By MorisWho does Knicks age want out of this draft, and who is the FO eyeing at this point?I don't want Okafor or Russel bc they appear to be average defenders at best, I want Mudiay Towns or Johnson Maybe Stien if we fall in position. FO hasn't said much, they praised Okafor after Duke beat st johns though.
Someone add a panel to that Derrick Rose macro that says "when his soul is stuck in the Shadow Realm."

if the knicks get the first pick they are taking okafor..... if they don't I still think they take a big. For them to take somebody else means they expect that player to be a star

I could see Phil trading that pick for a player now. He's always been low on rookies, especially with how little their skills are developed these days.
There's a reason he picked Early and brought in Galloway (they're both 23 years old). I'd be surprised as all hell if Phil drafts a 19 or 20 year old if he can package that pick for a good player now because neither Phil nor Melo have the time to wait around.
And I know how this must sound to Knick Fans, after watching a damn decade of first round draft picks getting traded for the likes of Eddy Curry and Bargnani.
Byron and Thibs coached the end of that game as bad as humanly possible. What a disaster.
Stupid Rose. Starting to dislike the Bulls with the way Rose is playing.

No I agree with you on his approach to rookies. I noticed the trend of him looking at guys who became seniors in college, specifically because he wants guys who are smarter and more use to playing within a system vs. raw talent & potential.
However, I can't think of any team that would consider taking that pick (lets say its #1 or #2) that has a player who would be worth it except maybe for D Cousins. Especially when analyst are saying its a 4 man draft in terms of potential. If the knicks don't get number #1 (or maybe #2) I don't see any scenario where they find a trade that works.
Not to mention half the reason getting a promising rookie would be ideal is their contract would be small meaning the rest of the 30+ mil in cap space can be used on FA to fill the roster up. However, I am going to repeat what I said until the knicks know the drafting order I don't think they know exactly what they will do come FA or the draft.
By viakadobulls are on my shitlist.

lol. The Dragic discussion is hilarious.
When he's playing PG on his own he's an 20ppg & 7ast guy. He's not really a 16 & 4 PG.
He's also one of the most team orientated guys. He really wouldn't care about minutes on a team like the Hawks as long as he's winning. His sacrifice on stats as well as minutes is the only reason the IT thing works at all. I feel the Suns would be a better team with less IT and more Dragic, personally, and then giving whatever is left in minutes to Ennis or TJ Warren. But it is what it is.
If the Suns want him, and Dragic is happy here (which he is, though he seemingly gets frustrated playing behind IT at times) he's staying. He's still the best PG we have, and the best player. Morey can do what ever cap figures he wants, but the Suns can offer the most and out side Harden the Rockets have nothing the Suns would want to trade for.
There's no reason for Dragic to go to NY, that's just illogical. He's on the 3rd youngest team in the NBA who still have picks and assets, are in the play off's, Len is developing really well (If Hornacek would just start playing him 30mpg already plz). Why he would leave that for the disaster that is the Knicks I have NFI.
The team that would have the best chance of stealing him is the Hawks, their style of play, being in the East, and winning would be a massive draw. If they have the cap to do it. I don't think Goran is looking to do anyone any favours with his next contract, he's going to be wanting to get paid. Which is fair enough, he's really good. He was all NBA last year. He's relatively healthy.

I might be coming around on the "fire Scott Brooks now" movement.
This is the first time I've ever felt such bad vibes going on around this team, and the injury situation has only made it worse. Hell, maybe it just exposed underlying weaknesses with the roster and coach. In that sense it might be a blessing in disguise.
Regardless, changes need to happen. JVG, Mike Malone, or Alvin Gentry, come on down.

For Scott Brooks to be exposed would mean he was masquerading as a better than average coach. Scott Brooks has always been Scott brooks, a good player developmental coach who wasn't particularly good at anything else but the development of young talent.
With that said I could see the Thunder letting Scott go just because they are in Do or Die mode with Durant next season. I believe he wants to stay in OKC but they got to go deep in the playoffs or he might really leave.
See that's that thing I think people don't get
Do or die mode for Durant is this season, not next. How much evidence is needed for people to realize that fo takes no chances for a player to walk?

By giririssslol. The Dragic discussion is hilarious.I feel like I should keep up the rouse given that there's still 2 and half weeks to go, but with OKC failing to hold their end of the bargain and Howard's injury, I don't really have the energy to go all the way with it.
Something something but he doesn't play PG.. something something 3-way trade.. something something the Suns will take what they can get when Goran threatens to walk.
I didn't realise it at the time, since I was too worried about the Howard injury, but Hornacek benched Dragic after 18 minutes, and let IT play 38. I dunno what his thought process is, but to go from All-NBA most improved player who carried his team to the guy who gets benched/spots up in the corner while Isaiah 'DeMarcus Cousins thought I was a problem' Thomas runs his team, seems like it would kind of suck.
If he's fine with being under-utilised, then I don't see why he wouldn't be fine with staying put in Phoenix. It just seems like a shame to spend your prime as a second or third-fiddle when there are other teams out there who would love to play you in your rightful position.
By Dark PhaZeJeff Van Gundy and Zach Lowe argue about basketballI had this on in the background while I was doing something else, and all I wanted to say is that I don't agree that 'Best' is the same as 'Most Valuable'. Or rather, PER, points, rebounds, etc etc aren't the 'best' stats in comparison to the most important stat of all, which is winning. As a wise man once said "I could have had 50 and it wouldn't have mattered if we lost." I'm sorry that Davis is in the Southwest Division, and that Monty is his coach, and that he has garbage around him, but a player from a non-playoff team sitting at the bottom of their division isn't a legitimate candidate to me.

Yeah. Don't see him leaving Phoenix. They have his bird rights, and it's a 50 win team.
EDIT: Our off season priority would be to resign Millsap and extend Horford. Anyone else would be "nice to haves" anyway.
By Zeus Ex MachinaFor Scott Brooks to be exposed would mean he was masquerading as a better than average coach. Scott Brooks has always been Scott brooks, a good player developmental coach who wasn't particularly good at anything else but the development of young talent. What's really being exposed right now is his roster management. Stuff like continuing to start Roberson (a/k/a Thabo (Beta Version)), publicly saying guys are gonna earn their spots but continuing to play Dion over Reggie, playing Perk (at all, even against teams like the Cavs), burying Lamb in the deepest depths of the bench even though he's one of our only decent shooters...
With that said I could see the Thunder letting Scott go just because they are in Do or Die mode with Durant next season. I believe he wants to stay in OKC but they got to go deep in the playoffs or he might really leave.
I expect us to make a couple of trades before the deadline and offload the dead weight, but I'm not sure how much we'll get in return for it.
We could conceivably get Wilson Chandler and Brook Lopez with the assets we have (Reggie, Perry Jones, Lamb, Perk, Jerrett), and that's probably the best-case scenario (read: unlikely). Our rotation would look like:
YNB-Ish Smith
Morrow-Waiters-Roberson
KD-Chandler
Ibaka-Collison-McGary
Bropez/Adams
If KD and YNB stay healthy and we don't make the playoffs with that lineup, Brooks HAS to go. Even if we make the playoffs as an 8-seed and get smoked, he should go. This situation has exposed him.
