I don't give a shit about who picks what, as long as we're winning. lol. Why would I care about a Torb on offense, if he's doing a great job of suppressing the other team, or making them focus purely on his turrets, or making it feel like we have an extra character on the team (cause his gun is actually great), etc...? Rob has made that shit work, every time I've played with him. LOL
I am trash at Rein. If it comes down to needing a Rein and I'm on death, I'll let people know. I'd rather someone whom has clocked the hours use him, than struggle. Shield timing is everything, especially when you face off in a mirror match.
*picks Symmetra on Hanamura or Hollywood.*
"It's going to be a good day."
"Everyone but D.Va is going to die."
"If things are going kinda sideways, I'll have gold in eliminations/final blows. If not, then my team is great."
"Gonna kill this wanna-be shonen-ass Genji when he focuses down the turrets, instead of me."
I realize this convo has carried on past this point, but all but maybe Torb have a mechanic that basically communicates to the team for you. Depending on situation, they're perfectly fine in random matches.
Let's be real, people can lack total awareness, but everyone can figure out what to do when they see a tele, or red people glowing through the damn walls. lol

By Gabyskra Go To PostPeople who pick Symmetra, Hanzo, Widow, Torbjorn, considering there's little communication in random matches? People who look at the roster and decide to pick a 5th player that's neither a tank nor a heal, when you don't have either yet? What is going through your mind. It's the same kind of people who will complain about others during the game, because their Ult worked on a couple people, and they think it must mean they're carrying the team.

I'm more interested in experimenting and practicing than I am being ultra "try hard" on quick play. If someone can school me on a certain character, on a certain map, with a certain tactic, then I'm down to learn. Besides, I float between the characters depending on the situation, as is.
Ranked is a different story. Again, if they're a character specialist and are making it work, then so be it.
I normally play in a group that talks though (and does run proper classes), so eh.
a lot of people just don't understand hero selection--it's better to be a little below average as a hero that's a great pick against a team than to pick a hero you're good at but have to play at an elite level to get work done against

They'd just rather get as little as eight non-impact kills with Genji and lose, than learn to play something else and actually have a chance. Ballhogs in basketball know what they're doing. Selfish players in overwatch too.
By Trey Go To PostI'm not seeing where I'm wrong.Because you're effectively sayings it's ok for everyone to waste my time and ruin the enjoyment of the game for everyone else just so they can piss around on genji.
It's also advocating for people to purposefully troll everyone.
It's basically wrong in every regard.
I'm not saying stubbornly picking your hero is okay - as if that qualification matters. I'm saying solo pubs are generally going to do it regardless of how you feel, so the best bet to get a consistently balanced composition is to roll in premades. This game is particularly bad for solo queuing because its game design is based on direct counters and switching heroes on the fly, the sort of communication and sacrifice that is the antithesis of solo queuing.
you have more than half the folks in this thread telling you they're just not going to play a certain class(es) regardless. So you can scale that ideology up to the userbase at large. And beyond being pithy about it, there's nothing you can do about that fact. They'll just ignore you because you're a random they don't have to deal with beyond that game, play the hero they want to play/have the most fun with, and keep it moving while you stay big mad.
Perhaps as the game ages and people have more experience with a variety of heroes, this problem will begin to alleviate itself. But until that time, your best bet is to preserve your sanity and scout out regulars to play with.

There IS nothing i can do about it. But it doesn't mean that it's either good for enjoyment, good for the game, good for the larger community, good for player development. Nor should we all just throw our hands up and pick 6 genji's. It's not something that should be seen as "acceptable".
It happens in every game. Dota / LoL regularly have teams with idiots who pick carries despite having 3 already on the team.
Doesn't mean it's good. Doesn't mean you're helping. It probably means you're hindering.
In quick play, for the record, i just leave the game. I don't sit around and get mad, nor do i preach in game. It's annoying have to requeue, but i'll leave those bunch of idiots to play on their own.
And you can say they're "having the most fun" but when they're on loss 25 in a row and never play the game again........
And I say this as someone who IS happy to play with others, in quick play, who are BAD at the role/hero they're playing. Quick play IS meant to be a place to learn, experiment, try things. It's not ultra try hard mode. But not doing the basics means you're setting up for failure. And that is just plainly, not fun for any one.
just play 76 if you want to always play the same character. i can't think of when he's not at least useful
Maybe some of that conversation is between people who are at different stages of playing the game. You would think people start caring about winning more after a while, and also they get tired of always playing the same one. Curiosity and experience should win out, maybe giri and I are impatient.

By Trey Go To PostKnight Reinhardt skin when
I still need the damn Mercy Olympics skin. The only one i don't have. And the only one i really wanted.
I got a drop with 2 of the Olympics skins last night, both i've already got. And i had the other two items too. GG Blizzard for the loot crates with 4 repeats.
Shit happens with randoms, especially in a class/hero based game. It doesn't pair you with teammates based on playstyle, so you can get Reinhardt mains on the same team or 6 support players. People tend to stick with what they're comfortable with because everyone cares so much about a meaningless win and will harass the fuck out of someone because his 10 minute Reaper isn't as good as Seagull's.
They should've done it like LoL, lock out Comp for people below a level (and not 25, 25 is gotten is 2 days if you play enough)
Lock it out until lvl 50, make you learn more heroes and atleast try to and voila.
And return hero stacking pls :(

Torb/Hanzo/Symmetra are never seen in comp.
Widow/Bastion/Mei are almost never seen and are "cheesey"
Then the middle ranging between good everywhere and situational depending on map / strat.
Then the will see almost every game
Lucio/Zenyatta/ Reaper/McCree
The good heroes aren't really OP, but the ones that are out of the meta aren't really useful. Not reliably so.
I wonder if the delay between S1 ending and S2 starting is because they'll release a balance patch at the end of S1?
Well, Zenyatta is in every game that's a given, then Lucio, Reinhardt, Soldier, Pharah and Reaper.
Some McCree's and I think one Widow but she was frigging pro.

Saw the new map on Twitter. Can't wait. Anything to water down the probability of queuing a control point map.
HUGE PATCH incoming
Genji
Double jump no longer resets when wall climbing
Dash
No longer deals damage to traps like Widowmaker's Venom Mine or Junkrat's Steel Trap
No longer bypasses Junkrat's Steel Trap
Swift Strike
No longer interrupts quick melee attacks
Dragonblade
Duration of Genji's ultimate has been reduced from 8 seconds to 6 seconds
Developer Comments: Genji was a little too difficult to pin down, and these changes will balance his speed. Swift Strike no longer cancels the recovery time from a quick melee attack, so players will no longer be able to get a free melee attack before using Swift Strike. Lastly, Dragonblade's duration was long enough that it often felt too difficult to reasonably counter.

hope your fave gets hit next by 'blizzard balance'
Genji wasn't even that hard to take out. Players are just lazy, don't want to look behind them and get decimated by a good flanker, suddenly it's broken. Overwatch's meta is just going to be altered by mobs of scrubs.
Handzo getting un-nerfed and increase projectile speed + movement speed increase when bow is drawn.

It's on the PTR, so we'll see if it sticks (probably will).
That Lucio speed nerfed though...
Tracer will get killed off after the internet's done crying about Genji. Then Reaper.
I'm always playing Hanzo now. Be prepared.

What is the purpose of anti-flanking traps, if Genji could bypass them? Lol. Should have been fixed.
He basically had a triple jump with the reset. Lol. Considering how they feel about Ana, I'm surprised they let it rock this long.
We'll see how he lives with the broken combo and the ultimate fix.

No one's complaining about the Junkrat or Widow change or the Ult time even.
The jump is the bullshit. If you played Hanzo or Genji enough, you'll know how unreliable the scamper activating can be in the heat of a fight. It doesn't matter if you can triple jump if you're in a wide open area. A Triple jump isn't going to instantly save you from all the characters in the game with lock-on or spread damage. Not only that, but it's just a solid fun nerf. Imagine if Lucio had to touch the ground every time he starts a new wall grind.

I think myself to be a damn competent Genji player, and the only change I think sucks Mandingo dick is the nerf to his ultimate duration.
It's difficult enough to find a time during a good (competitive) match to whip out the sword to maximize its full duration without dying or deflecting. Now the window for efficiency is even shorter?
Frustrating.
And yes, I've picked up Tracer, but she's too predictable for my taste. I've never played Reaper in about 100hrs. Might be time to try himβ¦.
By data Go To PostNo one's complaining about the Junkrat or Widow change or the Ult time even.Lucio can't jump to the same surface. Always has to be a new surface.

But yeah, the Genji nerf was stupid. If anything reduce the length of the sword during his ult? The tripple jump one is silly and targets the wrong thing.
I like the mercy buff though. May be relevant again!
Hanzo is fucking silly. lmao. McCree made it through PTR unscathed, so I'm curious if the same happens here.
Can't really field test in these Hanzo conditions, but the upgraded healing definitely helped people feel kind of scary now. Still wish that they would do something with her pistol or damage amp.

Yeah, was watching seagull play Hanzo. Seems a little stronk atm. We'll see tho.
I was playing SC2, and that gives me little faith that Blizzard know how to balance games anymore.

I don't get the mei ultimate thing.
She didn't seem to have much of a problem with it before. It was just as effective as any of the other AOE ults.
I hate her iceblock skill though and wish it would get changed. Needs to be like roadhogs heal. Where he can still take damage during the heal, but it heals really fast.

I feel like her ice block just conflicts with the character in general. Her wall should be used to separate 1 or 2 people from the rest of their team while your whole team focuses on them. I don't see why she needs a self-heal ability instead of another skill that hinders enemies. (maybe ice spikes or some shit to block a path, similar to junkrats trap) Unlike Roadhog she's not a tank, she doesn't need that survivability. She also shouldn't be at the forefront of a battle like 76.
Defense characters in general fucking suck in this game. You watch pro teams and on defense they still pick offensive heroes. Widowmaker doesn't even seem to get picked much anymore.
