The offseason is here!

Mercedes rained supreme this past season with the best combination of the absolute BEST hybrid engine on the grid mated to a chassis that put out the downforce to match the prodigious engine.
Lewis Hamilton brought home his second championship in dominant fashion with little to no competition. His team mate, Nico Rosberg, raised a cute, knicks-like attempt but ultimately fell to Nicole Sherzy's boytoy.
Big changes are coming for 2015 as we saw two of the best drivers in F1 history change teams.
Fernando Alonso finally had enough of the Scuderia's feeble attempts of putting together a competent car and negotiated an opt-out of his contract with Ferrari. Rumors of where he would end up ran rampant, ranging from a year off sabbatical from F1 with Alonso joining Mark Webber at Porsche for LeMans to him going back for a third stint at whatever festering remains are left of the team that brought him his two championships at Renault, now known as Lotus. When the dust settled, Fernando decided to make amends with Ron Dennis and take advantage of the new McLaren-Honda partnership, heading back to Woking, UK for a chance at finally winning that elusive third championship which alluded him due to multiple misfortunes in Maranello.
Someone had to replace Fernando at the most storied franchise in racing history, why wouldn't it be the four time world champ, Sebastian Vettel, who seemingly had grown disinterested at Red Bull after no longer having the most dominating car on the grid and a strong challenge from young Aussie charger Daniel Ricciardo. Vettel inherits a team in turmoil. Ferrari has basically changed face overnight, sending home designer after designer in hopes of finally regaining the glory of the Brawn/Todt/Schumacher days. Perhaps a German driver is the one to do it.

Not too many technical changes ahead as Mercedes wouldn't play nice to allow Ferrari and Renault the chance to make changes to their existing power units.
I'm hyped for this season! Can't wait to see what this new Honda lump can do. Fernando is, in my opinion, the best complete driver on the grid. I expect him to embarrass Jenson Button this season as he did Kimi last year.
Jenson Button is the most overrated driver on the grid. Dat UK bias.
What are you all looking forward to this year?!

2014 was the first year I watched because of Giant Bomb's F1 podcast and I enjoyed it despite the Mercedes dominance.
Just hoping for more even cars next time.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind some customer cars out there to fil out the grid. I really don't see anything wrong with a team like Caterham or Sauber going to Ferrari or Red Bull and purchasing a two or three year old chassis with current engine combo at a discounted rate. I think it would help keep the grid full with better built cars that would be some what more competitive.
By diprosaliclet's hope Sauber isn't as shitty this year.Doesn't look good for Sauber. ;/
They seem like they're barely treading water and needed the funding that only having two pay drivers would bring.

It's weird because I used to enjoy F1 the most when there were less restrictions on what teams could do. In terms of restrictions on engines and all that. i.e. pre 2006.
But i know what they need to curb some of the costs because the grid is looking pretty bare these days.
In particular i look over it, and there's no Asian team, RIP Honda.
But going into the new season with only 9 teams. That must be close to an all time low?
By giririsssI loved the V10-era as well. The sounds coming from those engines was unreal.By h3roBy Vlatko2014 was the first year I watched because of Giant Bomb's F1 podcast and I enjoyed it despite the Mercedes dominance.Unfortunately, looks like we've lost Caterham. McLaren obviously isn't an Asian team but it's as close as we can get right now as it seems that Honda seem to have significant sway over personnel decisions, as is evidence by Jenson remaining on the team with his high salary opposed to Keven Magnussen who was a McLaren young driver.
Yo F1 fans, just joined up with FootyGAFSlaent.
Nice to see a F1 thread here already!
With RedBull crying about Renault again, Renault appear to be considering a return with it's own works team

Hyped again for another season approaching, but all to aware that it could be disappointing.
Really hope McLaren and Ferrari have a resurgence.

Seems Rosberg stuck 65 Laps in this morning despite a twinge in his neck, so Hamilton is now out there buzzing around. Apparently not vomiting everywhere today.
I'm not sure why Manor want to use last year's Ferrari engines. Is it familiarity? I would think they'd be better off trying to get the Honda engine.

Familiarity and thus less risk I suppose.

Seems like Ferrari are doing the usual quali laps in testing to satiate the Italian media again. The car does look nice though.
Shame about the Macca livery. Reminds me way too much of the West days that should have left Kimi with another 2 titles if those damn Ilmor lumps didn't go kablammo all the time.
Things I'm excited for:
1. Vettel in shit car. Come on, we all know that the Ferrari will be better this year but aero-wise, it will NEVER be anywhere near what he was used to in the Newey days with RB. Let's see what the kid has got!
2. Will emo-Lewis make a comeback this year now that he broke up with Nicole? Again? Hoping he rebounds quickly and defends his title against a fired up Nico, which brings me to...
3. Nico. What has he got for Lewis? The Merc looks like it's sandbagged heavily in testing but Lewis has already said it feels just as good as last years car. Nico has just announced he has a baby on the way with his wife, let's see how motivated he is to bring that baby into a world where he's champion.
4. Fernando and Honda. Just what do they have up their sleeve? The car has looked shit due to engine gremlins and looks shit thanks to a livery that is basically sponsor-less due to Ron's insane demands. Also, I think he'll dominate Jenson the same way he did Kimi last year.
How about you guys?!
Seems the race sim Hamilton did yesterday was quite a bit faster than Ricciardo in the Red bull.
Also, Lewis put in a fast time on the harder of the tyres that was only about 4/10th slower than the other drivers on the softer of the tyres.
They really are going to rock up to Australia and be a second clear aren't they.

Just realized the new season is only a couple weeks away and suddenly got excited for it despite not keeping up with the offseason.
