to any LeBron game — your mom, your 7-year-old son, a foreigner, an alien, whomever (as long as they were a blank slate with basketball) — watched 15 minutes and asked that person to pick out the best player. And I don’t care who else was out there. Every time, they would have pointed to LeBron. In 2015, that’s not a sure thing anymore. Depending on the night, they might point to Harden, Westbrook, Durant, Davis, Curry … I don’t know. That’s one of the best things about this season. It’s an Alpha Dog In Flux season.

Tons of people in today's NBA can't dribble. Tons of people in today's NBA can't pass. The Knicks just assembled a roster and realized that there's no one on that team past Melo and Calderon that has the dribbling or passing skills of a one Mr. Derek Fisher or Rick Fox.
For most players now defense is about filling into a scheme and offense is about standing at the 3 point line for a catch and shoot opportunity.
Wiggins was supposed to be raw as fuck, turns out he's more skilled than like 30% of the league.
By DominicanPower
Someone check on Knux. Goddamn Kemba, pass the fucking ball.
Jefferson is out, Neal is trash, Lance is out/trash. Plus he's surrounded on that list with tons of assist guys which tells me being high on the list isn't an indication of not-passing. He's shooting about 16.5 times a game, which is a lot for a PG, but not a lot when he's the only good player you have. For comparison's sake Lillard takes the same # of shots and he's got a better team.

No trust me it is worse on the Sixers..somehow..but yeah it is weird.
Shooting I get kinda but dribbling? If you are a wing its kinda mandatory you at least know how to do basic shit...not the guys we have apparently. KJ is super athletic and shit but who cares if he can even dribble enough to use it (his first step is also mediocre which doesn't help.
I shit on MCW a lot (and most of the time it is well deserved) but the fact that we are using him like he is a fusion of Jordan and LeBron can't be helpful.

Yea, I'm not going to argue that the Sixers suck lol.
But shooting is a mandatory skill now. Non-shooters rarely every get playing time. And most of the dribbling is done with 2 guards who just PnR all day on most teams so, most players don't need basic basketball skills anymore.

Re: Andrew Wiggins being raw, I think people undersold aspects of his game that are important at the NBA level.
His handle, it's okay, it's totally passable. He can take a couple dribbles and get into the lane or he can use it to back guys down. He has work to do yet, but it's not a disaster. He also had the strength and body control that are necessary for finishing in the paint against NBA guys. His stroke is nice, too, and repeatable and actually goes in the basket.
Maybe he just didn't show these things in college, I don't know, but Wiggins is definitely not raw.

In college, Wiggins couldn't do more than one dribble without losing control of his handle, he was out of control all the time due to his inability to get around defenders, he settled for a ton of garbage that he missed, he couldn't find open teammates, he missed most of his layups in the half-court, he scored almost all of his points on free throws and in transition.. He's dominant the last two weeks, but I'm still going to wait and see.

Brandon Wright to Suns for 1st rounder (top 12 protected 2 years then becomes 2 2nd rounders).

Wiggins is raw. A million and one scouts weren't wrong. The game has just changed. SF's aren't expected to play-make and beat their guys in 1 on 1 iso situations anymore. So by today's standards, he's a pretty polished prospect. Also, I'm high on Wiggins btw, but it might be wise to temper your expectations for his development.
It took Lebron 9 years to develop a polished post game. KD still doesn't really have one. The game doesn't require a mastery of every aspect of the game anymore. You just stay in your lane. I think his development is going to be frustratingly slow because with Ricky doing the bulk of the ball handling, he won't have to develop into a complete player to be effective.
