Kevin Garnett, in his 20th NBA season, had other plans.

Plumlee’s childhood friend, Reggie King, who now lives in Cleveland, got the two Nets into Cleveland Central Catholic High School.
For 30 minutes, they shot. For another 30 minutes, they lifted weights.
That hour is the latest handoff in the passing-of-the-baton relationship that began more than a year ago when the Nets acquired Garnett from the Boston Celtics and selected Plumlee with the 22nd pick in the NBA Draft.
Garnett has been the generous tutor. Plumlee has been the eager student.
“He’s always trying to instill his habits to me," Plumlee told BrooklynNets.com. “That’s something I want to take away from him.
“To be at his age and to recognize you still have to put the time in, it just shows you have to really love it. And I do love it, but I’m understanding what kind of work you have to put in."
“If you can catch a guy within the first two years, you can establish who he’s going to be,” said Garnett. “That’s pretty much his foundation for how he’s going to be in the league. Either way, it was Westbrook freelancing in the moment instead of staying within the parameters of what was called.
