By reiloBy IWMTB19The only Rose team that Thibs had struggled throughout that playoff year.
Getting blasted out of the building against a Wizards' team they were heavy favorites against is not good either.
And 2013 probably would have gone a lot better if Deng wasn't literally dying and unable to play.
Wasn't 2013 that year when the entire Bulls team starting lineup had some debilitating injury?
Yes... Which was definitely influenced by Thibs being an insane person.
lol
RT @SherwoodStrauss Is it weird to think Kyle Korver is an All-Star and LMA isn't this year? Is that socially acceptable?
RT @SherwoodStrauss I like Korver as an All-Star because he scares defenses all game and kills them when he does shoot. He's ruining defenses just by existing
RT @SherwoodStrauss I'd like to see credit in basketball move from "Guy scored many points" to "Guy impacted game." This might be dumb to want
RT @SherwoodStrauss LMA is good and crucial to Portland, but he's shooting a bunch at low efficiency. Also, not shooting the kinds of shots that lead to Orebs

Bulls shouldn't have been favorites. Wiz were better last year and are better now as well. Maybe not overall, but just in regards to that matchup, they can't beat us, just like we can't beat the Raps.

I'm secretly suspicious of al horfords ability to stay healthy. He seems susceptible to muscle tears.
Oh IWMTB hahaha. Management refused to upgrade and their best get was Boozer and Rose was done for 3 years - yet they underachieved.
D'Antoni willingly sacrificed defense and rebounding for offense. Thibs had no offense to speak of and built a defensive juggernaut out of Noah and role players.
Thibs' only mistake is playing his starters too many minutes, but if Bulls were committed to winning and shored up his bench, he'd probably ease up.
Scott Brooks just has a bad offense. Always has. Durant/Westrbook/Ibaka and fast breaks mask all that. They could be more efficient and have a higher ORTG and score more points than the Spurs, they'll still have a worse offense.

I don't have a crusade, he just says a lot of stupid shit IMO. To his credit, he tries to talk basketball. Most the people here just link to articles and troll - there's just not much I'm interested in responding there.

Here's the thing, given everything we know about okc management, are they really going to let Durant just walk out that door? I don't see Presti letting that happen or leaving it to chance. Either sign the extension by next year's deadline or… trade.
Lose Durant and you lose Westbrook. The smart play is to go for a championship again and risk losing Durant in free agency. Obviously if they have a similar record at next year's trade deadline as they do this year, then the thinking will change.
I think IWMBT19's point is that whilst d'antoni was flawed, so is thibs. Thibs insistence on killing guys in the regular season really does kill them come play off time.
And he has been out-coached in the play offs too. A fair counter argument would be that the bulls haven't had the deepest teams that they can use to counter other teams matchup changes. But he also hasn't developed many rotation guys.
The Durant metrics are weird because he's never been healthy enough for long enough for you to say that he has been at full strength this year. So while I can see the arguments that OKC aren't worse (I personally think they are for a bunch of reasons mentioned already), the rest of the west got better.
For e.g. in a match up against the Grizzly, Durant won't have Prince to warm up on and get going before Tony Allen comes in. He now has to face Green.

Thibs has done fine. With Rose they went to the ECF and lost to Miami. big deal.
Rose tore his ACL and they lost.
Then they beat a Brooklyn team most thought was better than them without Rose to make the semifinals.
IMO, Washington was always the better team (but maybe HCA could carry them) last year but some thought differently. Either way it was never going to be an easy series for Chicago to win and they didn't.
Not sure Thibs deserves a ton of blame for their playoffs. If anything, they've done as good or better than they should have,
I agree he overplays players but not anymore than what used to be the case just 10 years ago. I wish he was the Laker coach.

Really? You've got a timer on you checking how much time each person has alloted to studying basketball?
I'd love to see your research on the topic, otherwise kindly sit down.
Just because the guy wholeheartedly accepts advanced metrics without an ounce of questioning doesn't mean he knows more, it means he has a different philosophy. By your logic Hollinger knows more and studies more basketball than Phil Jackson.

Not necessarily. They have control over Westbrook for a year longer, and would presumably get picks, cap space from expirings and a young piece from a Durant trade. I think they'd be in a goodposition to keep him if they can put pieces around him. They can offer him a super max and he'd get first option touches too.

Don't see him going off on Green the way he abused prince. And neither morrow or roberson are athletic enough to keep up with green. Grizz are one of the few teams that can force OKC to match up to them.
But it's Durant. He can go off on anybody, it's just the degree of dificulty.

Because he's never had a good bench? Obviously what he's doing is wrong, but I don't think Thibs would routinely play his starters 42 minutes if his bench was able to expand on leads.

By The FrankmanAnd how the fuck is Cousins not an All-Star?
Because the West is loaded. Who would you put him in front of?
The special Cousins rule continues. Everyone else has to perform like an all-star. Cousins has to be 6'11 Lebron James just for a coach nod.
By jjasperBy The FrankmanAnd how the fuck is Cousins not an All-Star?

Blake, LMA, Dirk, Duncan, and possibly Durant due to injuries.

If you don't play a bench. If you don't develop a bench. A bench doesn't magically appear. They had Butler buried at one stage. They've had options. Thibs just prefers to kill guys first then when they're injured, kill the next bench guy.
An example, Omer Asik in his 2 years with the bulls played 12.1 and 14.7 mpg.
Butler went 8.5 & 26.0 in his first two seasons straight to 38.5 & 39.5 And his minutes only got up to 26 because thibs started playing him over 40mpg at the end of the season. i.e. once he found out Butler was good, he ran him into the ground.
Thibs does that kind of thing regularly. He doesn't balance minutes between guys. Yeah, some of the bulls bench is limited, but it's not horrible at all, far from it, there are plenty of coaches doing more with less. Their guard rotation is Rose, Butler, Hinrich, AB3. There's no reason Butler has to be playing almost 40mpg with that. That' serviceable. At every spot on this bulls team there are rotation guys who are good enough to be playing 15 - 20mpg such that no starter HAS to be playing over 32mpg.
Thibs just refuses to buy into it. That's his option. But after seeing that bulls team constantly deal with an extensive injury list...... he should be looking at injury prevention and open himself up to possibilities in changing things to help prevent injury.
By etiolationi agree about Blake but he is voted in. Durant has been awesome when he has played LMA should be in and the other 2 aren't in.By jjasperBy The FrankmanAnd how the fuck is Cousins not an All-Star?

By reiloIs the East going to have a 50-loss playoff team?
Charlotte won't be 8th without Kemba, Brooklyn won't have Bropez after the all star break...so that leaves Boston since Detroit lost Jennings.
So the question becomes, can Boston win more than 16 games this season...I doubt it.
