By diehardBold ass prediction: Jazz will beat the Spurs tonight. The Spurs are weird this year, so I could see it happening. They've beaten Golden State on the road and Memphis at home, but they've lost to New Orleans, Sacramento, and even Brooklyn, which is likely a worse team than Utah.
By AdamDid you watch last night's game, ratcliffja?I followed it on my phone and listened to some of it on the radio. I kept my wife awake checking on the score. I was brushing my teeth when Morris hit that last 3 with about 40 seconds left, so I figured it was over at that point. Out of some tiny remaining shred of hope, I decided to check the score and saw we were down 2. Then the gamecast took forever to update with the last 2 entries being a missed 3 and offensive rebound by Golden State with 5 seconds to go. Again, I figured that was it, as I didn't know that it was a shot clock violation. Still, I kept checking on the score just to see what the final result would be. I looked something up for my wife then switched back to the gamecast to see 121-120 and a Blake Griffin 3. My mind kind of melted at that point. Now I'm looking on youtube to see if anybody has the last shot with the crowd reaction and no annoying analyst talking over it... basically how it would have aired on TV.
Edit:

That's an HD version. The crowd's "awww... OHHHHH" is pretty surreal.

Tell me about what Phil Jackson did as a coach and how that will translate to what Fisher is going to do.

I can't tell you shit. I have no idea what's going on with this team. It's hilarious. The players are clearly trying to win games, but there seems to be some obvious sabotaging going on to tank. LOL

In 05-06 Phil started Kwame, and Chris, and Bynum at times. His preference has always been to use consistent rotations. Start with the same lineup. End with the same lineup. He doesn't do offensive/defensive substitutions and he doesn't change anything despite how other teams play.
But that's only because he thinks if a team has the talent, the more they play together, the more they excel at running the system - which he naturally believes is far and away better than what everyone else is running.
In the absence of cohesive units, or for lack of a better word, competence, he'll shift things around to find what works.
So it's no wonder Fish does the same thing. If Dalembert was as skilled offensively as Jason Smith, Jason Smith wouldn't play. If Iman Shumpert wasn't in a massive shooting slump, JR and Hardaway wouldn't eat into his minutes. If Larkin could consistently give this team what Farmar did in terms of stabilizing and running the second unit, Pablo wouldn't play.
A lot of the rest is Fisher's inexperience. There are things you only learn from coaching (or assistant coaching). I don't think they're trying to tank as much as Fisher's just confused - which is natural when nothing you try seems to work.
Nets trying to trade Deron, Bropez, and Iso Joe, but I don't know if anyone is interested in those guys.
RT @ESPNSteinLine Story going online now co-scribed with @NotoriousOHM: ESPN sources say Nets have made D-Will, Brook Lopez & Joe Johnson available via trade
Does Wade want to spend his last two great years on a shitty team or should the Heat look to move him to a contender and tank?
By IWMTB19Does Wade want to spend his last two great years on a shitty team or should the Heat look to move him to a contender and tank?
Go to the Bulls Wade. LeBron fixed his hometown name.
By IWMTB19Nets trying to trade Deron, Bropez, and Iso Joe, but I don't know if anyone is interested in those guys.I'd be hypothetically interested in Bropez for a cheap price.
That contract though. Woof.
2014-15: $15,719,000
2015-16: $16,774,000 (player option)
Not as bad as D-Will and Joe's contracts though. Jesus Christ.
The Nets are Exhibits A, B, C, and D as to why even the richest owners will be afraid to enter deep into the tax for years to come.

Wow. Firesale to sell the team.
Why am I secretly scared that Mitch is going to try to acquire Deron and Lopez?
Lin/Nash/Hill are essentially expiring contracts. Hill has a team option for next year. So if they want to give up those 3 contracts for Deron/Lopez I think they could do it. Would be such a bad move long term though.
By IWMTB19Nets trying to trade Deron, Bropez, and Iso Joe, but I don't know if anyone is interested in those guys. The roster just doesn't fit Hollins. Square peg round hole. Still, didn't expect them to go this far.
I miss Kidd.

They haven't looked that great even with Westbrook and Durant back. I'll say they go 9-4, though, because they've got a decent amount of awful teams in that schedule.
Edit: Wait does Brooklyn even have their pick this year? I thought the Celtics had it. If they trade their core now, they're not getting anything this year.
By reiloOKC's remaining December schedule:I have them at 9-4, which would get us to 16-17 at the end of December. I'm honestly not all that confident since they've been playing terribly even in their last two wins, but I think they'll figure it out.

The goal would presumably not be to tank, but rather to get players that Hollins can use.

Is Hollins really the kind of coach you want to build a team around? He's not awful, but he's not really proven himself enough to warrant that kind of power I think.
By ratcliffjaFuck if I know, but they need it to work after choosing him over Kidd. I said from the start that we should've built around Kidd, he's going to be amazing, and everyone laughed at the time.By ForeverBy ratcliffjaEdit: Wait does Brooklyn even have their pick this year? So I got tickets to Raps/Nets back in October...and of course they just announced it's Drake Night again. Maybe this year I'll be fast and put the shirt on Ebay.
Did we talk about this here? Because it's kinda LOL.
I'm dying at "I think that's nice but bye."
The Los Angeles Lakers are under the belief that Kobe Bryant almost certainly will not sign another contract once his current two-year extension is over.
"All indications are, to me, from him, that this (two-year contract) is going to be it," Mitch Kupchak said. "If somebody's thinking of buying a ticket three years from now to see Kobe play, I would not do that. Don't wait. Do it this year."
Bryant has reportedly left open the possibility of signing another deal in 2016. He is nearing Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring leaders.
"When he does pass it," Kupchak said, "it's a testimony to consistency and playing at a high level for a long time. I think that's nice, but I think we all know that he would trade that for a team that competes for the playoffs or a championship."

So you read a clear compliment to Kobe and turned that into an insult? Your brain is quite a curious thing.

Mitch isn't even talking about Kobe's contract in the bolded.
He's talking about Kobe passing MJ on the scoring list and saying Kobe would rather be on a playoff team than pass MJ...
I think Kyoto got the two topics confused since it's it's in that snippet. Mitch isn't saying "but bye" there.
There's no insult or Mitch being Mitch. He's just saying the scoring title doesn't mean anything to Kobe...

1. Kobe will retire at the end of the contract
2. Kobe would rather be on a playoff team than pass MJ on the scoring list.

Yup. That's EXACTLY what the bolded is saying. It's a statement essentially saying "Kobe would rather be competing for chips than passing Jordan in scoring because he's all about winning."
Silver needs to ban the arena sounds while the ball is in play.
Hearing "LETS GO CAVS" blare over the speakers two minutes into the first quarter of a game with no one joining is so annoying. Let me hear the commentators and the natural reaction of the crowd instead of prerecorded chants and random noises.
The crowd will start chants when they want to and feel its necessary, not when you push push a button.

I forgot how horrible the Cavs interior D was. I turned on the game like 3 minutes ago and there have been 5 or 6 uncontested dunks/layups
Why does Cleveland just have Love standing in the corners a lot of the time? He's not an especially strong corner shooter.

I guess they want the open space for Lebron's drives. I haven't watched enough Cavs games to see how that's been working for them.

Look, I'm sure they didn't intend to say anything controversial, but there's no way they're not counting down to the end of their franchise hostage crisis, and it shows.
Everybody knows he's not really retiring at the and of that deal, they're laying the ground for him to ring chase somewhere else.
