Russia is so fucked.

Rubble drops 10% in one day, massive economic depression predicted for next year due to oil prices and sanctions, Russia responds by hiking interest rates from 10.5% to 17%.
Note to future dictators: Invading other countries is really bad for your economy. Also, an economy that can be destroyed by increased oil production of other countries is probably not an economy you should try to build.

You don't say!
At least they haven't had to send "comrades don't eat other comrades!" fliers yet (though that was what Russia previously had inflicted on the Ukraine instead of Russia).
I just hope Russia quits this dumb shit they're doing.

I'd love to see it end. But i'm not holding out much hope until a populace uprising ousts Putin.
But I think America is slowly approaching something similar with its aristocracy basically keeping all the peasants down.

Yeah but from a young age the majority of people are taught to ignore it. Its almost comical how people in America associate everybody as being in the middle class.... unless they are dirt poor or a multimillionaire.
Then even if somebody was to try and convince people that their interest as the "middle class" is different from a millionaire would fail because like Steinbeck said “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”
so its basically America is a country of the haves (to radically different degree) vs the have not's (the people to poor to fake not being poor like the majority of Americans)
The Ruble had another massive drop today following Russia's desperation interest rate hike.
Russia really could go through a massive recession and high inflation at the same time while not being able to get support from foreign nations (due to the sanctions).

After hedging for a few days, White House says Obama will sign Russia sanctions bill even though he has concerns with it.
If you're going to get involved in a ridiculously stupid war, make sure that you have an economy that Saudi Arabia can't destroy by just pursuing its self-interest.

Yes, a large part of the problem with discussing this stuff in mainstream american media is the ingrained from birth "Everything america does is awesome and freedom!". The fact that anyone disagreeing gets shouted down as not being American is really scary.
For Americans.

I guess the point is to cause the populace to stop voting in this retard (in rigged elections where secret police monitor everyone.....) and / or to start asking legitimate questions and cause a genuine uprising.
But really, it's about the only non-violent option.
Sanctions aren't really nonviolent if they cause foreign citizens to starve to death and inspire them to commit violence out of anger of their poverty.
The US really needs to make sure they can accept in a large amount of LGBT people, Jewish people, Muslims, and other immigrants and minorities from Russia soon because I'm worried that the "undesirables" are going to be bearing a huge brunt of this.
Maybe after two years of Russia's economy being on fire, the Russian people will finally overthrow Putin. Hopefully the next guy won't be just as bad.

It's non-violent in a indirect manner. I.e. no one sent troops in. The downside is that, yeah, I don't necessarily think it will be peaceful on the ground. Which just isn't great. And like you, I think the "undesirables" will get targeted.
But after the response from Australians in the wake of the Sydney Siege where the core of Australia refused to give into racial discrimination and instead rallied around muslims, I actually have some hope in people again. So hopefully we're all willing to help in this situation too.

Yeesh.
Yeah, Valve just made games region locked because of the Russian economy.
You know you're jacked as a country when companies which thrive on global sales say yo money ain't worth ish.
