did they fuck up highlights/potm?
Zarya ult'd and I used my ult with Pharah for a triple kill/quad elim and a McCree got it for doing nothing, ok that's fine. I go to check my highlights and it's some random ass 76 clip I had on the attacking side

They mucked around with POTM mechanics.
Cause they were terrible before anyway.
Ana seems ... ok. Will take a few games to get used to it i think.
But she and Zen now provide a real alternative as your second support.

You Pharah players have your work cut out for you now...LOL. To many anti-air guns on these streets.
By Gabyskra Go To PostI don't understand Ana. Her shots are not very powerful at all. She's not a DPS character her self. But a buffer. Throw in a well timed stun.
But she should be doing chip damage / constant damage.
Both her abilities are really good. But need to be used properly.
Don't think she's as straight forward mercy / lucio.
Being able to deny the other team healing while taking a point is super powerful though.
Her sleeping dart is extremely powerful. Outside of shutting down ults, it can be used as a get out of jail free card, if you can land it. I'm pretty sure her sleeping dart combo (dart, punch, biotic grenade, rifle, punch (something like that)) can kill off 200hp heroes/villains.
Still, your primary focus should be healing. If all you're trying to do is snipe the opposite team, you're better off with Widow.

You certainly should be healing as much as possible. But landing a few snipes is also great. It's a real balance thing.
Your gun has 8 rounds. You probably want to be healing with 6 of them.

It works when they're knocked out.
I've seen Ana's trying to out-snipe Widow. It doesn't work like that. lol
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthis patch is taking a minute to download what the fuckgo into your settings and change it. mine was set at like 100KB/s for some reason and i was wondering why the hell it took so long
Ana plays like a healing McRee. Her rate of fire is just slightly slower than his single fire and like McRee her most dangerous combos are in that range where she can safely land the sleep dart, put a shot into them while they are on the ground and follow up with a melee. As a healer she has utility but even as a good shot I found I wasn't able to really "save" people from dying. Shooting a distant Pharrah in the back didn't do anything but delay the inevitable when she was taking heavy burst damage from certain characters for example.
A lot that was also frustrating was that it's so clear that people are very much used to not really seeking out healing. With Lucio's passive healing and Mercy's ability to jump from player to player, there were a lot of times I could have gotten someone to full health if they would have just moved around that corner to give me a shot. Hopefully the player base starts to take note.
My initial thought too was the ult was a little poorly thought out. There aren't a ton of heroes that her ult is "fantastic" on. Without a Reinhardt or Genji the best player I could find in a match to boost was Bastion, who I shot while he was in tank mode and got an alright push going, but having to mostly wait for another players ult to be up in order for YOUR ult to do anything is pretty shit. It also doesn't last all that long either.
Her main issue is she doesn't have a place right off the bat due to Zen. If you want to push and take a point...Lucio and Zen provide better buff ults. As a healer she's tied with Zen, in terms of damage Zen is better. So Zen is more or less just better at everything.
Speaking of Zen---and maybe it's because I just love playing Soldier, but I think he's a must in a lot of games now. With his ability to survive more and spread the debuff around a lot faster, you're desperate to have him on your team in tank heavy rounds.

just ulted a reinhardt as ana twice in comp and he just sat there stupidly holding the shield without even going on the offensive

The combo doesn't work because they got woken up when taking damage.
So you're trying to land multiple melee hits....
Not saying it can't happen. Just ... i wouldn't be trying to get that as a combo.
Also, she has quite a few ult targets. Phara, McCree, Reaper. Genji, Winston, Bastion too.
But that's why i said her and Zen are about ease of execution. Ana requires your team to be aware of you. Which most people who play tank / dps really suck at.
But Ana's ability to completely counter Zen's ult is pretty devastating.
By data Go To PostAll these ult counterplays and Mercy still doesn't have oneYes she does.

But more seriously. When Mercy cast's res it takes a few seconds to people to actually revive. ... D.va Ult. Wipes them all out and will take out the Mercy too.

There is nothing you can do about Mercy's ult. 'Kill her' applies as a counter to everyone's ult.

I don't see how Ana + Lucio beats Lucio + Mercy. Fun character, makes the news, but it doesn't change the meta. The gap is too big.
By Gabyskra Go To PostI don't see how Ana + Lucio beats Lucio + Mercy. Fun character, makes the news, but it doesn't change the meta. The gap is too big.because Ana's ult is basically "lets get this free cap". With Mercy/Lucios it's basically a battle of attrition and most Mercys only get 1 or 2 revives at the max, and thats if they aren't holding onto it to try and get 3+ rez
Everytime an Ana ult'd my Reaper I wiped out the enemy team with ease, without needed to use Q.
There's what, 22 characters in this game? I refuse to believe you need a Rein/Mercy/Lucio. People just haven't experimented enough
good post
to be fair the pro scene seems excited/intrigued by her utility, does make sense with people that actually work together, fancy that

Aye, why did they slightly nerf Symmetra on Hollywood (they got rid of the middle tree on point A)? >:( The minute you saw one turret, you had to have known that others were going to be sitting in those trees under the ac unit (or whatever that is).

I feel Overwatch is suffering from 2 things:
- it fails to deliver on the rock/paper/scissor premise
- people don't communicate/collaborate
And I'm worried that Blizzard will not address those, they think it's more marketable to have cool designs and introducing new characters with comic book stories... Too much emphasis on cosmetics, not enough on the meta.

Whose fault is this? If you're not communicating, that's on you and your team.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostWhose fault is this? If you're not communicating, that's on you and your team.I think in the mechanics of the game, there's too much you can get away with, being a lone wolf. It's a few minutes long sprint. I wonder how Blizzard can get people to talk.
I'd love to be proven wrong, but, there is probably nothing much that can help that. Some people don't like reading chat and some don't like listening to others. Certain types of people hit a wall and give up, when they face more coordinated teams: they don't don't care about improving as a unit or solo. This is a fps with a lack of KDR focus, and hotkeys telling teammates to group-up and some people still can't grasp that it's supposed to be team based. Some people don't have mics. As Dy puts it, some people think that they're better than they actually are. The list goes on.
Unless the skill gap is really that great between players, lone wolfing only works as long as the other team allows it to.
Unless the skill gap is really that great between players, lone wolfing only works as long as the other team allows it to.
A lot of players still don't understand how basic team comps work.
Have a reinhardt? pick people that can shoot through shield, block up a choke point.
The other team is death balling? Zarya ult with a wombo combo.
And so on and so on.

It's not really a fair comparison for guns and class based characters but even then weapons are situational. I didn't watch ESL Cologne because I'd rather be stuck in a room with etiolation than support ESL, but at MLG Columbus the players of Luminosity (won the event) were using SMGs on gun rounds and being extremely effective with it. fer for example was dominating on Mirage by putting pressure in mid and in palace. Now does that mean people don't have to buy M4s and can just buy SMGs? Of course not. They can serve a purpose when used under the right circumstances.
As for Overwatch, unlike Mercy, Zenyatta can heal and provide a damage boost simultaneously. He can also put out damage himself without having to sacrifice his ability to heal or dmg boost. His ult is great for initiating a team fight instead of going into a team fight and hoping your Mercy lives to rez everyone after they die. He got better survivability with the latest update as well.
People swear Symmetra is useless on attack but I disagree. On maps like Volskaya and Hanamura I use her and if my teammates can get me an opening and allow me to get behind enemy, I can place a teleporter behind enemy lines so that now you're not just funneling into a narrow chokepoint. It works on those maps because enemies usually will never go to certain areas of the map
There's a dude that got to rank 80 using only Torbjorn, so he can obviously be useful on attacking/KOTH as well.
Every character can be useful but everyone just cares about winning instead of taking risks and trying new things. This game is like 3 months old and people already have a meta set in stone. I won't accept that certain characters are necessary.
I think there are two different discussions there that should not be confused.
- can you be relatively great with a minor character? Of course. In CSGO, a high rank with a crappy gun will still perform like a rather high rank because he understands the general principles of positioning, teamplay, etc. So yes, you can have fun with Torb.
- it doesn't mean you can be optimal with just any character. I really fail to see how any healer can be as useful as Lucio. It seems to me that the meta changes with game updates, not so much with strategies. I hope I'm wrong.

Meta updates come from both. They obviously will. The game is still so young though that finding out roles / situations for every class is still a long way away.
Countering teams that were just running reinhardt / 76 comps and death balling their way onto points / escorting with Zarya is a strat example.
The fact that pro-teams are now experimenting with Zenyatta in the team is a patch example.
Then teams will be mucking around with using Ana to counter Zen pushes?
The only real constant is Lucio with his aoe heal. How they get teams to drop a lucio for another class.... feels like a nerf bat thing.
Yo...sending Winston into a crowd with Nano boost and then having him use his ulti the second it wears off, is pure chaos. No healers were safe that round.
Ana's actual combo is sleep dart, melee, grenade, rifle. The melee into grenade is basically instantaneous (do it out of order and it's slow af), and the left click comes out really fast. On the training bots, it leaves only one bit of health. Purely situational, but if you know you can get the kill on an assassin like Genji or you managed to stun a Tracer, then it might be great to finish them off. If not, run away and alert a close teammate.
I have zero evidence to back this claim up, but I'm pretty sure Mei is great for dealing with sleeping enemies. I'm almost certain that I saw the slowdown affecting a sleeping character (a Tank) as they were rising up from the nap. By the time they were back in control, the ice gawd already had them dead to rights.

Ugh. Hate people.
I actually just had a game on Dorado as Hanzo where I was up on the notorious sniper perch, where it passes the building and sort of has a u shaped road. You know the one.
Anyways, I was going between there and up to the little connected patio area and was doing the Hanzo deal. And the enemy team Ana kept trying to get into snipe battles with me. I'm not talking about like taking pot shots at me. I'm talking like the whole 'move behind cover come out of cover repeat aiming at the target' shebang. It was kind of funny.
And we really pushed the cart back. I was reigning decent death and our Lucio was extremely good. And they made a push at the end and got the cart back because we overextended. And it was like last second absolutely no time left on the clock when they got the cart back. They come down the same pathway from before. I use my ult on the cart, they all leave the cart to avoid it 'Victory'
That was the kind of shit I wish was POTG. Making the team leave their cart in overtime.

Basically been doing this to practice with McCree and Widow. Not indicative of real matches, but eh.
Has there ever been a shooter that had the equivalent of a fighting game training mode? It would be real nice to be able to do shit like set the AI to bunnyhop, strafe, crouch walk, etc...
Perfect Dark on the N64 had a bunch of AI options you could set to change their personality and tactics.
But nothing on the level you are talking about comes to mind.

My McRee is starting to get pretty good. The damage fall off fix really really did the trick.
...Problem though is that nobody is taking an L to that ult anymore. Minus something like a mei or Zarya ult, I can't get a successful multi kill to save my life. If its not Reinhardt blocking the damage its everyone else scattering under storm drains.
I don't really have any nor am I completely sure if there should be a solution but yea..
