The prospect of England not getting a World Cup til 2066 makes me sad
I've come to terms with the fact that I may well never see us win it, but its just really annoying knowing how well placed we are to host it, and how old I'll probably be when it happens

Never really thought about how dark this Only Fools episode is
This German woman basically gets raped by her employers' son, then thrown out by her employers when they find out.

I can't decide between these two. first one is cheaper, but second one has a transparent back. I like transparent backs.

What episode is that?
Aye.
And the more I watch "About Time", the more it annoys me.
Look at these massive toffs. No I mean really. LOOK at them swanning about. They spend their days just charmingly being themselves, innit. And now - wait for it - the men (those already possessed of historically cascading social advantages) CAN FUCKIN TIME-TRAVEL. ONE OF THEM EVEN GETS BORED OF IT.
It's like someone fire-hosing sherry up my nose

I love About Time.
It has Rachel McAdams being absolutely adorable in it, and Bill Nighly who is just a joy to watch. That's reason enough.

Sal, do you have something against the middle class? Were you once beaten up by a group of men wearing John Lewis polo shirts?
By S@l Go To PostThat's how they get us, Puffsindeed.
A lot of movies that I like have some nigglings problems in it.
Civil War has some great battles, but once you think about it they are just taking the shit out of each other. There's no tension in the Airport Battle
Dark Knight is great, but the bomb threat in the 3rd act is a bore to watch in repeated viewings
Before Midnight is fantastic, but I can live without seeing Julie Delphy's sagging tits again.
Not a fan of the animation part of The Quest For The Holy Grail
It's like in a relationship. You still love your significant other, but goddamn sometimes please I just want to play Football Manager.
I'm yet to be beaten up by a group of men. Delight awaits.
But Yurt knows my sexual horizons have, all of a sudden, potentially expanded to that degree.

I like the second one. Why can't you get hte first one with a crystal sapphire back? Is it quartz or something?
Any word on what the basis for GotG2 will be?
My favourite bits of the first were when it links Peter to his past, hope there's more of that as soppy as it is
I think that's why I've enjoyed watching the Marvel films tbh, they're kind of humanist and optimistic at heart. Whether they do it cheaply or not doesn't really matter to me, and thinking about it, I'm not sure Batman could fit in at all. Gotham is representative of a population that has been completely defeated by corruption and darkness, whereas the MCU seems much less willing to present people like that from what I've seen.
Helps of course that the majority of screentime involves characters who are supposed to represent the best of humanity, even in the non-humans.

Fuck me, i am spending today watching all the batman films.
Fuck me the Burton films look so bad.
there is one scene when everyone starts throwing tomatoes and lettuce. Where the fuck did everyone get them from? Unless it is just standard Gotham practice to take those to political speeches, just in case.
It is mechanical, just not a feature that model has.

I'm in a cafe reading The Times, drinking a latte and waiting for my "build your own" five-item breakfast. It's all very bourgeois. Opted for black pudding instead of beans.
Paul Scholes is saying Pep wouldn't have taken the City job, were he asked now. To be honest I think it's hard to second-guess the decisions of a man that thinks the Etihad is a destination at all.
Haven't followed The Reds muppetry to an acceptable standard thus far. Know we are trying for Gotze. Have seen we want that Dembele kid who seems certain to move to Dortmund. Beyond that, zilch.
Did see that Morata fancies United. Can we not just get Jurgen to call him and bellow a joke.

DKR puts me right off rewatching the Nolan trilogy
What a sour note to end on. Was thoroughly underwhelmed throughout watching it, got even worse when I thought about it on the way home, and then even worse from there when reading other people's complaints which were perfectly valid.
None of it worked for me. Didn't like the way Bane looked, didn't like the way he sounded, not nearly enough of Batman being Batman, Catwoman felt shoehorned in, plot contrivances throughout that were ludicrous even by superhero film standards, every emotional beat fell flat, anticlimaxes all over the place, socio-economic parables that had become boring to listen to and think about months and months in advance of the film coming out.

Don't want him anywhere near the Superman universe for that matter, and they've had fucking decades to try and get that right.
Just let Batman be Batman innit. Superman is an albatross round his neck.
Forgot to mention that when used properly, you can use Gotham as a character almost, and film by film Nolan seems to have completely dispensed with that idea. Underuse of Arkham was particularly disappointing.
Gotham ain't just a backdrop, it's Batman's reason to live.

Dortmund already snapped up Dembelee
Ancelotti reveals that his glittering management career almost included Manchester United, but that the job went to David Moyes instead
A bit misleading, when Fergie asked Carlo about taking the United job, Madrid had already been in contact with him and agreed a deal.
Ancelotti on Conte
I mean, Antonio reduced Del Piero to a token injury time substitution 💀
Chelsea have already hired current Azzurri Coach Conte for next season.right on all accounts
“He’s very tough, very focused on strategy. Antonio is not so diplomatic. He’s really direct. I think the owner will appreciate the intensity of his work.”
Few know Conte’s personality better than Ancelotti, as they go way back.
“He was my captain at Juventus. He was always really serious, really focused, really concentrated. As a manager he’s the same.
“He has really good experience, starting in the second division. So he won titles with Bari and Siena before Juventus. He’s really focused on the little details. I’m sure he will do a good job.
“Chelsea understand that this is a new cycle. One period stops and another starts. They have to replace Terry, Lampard, not just as the players but the personality, the image.
“Every club has this moment, Milan when they lost Maldini and Gattuso. It takes time to replace the structure. It makes it a really big challenge.
“But I spoke with Antonio and he’s really excited.”
There is the issue of a match-fixing trial from 2011 when he was accused of not reporting a potential fix while at Siena.
“It’s bull****,” declared Ancelotti. “His case will be solved without problem for him. He won’t come with a stain.
“In Italy, they make a big case because it’s him. But with Antonio, I can put my hand in the fire for him. He’s really serious, really honest, a really, really good man.”

Moyes is truly the luckiest man ever. The universe converged to take him to United.
I've seen that Martial has been approached by PSG. It's being reported he's now being approached by multiple clubs.
Would be incredibly surprised if anything comes out of it.
Oh and Lucas Moura seems available, his agent expressing he's unhappy about his situation and playing time.
