great series, feel bad for Gondo but the positive is that KD stays for at least one more run and they can do it if they flip some assets for slight upgrades.
for the finals, i'm not ready to bet on a sweep for GS yet, i'd say GS gets in foul trouble and the refs get one for LBJ.
GS in 5.

Is KD definitely staying? I think I'm open to the idea of him at the spurs but I know it wont happen just because we dont trade superstars.
Great series, OKC legit shocked me and I think I just have to take my hats off to them as the best team won.

i just see no clear destination for him, i mean yeah you could go east but which east franchise do you trust making the right moves for the next 4 years? Miami i guess but they are old and do you really want to do the same as lebron?
in the west he might as well stay in OKC, no way he'll join GS. Spurs is possible but i don't think he wants to go there.
2 year deal with player option in OKC and see what WB does.

Boston has to look sexy at least... and maybe DC with a PG who likes to pass...
But OKC is as good as any spot
Only real negative from last night: Dion signaled his intention to re-sign. We'll see what happens when the offers start to roll in though.
If he can play within himself on O and play like a banshee on D like he did during the playoffs I'd be fine with paying him $10 million.
The really interesting thing will be to see what happens with Kanter. Really don't think we can afford to keep him even though I like the dude and he's made strides this year.
Also really really hope we can bring Abrines over.

thought about boston but imho they're not ready, they would have to trade the 3 pick and something for another great player.
i begged your franchise to take Capela at 21 in the 2014 draft Gondo, just saying. (you took Dleague legend Mitch McGarry)
By Dipro Go To Postthought about boston but imho they're not ready, they would have to trade the 3 pick and something for another great player.actually Boston as is with only KD a top 2 or 3 team in the East... Considering they tied for 3rd with Atl Cha and Mia. Plus they have picks to play with

No indication those picks will result in anything good--Rosier, Hunter, and Young look like ass and they don't seem dedicated to Olynyk or Sully. You can argue Smart is a bust too given his draft position and horrific offense. Philly would be stupid to trade Okafor for Boston 1sts in a draft like this. .
By Dipro Go To Postthought about boston but imho they're not ready, they would have to trade the 3 pick and something for another great player.Mitch could still be something, especially if we trade Kanter. He was promising in his rookie season but there simply weren't many opportunities for him this past year.

if durant wants money and to have a shot, OKC for a one year contract makes the most sense. Since after this next season he'll qualify for the vet max he'd be dumb to do a long contract this offseason and staying in OKC seems like the best bet for another run next season.
But i guess we'll see what's up soon enough
But i guess we'll see what's up soon enough
Next season will be the big test since if KD re-signs for 1 year, both him, Russ and Ibaka will all be UFAs.
That said we should be fine as long as we stay healthy and Donovan continues to instill the good habits we displayed during most of the playoffs.

The team, even with durant, isn't ready. Their front court would still be horrendous. And a Okafor trade is promising but far from certain.
He'd be better off going to portland and bringing dwight. Or Utah.
Or going to Detroit, Indiaana, Atlanta.
Like, Utah is a better put together team than any other option.
Detroit is a team coming together, and in the East (though they do have a Morris twin....)
Indiana has PG13. You start with PG13 and KD as your base you can build quite the team around that.
And you have Atlanta a really well run franchise with a great system, lots of role players, and a great coach, in the East.

Tyronn Lue said he won't be scared to play his big lineup against the Warriors.Did I say GSW in 5? GSW in 4. The things Dray will do to Frye...
The Warriors smaller lineup can present challenges to opposing teams, but Lue is confident the Cavs big men can continue to be effective. While Timofey Mozgov hasn't played much in the postseason, he had some success against the Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals and could be dusted off for 10-15 minutes per game. Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, and Channing Frye will continue to see the majority of Cleveland's "big" minutes.
well, it will be interesting to see if GSW respects anyone but lebron this time around. Last year, a pack of wild vagrants helped lebron get to a game 6 against these kids, i imagine he's got a better shot this year

Cavs in 6. Golden State will be tired as hell and Cleveland will be rested. With Kyrie shooting as he is and Kevin Love playing healthy this series, I don't see how LeBron loses. Golden State has been playing sloppy with their passing game and has been a shit show with offensive boards.
"Tired" argument doesn't matter in Finals when there's two days rest between games and the series will last nearly 3 weeks.

They were just playing the most athletic team in the play offs. In either conference. That were playing a really great defensive scheme.
Cav's can't pressure GSW like that with Kyrie and Love. Love just isn't that athletic, and Kyrie is far less interested in defense than YNB ever was.
And if they switch to their defensive lineup that they used last year... GSW just go small and and "lineup of death" them again.

What a great series. Game 6 was the game of the year, no doubt. Klay was unreal and the Steph carried them in the 2nd half of game 7, offensively.
Iggy was a FUCKING BEAST on defense the last 2 games. It sucks how little credit he gets among the media. The things he was doing on D was so fucking good. And Klay's defense was elite, as well.
I hate the narrative that OKC choked. Okay, they choked a bit in game 6 at the end but not game 7. And a lot of that was because GSW's defense went to its peak level for stretches.
GSW made every move I recommended here after game 5. I said they had to crash the boards and slow the game down. Well, game 7 was one of their slowest games of the year and they didn't really lose the rebounding battle in the final 3 games. I said they had to play bigger and in games 5 and 6 they did (with Adams sitting to much in game 7 they could play their small lineup more). I said Curry shouldn't guard WB and he mostly didn't (and I said Iggy should get him a bit and he did!). I said they had to go to their conventional defense and for the most part, they did.
What I'm saying is is that I should be a coach :P
Great series. Can't imagine the Finals lives up to this one. Great final 3 games. Not the best series ever (3 games were bad blowouts) but great nonetheless.
edit: What did OKC in, overall, which is obvious, was their inability to consistently hit the 3 ball. WB, Roberson, Adams/Kanter are not good at it and Waiters isn't reliable at it. Oh, and Durant isn't going to get the same open looks he gets against other teams, here. They need that release valve so badly.
If they could somehow put Morrow and Roberson in a machine and come out as Andonthy Morrerson, it would be enough.

cavs will win game 1--fully rested and have been thinking about this all year, and the dubs will be slightly lax after getting another 3 losses to work with
lebron is going to go right back to what he did last year and the slow the pace the fuck down by working through the post every possession to abuse whoever the dubs put on him and kyrie will work well within the gravity lebron creates from that just like he did before his knee exploded
dubs will win the series but its going to take 7 again I think

They could run it back and probably not get too much flack for it but Im not sure that would be enough to put them over the top. It would definitely handicap them if any of those players do what many expect them to do and not live up to their inflated contracts.

Normally I hate the term choking because it never gives credit to the other team or player but in this situation I think it fits. They regressed back to poor habits in the Games 5 and 6 as opposed to continuing to play the way that got them to eliminate the Spurs and go up 3-1 against GS.
There was nothing GS did that forced Durant or Russ to play hero ball, they went and did it on their own which lost them two games. Game 7 they went back to playing team ball but it was over by then. Klay was on point and Steph was no longer being bothered by 7 footers switching off on to him. Once those two allowed Frontrunner Draymond to be activated it was over.

They need to get the ball to Durant after a much better initial set, so he's going against a Defense that is in motion. YNB/Ibaka PnR into a durant series is desperately needed. Something other than their very slow, very methodical PnR action into... iso for the ball handler.

By blackace Go To Postthe 3rd best record in the east without KD…And it is one of the greatest "false indicators' of history.
They were far from the 3rd best team, as exemplified by their first round exit.
And they were pretty handily beaten too, and in exactly the fashion that everyone knew they would. Because their success in the regular season was a false indication of where that team is at. But they'd need to bring in Ray Allen and KG with that trade.
