Phil's got to field a playoff team that's a top 4 seed in like 3 years. He doesn't have time to draft a teenager or 20 year old.
If NY looks like it's got its act together and strings together some winning streaks and a respectable record in the last few months it will fall within the narrative and attract some good players.

Damn, having suffered numerous dislocated shoulders, Shump is going to be out a few weeks. He'll be sore for about a week after they pop it back in, and have slightly limited range for another week. Add in another week or two for safety, and he's looking to miss a month.
