And devs that make good fighting games must think "we definitely make better fighting mechanics than this because ths is bang average to control".
And devs that make good driving games must think "this feels tacked on and lacks depth".
And devs that make good 3D platformers must think "this controls itself".
It's so true, like the games or not, they typically raise the bar with levels of polish usually reserved for Church brogues.

Naughty Dog are some of the best devs out there, no question about it. I know next to nothing about UC4, but I truly hope it's the last from them. Enjoyed some of them a lot, but I want to see them do more standalone IP's like the last of us. Hell do a sequel to the last of us with completely new cast and make a new game as well with their other team. Thanks.

I think they've made exactly the game they wanted to make. It's a matter of design choices. Personally, the one thing I feel could be 'better' is the platforming. Better meaning 'essentially in the same style, but a tad more challenging'.
Everything else is pretty much perfectly aligned with what my idea of what a (mainstream) cinematic action adventure game should be.
