I listen to a lot of podcasts while driving and walking around so I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations.
I used to listen to the Basketball Jones for NBA recaps but since it became the Starters its not been as good so I unsubscribed and haven't found a replacement.
Some recent shows that I've gotten into:
StartUp - guy documents every part of his process of starting a new podcasting network from pitching his idea to billionaires to discussing equity split with his partner.
Reply All - podcast produced by ^ podcast studio. Apparently it already was a podcast under a different name, but I've only listened to this iteration. Short episodes about something related to the internet like the guy who invented the pop-up ad or an app that is the instagram for gross pictures taken by doctors for other doctors.
99% Invisible - kind of hit and miss for me so far. Discusses different things related to design from the flag of Portland to office chairs. A lot of episodes have been interesting, but some I just look at my phone and realize that the 20 minutes are up and I didn't retain any of the information.
Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast is my favorite.
I have grown to hate My Brother,My Brother and me. I tried hard to like it but ugh

NPR's Planet Money is a good one.
I also listen to Hardcore History, Radiolab, Serial (although I'm WAYYYY behind), and Thunder Buddies (which is entertaining even for those who aren't OKC fans).

By psychintellectBill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast is my favorite. When I first started listening to MBMBaM I almost drove off the road laughing so hard, but I could see how you could not like it. You start to expect the same jokes from each brother after a while too.

Football Weekly
Football Ramble
Second Captains
Giant Bombast
Giant Beastcast
Idle Thumbs
Daft Souls
VideogamerTV podcast
Richard Herrings Leicester Square Theatre Podcast
Hardcore History
With relistens of the Ricky Gervais stuff peppered in
Got bored of Bill Burr and Serial after a few episodes of each. Videogamer is going the same way right now, the current host is fucking shite at it. And the Football Weekly guys ran out of energy years ago, it's like they don't want to be there.
Prefer the Beastcast to the Bombast now I think. Alex is insufferable and Austin goes on about academia far too much, but Vinny and Jeff are great. Would love it if Jeff joined GB full time.

I've been a Comedy Bang Bang listener for years.
I also listen to How Did This Get Made, but have long since given up on watching the movies beforehand
I recently started to listen to Hound Tall with Moshe Kasher. They get an expert on a certain subject and have them talk about it with comedians who make jokes all the while. Fun way to scratch the surface on certain topics. I really liked the episodes on polyamory and blackholes
I've also been periodically been making my way through the Dead Authors Podcast. The premise is that Paul F Tompkins as HG wells interviews other comedians playing other dead authors. Hit or miss really but some episodes like Jon Daly as L. Ron Hubert killed me. Others have actually gotten me to read their books. Depends on how well the comedian knows their author and prepares to talk about them beforehand

I've started listening to the Ricky Gervais Podcast with Karl Pilkington. Good fun, I love Karl's logic in some cases and the remarks he has. Ricky's laughter is sometime a little too loud though.
By P-SY Go To PostI don't know how I feel about the Joe Rogan podcast.I used to listen to it all the time but it gets very repetitive after a while and Joe goes through the same talking points depending on the guest.
The machine story is still my favorite moment from the podcast.
I like these:
Double Toasted - for movie reviews and discussion
Guys We Fucked - for sex/relationships/comedy talk and interviews (comedians Corrine Fisher and Krystyna Hutchinson)
The Steve Austin Show - inside pro wrestling talk and interviews
I'll listen to pretty much anything with a comedic slant.

They're the funniest things I've ever heard.
Idle Thumbs is back on track after a year or so of decline, think being in the midst of developing Firewatch killed their enthusiasm for the entire industry
Unfortunately Videogamer is getting worse by the week, and that goes for the videos as well.
GiantBomb just keeps on trucking

By data Go To PostKlepek said they're talking about a podcast. An Austin and Patrick podcast could be amazing.I imagine it'd be informative and well considered, but ultimately dull as dishwater
By Hitch Go To PostI imagine it'd be informative and well considered, but ultimately dull as dishwaterI mean, Beastcast was already that for me. But Patrick and Austin do play a lot more games than Vinny. And Alex and Bakalar are.... not funny, to put it as inoffensive as possible.
I wish Norm MacDonald would bring back his podcast, but he doesn't tend to do anything for longer than like 3 months.
I listen to Rogan if its an interesting guest, but tend to skip the MMA guests as I don't know the sport well enough to follow along.

Last podcast on the left is my favorite podcast out there. The subject are conspiracy theories, serial killers, cults and such. But it's hilarious while still being pretty dark, give it a listen. The last one released yesterday on Albert fish Is amazing.

We hate movies - WHM in my opinion the best movie podcast . If you love movies, or love hating bad movies , or love loving bad movies , or love apologetically loving any kind of movie , take a tall glass of water , sit down and give this weekly funny show a chance .
+1 to We Hate Movies. Maybe the funniest podcast I've ever heard regarding ANY topic. 4 guys with pitch-perfect chemistry.
Just want to reiterate how good Last Podcast and WHM are. I also enjoy I Don't Even Own A Television which is a bad book podcast, Stuff You Should Know which covers great nuggets of general knowledge, Retro Hour which has some amazing interviews and Sleep With Me which I swear by for napping while travelling.
Oh and the BBC world service documentaries!

I'm really enjoying Wonderful! by Griffin and Rachel Mcelroy. It's basically just a discussion about two things that they each want to talk about each week, but it's very light and whimsical so makes a nice counterpoint to some of the heavier stuff out there.
The Beef and Dairy Network is fantastic too.

My favorite TV critics do THE WATCH. They're not too snooty at all. Part of the Ringer.
For NBA - The Lowe Post is a must listen - featuring Grantland/ESPN's famed Zach Lowe.

I listen to the Super Best Friendcast every week. It's great for both keeping up with gaming news that sometimes even Neogaf missed, and to have a good laugh while doing so.

Radiolab and 99% Invisible are good in their own right but there is absolutely no comparing them with Reply All. They're barely in the same genre at times. Though Reply All has many serious episodes, the big push behind that show is the chemistry and comradery between the co-hosts and the humour that comes out of it. In comparison Radiolab and 99PI are much drier, much more focused on the informational part of things.
In the fictional side of things, as per their Facebook page, Limetown is coming out with a second season next year, which will make nearly three years since the first season. I guess that means that their TV talks ultimately fell through, which is disappointing, but I'm definitely up for more podcast episodes in that place.

By Hitch Go To PostMan, part 4 of the Pickton series of Last Podcast On The Left was good
I wish I could have gone to the piggy palace.
Listened to Dirty John which is pretty much the five part audio version of an LA Times article and dear lord were the people infuriating.
I recommend it but it'll put your resistance to victim blaming to test.

Unfortunately, this season of Reply Ass has been pretty mediocre. Lots of episodes that amount to just explaining stuff rather than investigative work
Radiolab is incredible.

When a law student named Mark Bold came across a Supreme Court decision from the 1920s that allowed for the forced sterilization of people deemed “unfit,” he was shocked to discover that it had never been overturned. His law professors told him the case, Buck v Bell, was nothing to worry about, that the ruling was in a kind of legal limbo and could never be used against people. But he didn’t buy it. In this episode we follow Mark on a journey to one of the darkest consequences of humanity’s attempts to measure the human mind and put people in boxes, following him through history, science fiction and a version of eugenics that’s still very much alive today, and watch as he crusades to restore a dash of moral order to the universe.Frightening and heartbreaking look back on the history of eugenics.

Are some ideas so dangerous we shouldn’t even talk about them? That question brought Radiolab’s senior editor, Pat Walters, to a subject that at first he thought was long gone: the measuring of human intelligence with IQ tests. Turns out, the tests are all around us. In the workplace. The criminal justice system. Even the NFL. And they’re massive in schools. More than a million US children are IQ tested every year. The problematic history behind IQ tests.

Because moments of total, world-shaking bliss are not easy to come by. Maybe that's what makes them feel so life-altering when they strike. And so worth chasing. This hour: stories of striving, grasping, tripping, and falling for happiness, perfection, and ideals.
Does anyone know where to find an easily downloadable archive of Last Podcast On The Left?
They moved to Spotify when I'd just begun downloading them through podbay, but they've been removed from there now and I can't find them anywhere else. Can download them on my phone, but can't find the option to do it through PC (haven't got premium)

Listening to Rude Tales of Magic. Live play D&D by improv artists, but it's the most surreal and thoughtful iteration of the genre I've ever heard. I love it.
