By IWMTB19 Go To PostI mean, in the end, it was Curry playing below his level and Draymond punching too many people in the balls that did the Warriors in.It made them play too fucking cute at the worst of times and because they got away with it for so long against other choke ass teams and scrub squads they didn't buck up properly for the Finals. Just my opinion of course but I've consistently complained about their TO nonsense, shit passes and generally flying too close to the sun.
I don't know if the Warriors' arrogance matters that much. They're one of the most arrogant/confident teams in recent history, but I'm not sure that led to Draymond hitting dudes in the balls or Curry failing to get dribble penetration against Tristan Thompson.

By reilo Go To PostYou guys are saying some dumb stuff. Curry's performance this Finals are still a notch above what even Lebron and Kobe have done in a similar situation. But hey, keep on keeping on and spreading FUD.
Only time LeBron's GmSc was worse than Curry's this finals was in 2007 when a 22 year old LeBron had to carry trash to the Finals against the Spurs. He posted a 10.7 or something
Even against the Mavs which is the go-to series that everyone uses to clown LeBron and where all the hate comes from, he still had a 13.7 (curry put up a 13.1) and when they lost 4-1 to the Spurs he still put up a 22.5
Curry was garbage this finals and I'm not saying this as a hater (not that long ago I said Steph is probably the first time I've seen greatness because of how insane he was playing at the time) but he got exposed on defense and wasnt much better on offense. His decision making was straight up garbage. Almost everyone on this forum constantly gives Klay, YNB and/or other players shit for the bad decisions they make throughout the course of a game but Steph was making Reggie Jackson look like he has the highest bbiq ever

YYYYYEEEEEPP
Yeah, there's no question that Curry may have been the one who cost them that series. Role players like Barnes fucked up a ton, but Curry played like a 4-year younger version of himself which is just inexcusable for a leader. He was just stupid and blind many times. LeBron broke his spirits.
Guys like Klay (surprisingly) and Green were keeping them in the games, but Curry kept taking them out.

Bron started targeting Curry in game 5, he'd eventually pick him up on a lot of plays. The press even called him out on it, and asked Curry about it too. It was really obvious. He started blocking Curry's layups constantly and stared him down every time. They talked a lot of shit throughout the series too. LeBron got in his head, without a doubt.

I am just comparing this year's Finals to some of Lebron's and even Kobe's pasts that people are willfully ignoring. And 13.7 versus 13.1 is splitting hairs.

Yeah but, imo...that Laker team apart from Shaq, were garbage tier. Couldn't set a screen to save their life, couldn't roll, had hobbled-old-ass players who couldn't shoot or rebound. Shaq and Kobe had some issues, as well together. They got their asses handed to them. Kobe tried to do everything and the only player he'd pass to was Shaq (shockingly), since he had no faith in anyone else. He practically played every minute of that finals. He was gassed as fuck during the playoffs, and his numbers suffered for it.
The Warriors have a much better supporting cast built around Curry and Klay. The bench showed the Cavs what they could do to a starting line-up in game 1. The 03-04 Lakers had no such thing, they were just a downright awful team and it affected Kobe. Curry didn't have that excuse.
'04 Lakers squad is now mostly "garbage"? Payton and Malone, two Hall of Famers, were still very damn good for them all season long. They did just fine by managing to beat the #1 seeded Wolves and #3 seeded Spurs squads to make it to the Finals. Not to mention the Pistons on paper were a tier below the Lakers as well.
And Kobe did fuck-all to pass to Shaq. Shaq averaged 14FGA for the playoffs, which was criminal. Kobe was +7FGA on the squad eventhough Shaq was leading them in PPG for those 5 Finals games. Kobe was goddamn terrible and his selfish play is one of the big reasons they lost.

Curry didn't post gaudy numbers last year in the Finals, but his mere presence absolutely eviscerated the Cavs.
They were so concerned with trapping Curry 35 feet from the hoop that they got roasted by that top of the key Draymond dribble pass again and again and again. Doesn't happen without Curry.

recency bias is always a factor, but why I consider this one of the worst performances is because there were always excuses. Steph's gotta be hurt, nba wants to extend the series, then the nba is rigged or cavs wanting draymond to get suspended (which is what everyone wanted against OKC). There was never blame on Curry, who could have done more for this team as a leader instead of throwing sloppy behind the back passes in a close game 7.

Kobe's been to 7 finals. You're basically "Tragic Johnsoning" right now. Or for a more recent example, bringing up Lebron against the Mavs series. Most great players, sans jordan, have had some underperforming finals performances. Especially when they lost.
04 was his worst finals, it was also a time he was facing a possible 20 year jail sentence, a possible divorce, and Malone out for the entire finals. And the only reason LA didn't get swept that year is because Kobe hit a ridiculous contested pull-up 3 to send it to overtime than took over in the extra period.
NOW those are some fucking excuses, holy shit. Look at that literal get-out-of-jail-free card. Bravo.

As it stands, he's passed up Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, and Bird.
The best thing about him honestly is the same thing with Kobe. Both those dudes came in with a world of talent and promise, and they both put in the work to reach their potential as far as dominating a decade go, being two way players, and really being at the pinnacle of what they could reasonably achieve
By reilo Go To Post'04 Lakers squad is now mostly "garbage"? Payton and Malone, two Hall of Famers, were still very damn good for them all season long. I seem to recall Payton and Malone being pretty washed up by the time the playoffs came about...maybe my memory is hazy since it's been 12 years, but Payton looked beat. Malone was injured. I remember Kobe being selfish in some of the playoffs games, ESPECIALLY during game 2. But after that 68 point game, he started passing to Shaq moreso than to others...even when guys like Rick Fox or Fisher were wide open. Kobe was also extremely disrespectful to Malone, if you recall, which is why Malone left the team and never returned. Malone wasn't that great anymore and Kobe, being the usual asshole he is, put it to him bluntly and wanted to force him off the team.
I just recall that entire series being weird as fuck, tbh. I genuinely think Curry's shit finals performance and Kobe's were for two different reasons. The other thing is, Kobe bounced back and won a few more chips. Will Curry be able to achieve the same?

No, I'm saying you getting all bent out of shape over criticisms of underperforming Finals is just, weird. Guys who make the finals 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 times tend to have a bad finals performance or two mixed in there. Usually when they have a body of work or set of accomplishments that puts that into context, people let that go.
Whether Curry had a bad 2015 or he didn't, pointing to Kobe's worst finals or Lebron's worst finals as some sort of pro-Curry statement is weird.
Also, you know damn well, that averages over 7 games, don't mean all that much if the performances aren't semi-consistent. Curry had some horrible games in that series and it took a roleplayer to play like an over-achieving role player to get that FVMP for a reason. I mean, fuck, Delly was being heralded as a Curry stopper.
I don't have the time atm to go back and look at game by game box scores.
As for your larger point. Let Curry make 7 Finals and have 2016 and 2015 as his worst performances, and I guarantee you no one will be talking about these last two finals at that time.
By blackace Go To PostMalone tried to fuck Kobe's wife…

I think he hated the system more than anything. He's talked about how much he hated not being the traditional PG that season. He did lead the team in assists though, which is like the only time in the entire 2000's I think someone other than Kobe led the Lakers in assists.
Malone was out for those finals, he was still pretty damn good.

But here’s what I’d say to anybody: If Kobe don’t like me today, that’s Kobe Bryant’s fault or his problem. I don’t have no problem. I come in peace, but I do prepare for war if I have to.’’
all 3 parties are on record saying it happened and Kobe and Malone have both offered to fight about it... why would you think it's bullshit?
