When a player, prompted, gives one of the most wrote and cliche responses about how good a team mate kobe is, it's an infaillible statement of how amazingly great kobe is as a human being and why you should let him rape your daughter, why fisher is going to be a great coach, and why the triangle will solve every problem in all of basketball.

By giririsssI just wonder how much value you can REALLY associate with someone who has so many caveats. In a season when he's going to be an URFA, and should be trying to post his best season ever, the Pistons aren't exactly over-achieving, nor is he.The thing is, if SVG was iffy on Monroe as part of the future, he had a chance to sign and trade. Monroe has, or had, real value at that point and SVG could probably have gotten at least a pick if not an impact player. But he chose to neither trade nor extend Monroe, and that indecision means the Pistons will lose their second best player (and biggest tradable asset) for nothing.
With the situation Detroit are in, it's hard to go all out on SVG and the Monroe deal. That roster is far from finished. Drummond seems to be their preferred C of the future, which means Monroe would have to be PF. Which can be tough when neither can space the floor at all outside of 5ft. Detroit have been historically bad with their contracts over the last 5 years or so locking up long term money in some really bad deals. SVG had just walked into the job, and only had word of mouth on all of the other things to go on (character, personality, fit, effort, intelligence) to weigh up whether Monroe was worth throwing a max at.
You also have to consider the fact that SVG's treatment of Monroe probably means he thought he could continue to start and use Smith, which is... Not working.

Hard to condemn him for trades that we don't know what they would have gotten back though.
I mean, getting Amare or Bargs back for Monroe isn't a win.
I would take a guess that SVG, like most of us, knows that it's 2 of the 3, not all 3 of them (Drummond, Monroe, Smith). Moving Smiths contract with the way he's been playing though......
By giririsssMoving Smiths contract with the way he's been playing though……Well that's another thing. The Kings supposedly made an offer for Smith over the summer. The situation was similar to Rudy Gay, and the Raptors got decent value there for a player everyone thought was irredeemable at the time. SVG should have been all over that, but instead he chose to keep Smith and whiff on Monroe.

Not at all. Never have I seen a community more proud of it's complete and total lack of understanding of basketball as this one.
So I'm sorry If I don't adhere to the "I don't actually need to know Pop's system or D'Antoni's system and compare and contrast. The only requirement is referencing a quote" piece of lazy analytical trash as acceptable.
I've had conversations with tons of coaches and former players at different levels, many of whom understand what I'm saying and agree. This place just prides itself on complete and utter lack of understanding of basketball.
It's a room full of people who think reading a quarterly report and a quote from Steve Jobs replaces actual understanding of engineering and design.
And it's also Fox News Tier with their inability to be objective on Kobe. I get I'm a bigger fan of him then most, but seriously. Most of the trash talk is just inexcusable laziness. Misquoting things. Cherry picking quotes. Ignoring any and all facts that don't correspond to your point of view. It's insane.
By IWMTB19It's reasonably possible that the 76ers are 13th in the East after tonight.

Portland losing too. I need some of these teams in the west to start losing. This west playoff race is too intense. I need CHA and MIN to win today as well.

Literally said nothing except a bunch of logic accusations with no examples.
Kind of your thing. During our Pop/D'Antoni debate I presented video and screen shot evidence. You kept referencing a comment.
I don't think I'm the only one who understands basketball, I'm the one who thinks NOT understanding is simply not ok. My opinions on the Spurs/Triangle/D'Antoni offenses are based on my actual understanding of those offenses. Not the data points. The actual offenses. Plays, setups, sequences, principles etc.
If someone wants to have a conversation with me about the Triangle that shows and understanding that exceeds "Lol Knicks, Lol Rambis" fine. But no one is doing that.
So in the absence of discussing basketball you accuse of me crap without using clear cut examples. You just want to make the claim and move on. Like you do with the "Pop and D'Antoni have similar offenses".
And as for the Stan thing. That's only because the general viewpoint of those things on this community is negative. An objective Obama fan on a Conservative website isn't a Stan. I can admit that Kobe's an asshole who throws his teammates under the bus. I can also admit he's helped tons of players over the years get better. Your beef is that I dare think that the second premise is true. Hence, YOU'RE not objective.
Triangle? People referencing the failures. But refusing to give credit to the successes. And I'm the one that's not objective?
ffs, we really should just desginate this thread to game to game reaction thread and let you jackasses duke it out in another thread.

But we've been very uneven, even against the Sixers and Pistons. We'll need to be confident going into Phoenix, Sacramento and Oakland next.
