By Zabojnik Go To PostWe're getting Kovacic, aren't we?Should've leaped for Vardy. He has that Juve age about him.
By Hitch Go To PostWhat other release clauses have been refused than Suarez?not a release clause, but what about the alderwerield/southampton thing
Think Ferguson refused to let Heine go to us when he had a release clause, something about it only applying to foreign clubs. Not that I was devestated to miss out on that knobend :P
i assume if a release clause was ever disputed to a high level, alot of clubs would rather just drop it altogether and move on to other targets than get in a drawn out legal battle
By Marston Go To Post- 29I'm sure he can easily adapt to making more darting runs in/into the box, rather than latching onto long passes
- Seemingly ill suited to Arsenal's style of play
- Reliant on pace that will soon fade
- One good season
- Will probably get shunted onto the wing to accommodate Giroud ala Welbeck (whose injury is probably the only reason we want him)
In Ozil you have the king of splitting that deep line as well.
By Andy Go To PostI'm concerned tbh
Big risk, for a number of reasons
What is the big risk? It is less than 20m.
Not really seeing a downside here.
#TeamWedderz
Its more of a PR risk than a football one. And that barely matters in the grand scheme, unless he's a Joey Barton type

By n8 Go To PostI really dunno how this signing's gonna work out. Very interesting.
Either way, it's going to be funny.
I'm imagining a situation in which he either flops or becomes a distasteful version of Ian Wright's second coming
3 days into the window and we have signed a CM and striker.
Both of which are hard lads.
Best summer in years.

Get this transfer wrong and we could be relying on Giroud for another season
Don't get me wrong - I'm well excited that we're doing stuff

I think people assume this is a case of Vardy or some other player and we have chosen Vardy. Until I am presented with another option that we passed on for Vardy I am not buying it.
We currently have 1 striker.
Vardy to Arsenal would be the perfect Hollywood ending. Damnit Arsene, why must you always write the script.
The more I think about it the more I think Wenger leads a very spoiled, privileged life. No wonder Mou is jealous.

I would go outside right now and have a racist fivesome
By Barzul Go To PostWould you pay 40m for Giroud? Because that's exactly what Morata could be. He's shown absolutely nothing to me that he warrants that price. CL exploits included.Genuinely do one.
I highly suspect anyone making this comparison hardly watches any football at all.
The world is more than just the EPL

Hitch - I think you're a bit misguided
You can be excited about a Vardy transfer whilst expressing concerns.
Did you see Arsenal fans moaning over Sanchez? Ozil? Think a bit of perspective is in order

People moaned over both because they felt we were paying too much when we needed a striker instead.
A failure like Ranieri managed to win the EPL. That says a lot about the state of football in England.

Felix Magath.
But but but but but but.
Vardy is going to piss off our sensitive IPA drinking fans off so much. He's going to piss Wenger off. He's going to piss me off.
Can't wait for our first game, where him and Xhaka both get a red card.

Any striker would represent an improvement on Giroud and guarantee a better season than with him, ceteris paribus. Last season Arsenal had a great chance to win had they an half-decent striker in his place.
I want this to happen just to show how obvious it is. Arsenal's team is just in desperate need of a decent striker.

Doubt it. Higuain is actually world class and the level of striker Arsenal need.

Giroud is a decent striker made to look shite by the amount of pressure there is on him to score. Plenty of other players should have chipped in more than they did.

Would not disagree about Wenger but that is a minority of fans and other than Shanks - don't think it applies to many in here. From an objective side of things, Wenger has a pretty good track record in the market.
Re: Wedward; was meaning the players themselves rather than the broader picture side of things. iirc everyone was pretty sold on both. I'm not against Vardy I'm just shocked tbh. It's quite odd.

Juve signed Tevez at 29 and it worked out okay. It's 2016, 29-year olds aren't ancient. And he'll likely only be needed to do a job for a couple years.
Genuinely surprised though.
