This is the best article on Rooney I've read in a long time.
Some choice bits:
Rooney hasn't had any serious injuries in his career, which makes it downright sadistic that three of them should come when he was close to career-defining achievements. England might have won Euro 2004 had he not been injured in the quarterfinal against Portugal; the others came on the eve of the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. On both occasions, he was playing at his peak. Although he appeared at both tournaments, he was not fully fit either time and had lost his rhythm.
Wayne :(
People talk about age; it's miles on the clock and games played that matter," said former Liverpool and England defender and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher earlier this year. "I just think he's been playing so long now that maybe it's 30 on his birth certificate, but in terms of games played, he's a 35-year-old playerBeen saying this for a while.
His future is apparently in midfield, though that feels like an attempt to make a virtue out of necessity. He started as someone who would play anywhere for the team; now he will play anywhere to get into the team.Sad truth.
The downside of that is that, if England fail at Euro 2016, Rooney will almost certainly be the scapegoat. Also sad and perhaps unfair truth.
Rooney personified fearlessness, and not just the kind found on the field. In October 2004, six weeks after he had joined United, Rooney was in the team room the night before a match against Birmingham. Roy Keane was watching rugby league on the TV. When Keane went to the toilet, Rooney switched the channel and hid the remote. Keane returned and conducted an impromptu investigation, during which Rooney smirked and said nothing. Keane went off to his room in a mild huff. The next morning, Rooney asked Keane whether he'd found the remote and smiled when he was told to go f— himself. "I wasn't scared of him," Rooney said. "I'm not scared of anyone."Captain. Leader. Legend.
One problem I see with Rooney is that his focus on football was in a sense, everywhere. It might be the fault of the coaches too but at one point, he was a striker, then an attacking midfielder, then back to striker and now a midfielder.
I just dont think he has the intelligence switch from those roles easily and what you get now is essentially a mediocre jack of all trades. He's now ok at everything, but not at a 300k p/w level.

Breaking: Eric Bailly medical at #MUFC this afternoon.
Daily Mail though, but I'm not surprised if it's true.
@Matt_Law_DT: Arsenal have been made aware that Vardy does not plan to make a decision until he has finished at the Euros with England.
We should rescind the bid.
By Marston Go To PostWe should rescind the bid.Emirates gonna throw shit at him once he rejects
slowly but surely, you guys will start to collectively appreciate the walking (hobbling?) legend that is Rooneh
Vardy taking Arsenal for a ride. What a fucking legend.
Watch him reject them and then they have to panic buy some Eredivisie pleb.

Premfaces app coming along nicely guys, my first jab at creating an app and I'm learning so much from the process - Java is pretty cool.
The best thing about it is that it's so fast, native apps are so much better than HTML5 webapps.
<3 you guys for helping me make the site what it is.

By OneTwoTee Go To PostHave we signed Dahoud yet
we won't :(
It won't be Dahoud but I'm confident Klopp will fill in the gaps in our team. He doesn't think in abstract terms like Rodgers does, at least not in footballing matters.
A lot was made of the transfer committee, but I think the problem came down to the fact that Rodgers was too determined to sign certain players, whether they were realistic or not. There are failures like Alli, too. But Klopp won't sign us a Benteke.
Everton are going to sell a few players too. And Koeman is probably going to dip back for at least one or two (Long maybe?) Southampton players.
