By ratcliffjaThe Knicks were going nowhere before Carmelo. They're going nowhere with Carmelo. It wasn't necessarily an awful trade for them, but maxing him probably wasn't the best idea.
By DominicanPowerBall hogging has a negative connotation.By KingGondoBall hogging is ball hogging.By DominicanPowerTo me, ballhogging means dominating possession and usage to the detriment of the team.By KingGondoThat happens when you hog the shit out of the basketball.@ESPNStatsInfo: Russell Westbrook has at least 20 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast in five straight games since he returned from injury (longest streak of career)
In case you haven't noticed, the team is doing fine since he came back.
Why shouldn't KD and YNB dominate possession and usage when they're by far the best players on the floor? For them not to would be idiotic.
Please T-Mac, please don't come back

They get lots of good shots in, but I feel like it's kind of unfair considering that Brooklyn still figures to make the playoffs. They're capped out and don't have a lot of assets to work with going forward, but there are other teams who will probably do worse over the next few years. Props for ending with Joy Division though.
Not many teams are worse off than Brooklyn. Once they shed their starters the playoff dream is dead.
Teams can be worse than Brooklyn with future errors but Brooklyn has no talent, prospects or picks. Wouldn't bet on many teams being worse than them, their future is shot.

Eh. That's true. But they got a top tier guy at the time and tried to surround him with All Star Caliber talent. They made bad decisions along the way, the players played under their potential. They gave up FAR FAR FAR too many draft picks for the players they acquired .
But that team would remain a playoff team for a couple of years if everyone was healthy. They just have a mandate to shed contracts. The dream is dead.
Looking forward to watching marcus tonight, hopefully he can build on that showing the other night. I don't expect it all the time, because he was hitting his shot, but when he does (if) build consistency on his Jump shot I hope he does what he did with that in attacking and mixing in his shots... he'd be deadly if he learned to pick his spots.
By MorisNot many teams are worse off than Brooklyn. Once they shed their starters the playoff dream is dead. We'll continue to have better records than the Lakers, count on it. Not sure why you have so much faith in Jim

The only loss that really bugs me is Kidd, and that will continue to be the case until he strongarms his way into a GM position and retires from coaching.

In the east, they could still make the play offs with a team of
Plumlee
Teletovic
Joe Johnson
Bogdanovic
Jarret Jack
I mean, trading Lopez, does it really affect the franchise? He's not really been a part of that team. And he's now got a lower back strain and is out for a week.
Deron seems to be playing better basketball. He could be useful. But at 19.8, 21 & 22.3 million a season? Rough. That's the hard part to take on.
You have to wonder if the Knicks wouldn't try to trade for Deron. Bargnani 11.5M (expiring this year) and JR Smith 5.9M (PO Next year) for a total of 17.4M . Throw in Ellington 2.7M or Shumpert 2.6M and the salaries match.
That would still leave the Knicks with Amare's expiring. Which would leave them with roughly ~55 - 59M in salary next year (once they waive Amare).
And Deron has always seemed like a good fit for the triangle....
The counter to that would be, I think the Nets will be looking to get picks back. I don't think the Knicks should be trading picks. Ever.

Plumlee is young (although misused by Hollins), Karasev and Brown are prospects, Bogdanovic is in the rookie of the year conversation, and we're not trading the starters without getting impact players in return.

is not something you hear often..
The Gerald Wallace trade is what caused the ultimate downfall of the Nets. Every move after just built off that.
The Nets may not make the playoffs even without making a move. They've been fairly lucky charlotte has been a disaster so far and that Indy lost George.
Their future is so fucked right now, lol.

The Boston trade was a major problem, I got the idea, it just wasn't the way to go with how old those guys were. On top of that it was in an attempt to get Deron some pieces, but really they continue to invest in that guy and he clearly has dropped off.
I can't fault them for it entirely in going all in on him, I thought at the time they lucked out missing on Melo and landing him, he was a machine. His ankles are no good though, I know he got surgery, but you can't fix wear and tear at least not 100%.

The Nets have 2 more wins than the Lakers.
Lakers have had the hardest SOS in the league (.587)
brooklyn has had the 7th easiest (.462)
I mean, Brooklyn is a better team than the Lakers. But it's not like Brooklyn is far off. If you switched their place with utah, no one would notice.
By ForeverBy MambaI mean, Brooklyn is a better team than the Lakers. That ain't gonna change.
Yeah, it will. Brooklyn is barely better this year so far. Like, they're almost tied right now.
If the Lakers keep their top 5 pick, I'm pretty confident they'll be better next year.

The Nets fanbase is far far closer to the Knicks than the Lakers. It's actually quite stupid to compare the Lakers with the Knicks.
but yeah, the Nets have a total streak of having a better record than the Knicks for 1 season and their fanbase talks shit. keep at it.

I'm convinced that the Clippers have the worst second unit in the West. They lose a lead to almost everybody.

By creepingfearSorry Forever, I hope my Bulls destroy your team tonight. With Johnson and Lopez out we're running a really funky lineup, but it's working. I'm happy to see Karasev getting serious minutes and doing things with them.
By ratcliffjaI'm convinced that the Clippers have the worst second unit in the West. They lose a lead to almost everybody. The Rox are currently balling with a second unit that consists of Joey Dorsey, Clint Capella, Francisco Garcia (might be out injured), Troy Daniels and Nick Johnson. I saw a 27-point lead evaporate into single digits in the space of 3 minutes. That title still belongs to us, I think.
