What doesn't cause cancer?

Fucking hate that response to shit. Alot of shit does not cause cancer. The fuck is wrong with some people?

A scientific study released recently suggested that humans lack the ability to digest a sugar in red meat, leading to the possibility of cancer coming from red meat. The media has been writing about the study today. The response from NeoGAF (and probably Reddit, etc) to these reports is "well, what doesn't cause cancer?"
By IWMTB19And whilst the response may seem absurd, there are so many studies that say that x causes cancer it's a bit ridiculous. Some have stated tomatoes, lettuce, etc. If you chargrill anything so that it has scorch marks on it etc.By reiloContext?

You can't really read a whole lot into isolated studies. Considering the extended period of time we've been consuming red meat, I'd like to know why we couldn't break down this sugar. Is it only new due to recent changes in farming techniques etc?
/me shrug.
I remember asking my doctor for a cancer screen/test and he said "your young, you wont get cancer"

By Angelus ErrareEverything causes cancer eventually.
This. Cancer is a mutation. The number of canders that will occur will only increase with life expectancy. Prepare for cancer to be normalized in our lifetimes.
By friskykillfaceI remember asking my doctor for a cancer screen/test and he said "your young, you wont get cancer"In some regards, i get what he was saying. Why do you need a full cancer blood screen / test? With out meaning to be offensive, why waste the resources?

By friskykillfaceI remember asking my doctor for a cancer screen/test and he said "your young, you wont get cancer"Top 3 most common cancers in men are prostate, lung and colorectal. The overwhelming majority of those happens above the age of 50.

To screen for prostate, you need a rectal exam (finger in your ass).
No good screens for lung cancer.
For colorectal, it's a bowel prep where you have diarrhea for 12 hours, drink liquids only for 12-18 hours, then they put you to sleep and shove a long, black tube up your ass. It's about 80-100 cm long.
And if they find something, even if it's unlikely to be cancer, the 'treatment' can be worse than the 'disease'. If it's nothing and you have surgery and then develop a hernia or become incontinent or need a second surgery or bleed a lot or they hurt the nerves that go to your penis and prevent you from having erections or... you get the point. Many people would wonder if it was worth it.
That's not to talk about the risks of the colonoscopy or whether prostate cancer is a big threat.
Probably the best thing you can do is see you doctor yearly and proactively keep up for when you so need these screening tests. Usually a around 50 and use sun screen. Yearly physical.
There is no one screen for all of them. Individual tests based off likelihood of the disease.
