Don't act like it's about you in general and what you do, I'm talking about your attitude here, regarding Overwatch. I don't care if you pick Lucio or give to the poors, I'm talking about your opinion here. You say selfishness is fine, I'm saying it's bullshit. That attitude is toxic.
It's a very simple thing. If picking a character in overwatch was in real life, not behind a screen, people would be curteous. There's a toxic culture online where people act selfish as fuck and won't extend basic respect. You say it's fine, i'm saying, people ought to grow up.

I don't know how things are where you live but this would definitely not be the case in America. People don't even hold the door open for others here. They would give less of a fuck about what someone thought of their Overwatch character pick.

is wrong. A 'fuckwad' isn't a normal person in real life, they're a fuckwad in real life. People don't change from real life to online.
I'm not saying it's fine. You had it right the first time. My stance is people are shitty, deal with it because there's not much you can do. Shitheads existed long before we were born and they'll continue to exist long after we're dead, I don't see the point in getting frustrated over something I can't control. I can ask someone to do something differently but if they don't want to then what? Why should I be annoyed or frustrated while this person goes on enjoying themselves?
But dude, we're venting here. It's not like it's changing my day. All it does is make me and my teammates curse on teamspeak when we see the two randoms we get pick Widow and Hanzo. Of course my blood pressure is unchanged, but in this thread, we can call it like it is, and say these guys suck and should be shamed.
it really is "just quickplay" though
As soon as we hit the off-season I knew I wasn't playing Overwatch again until season 2. Why? Because QP really is for fukkery. It's for yanking out your mic and seeing if you can improve your shit tier genji.
I knew what I was going to deal with if I played quickplay and I'd have no right to complain about it

QP is the only mode currently.

My one (1) single IRL friend that I have played Overwatch with picked Torb on offense in the Russia map. I tried to correct him in chat and in text. Teammates were mad, opponents were lul. I was embarrassed.
Defriended him. Have not spoken to him since. My college roommate of two years.
And this was Quick Play.
I'm with Giri on this. I don't know any Overwatch "pros" but I know a few in DotA 2, and they dick around in Online practice and in scrims when they "experiment." The purpose is explicitly agreed upon by all parties (is it possible to carry as Io?)
Like, is there anyone here or have encountered someone good enough at the game to legit claim that they are pushing the limits of the meta rather than just ruining games?
If you're not playing bots or custom games, then you're getting side-eyes. Yes, even in quick play.

Because QP is shit, I've went back to Destiny. Overwatch has got some pretty massive holes to fill if its gonna stay in the rotation right now.
By Rob Go To PostI'm not the one complaining that someone is wasting my time because they aren't playing how I want them to.
Yes, but your'e defending everyone's right to purposefully waste everyone else's time. Which is equivalent, or worse.
It's a team FPS that is objective based.
It is very far from unreasonable to expect people to play in a way such that you aren't detrimental towards the entire point of the game.
We see it differently, apparently.

Neither I nor Gaby have said you should be taking QP ultra serious. Practicing your shit tier genji is exactly what QP is for. But it's not ok to have a team of 6 genji's.
It doesn't facilitate practice at all, because you're not practicing in a scenario that is even close to "real".
"If i play QP i should expect to be in a shitfest of 3mei 3genji" Is a REALLY sad state of affairs.
Atleast it doesn't take 60 min for a game like CS Go, that's something right ?
But I agree there should be some from of control on it, to bad Blizz doesn't give a shit.

Stacking shouldn't be allowed to begin with. It's still not going to stop people from making shitty comps, just look at how much we all complained while the season was live.
Sometimes at work I get bored as fuck and I'm by myself most of the time so I think of the most random shit. It's probably the worst idea ever but would a moba-style character selection work? It would do a lot to freshen up the meta instead of it being a Lucio/Zen/Rein/Zarya/ and any combination of Tracer, Genji, Reaper and McCree

As in you can see the other teams heroes?
It's really complicated here because with MOBA's you get generic or specialist picks early, and then (in theory) counter picks later. And you can balance it out with items (Super important part of it all). And you have 30+ minutes to try and counter their strat / enforce your will.
Here you have a really short amount of time and no items. I think part of what can help one team is the surprise element. Particularly the defenders. That first time you get hit with a torb, and have to respawn, could waste 30 - 40 seconds of your initial time limit.
It's something i thought about often too. But I think you'd still see Lucio or w/e picked alot cause you don't really "counter" them. And then there'd be no later picks to "counter" the "counterable" heroes.

I think we should all just agree to disagree. No one is budging on that point and us debating personal tolerance of that stuff ain't gonna change a thing.
By Trey Go To PostI think we should all just agree to disagree. No one is budging on that point and us debating personal tolerance of that stuff ain't gonna change a thing.I don't have a problem with people discussing it. But it doesn't have to be the source of all our comments.
And yeah, in the end, it will come down to a personal stance.
Y'all should really be upset with Blizz that there's only one game mode for either competitive play or fuckin' around play. People are going to be shits, I also don't want to waste my time but people are going to be shits in games. Tier that shit out. Design around the people being shits factor better. I dunno how you're all discussing this and not once do some of you blame the developers for not accounting for this crap nor cultivating a better situation for all.
We all don't feel so strongly about it.
To be fair, they've admitted that they underestimated (or whatever) the demand for an in between. When it comes, I don't know. In the PTR they had quick play with ranking rules (no actual ranking) for the weekly brawl, on the new map. So, I guess they've been testing it.

Underestimated my ass. Always the lame ass excuses from devs. Anyone with a brain who's been playing games, fps or whatever the fuck could tell you people want competitive play (if not ranked yet still don't see why this can't be offered) and casual experimental play. Also how in fucks can a game company which has such a set up in Hearthstone play the fool? Are you kidding me?
I think most of us are aware that its' an issue that Blizzard could respond better on.
But that splitting the community up into a lot of different sub queue's will increase wait time. Something we all hate.
But Blizzard should have been better about this to start with.
There's also the fact that a lot of people are happy to act like morons and get downvoted / banned in free 2 play games. This isn't, so there's an assusmption there that you don't want to just throw away money.

Most games would sit pretty at around 4 different queues. Your ultra competitive shit, your experimental social crap that doesn't count for anything, your objective and your slayer. Maybe even a rumble for those games that have the interest. Have the objective just rotate as to not split it into far too many lists.
Have some ways to track and discourage behavior, quitting penalties, afk kicking, a method of reporting any other kinds of shit.
Make sure this is all set up from the beginning as best as possible to cultivate a better positive experience.
This shit really isn't difficult.
the great thing about playing hanzo when he wasn't that great and doing pretty ok is playing him now.

Discourage what behavior? Is this still about, "playing how I want to play" in quick play, or something else? They've already done a lot more about trying to facilitate team play, outside of having a 1 life only mode like CS or something.
There have been quitting penalties since Season 1 comp began, or did you mean that they should have been harsher? I'd be prone to agree, but I'm pretty sure they worked on that for season 2. Are you talking about Quickplay?
Vote to kick should have been in from the jump...agreed. The auto afk kicking takes you out of the game if you even dare to look away from the monitor. lol
They had a harsher reporting/down voting system at the start, but people would abuse it, because they couldn't handle taking an L. You can still report players. It takes like ten seconds to do.
Their afk thing is shite i know, I was about to be kicked for just sitting as bastion for a bit lmao.
4 queue's IS a lot. Particularly in SEA.
And i'd hate to be doing that on console.
I remmeber queuing in halo 3 and that could take ages thanks to it having about 10 different queue's.

By Lupercal Go To PostHanzo buffed ?Every time I play with 5 friends, we know there's a strong change the random will take Hanzo, and we always complain because they never deliver. At least he might be more productive now.
Blizzard pls, how about other characters who need it, don't buff already good heroes.
2 and 1 solo q to start--not bad given I absolutely had to carry my two wins. So far so good with Hanzo. Dominant. Tracer too.
One underrated thing is BAD road hogs. I feel like roadhog is the one character that gets immune from criticism when he can REALLY be a shit pick against a good team that likes to sit behind a good Reinhardt. Missing hooks all over the place, never getting close enough to dominate with his ult, not doing any ranged damage...it can go to shit real fast with him. And it's troubling me because I'm seeing him SO often in my solo q's.

I think competitive on the regular channel is slightly harder than on the PTR. I'm still platinum, but I ranked lower. Could be due to me not playing what I want, but my rank is now probably more representative of my general level. It's too easy to be on fire with DVa's shield, which inflates the rank IMO.
2388
Yuck. That's so low.
Won my first 4 games, out of the last 6 i have 1 win, 1 draw, 4 losses.
I swear to GOD people are fucking horrible at pushing a point. Particularly on volskya.
Also, I can calrify my problem with a lot of junkrat pickers. Junkrat is great at doing mass damage and clogging up choke points. Brilliant at it. But as soon as someone flanks... he's horrible at actually killing the flanker. Most people with him can't / don't predict their aim. They just spam.

Sad
But I honestly may just not play enough.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostRoadhog has too high of a pick rate these daysGreat pick though, in certain places. Where people are fighting around choke points and he can hover around the edges of fights, he's great. Land a hook and you can ruin a push / create a push.
Where there's any sort of distance / flanking, he's usually bad.
I've noticed a lot fewer D.Va picks lately. Which.. is annoying.
