I am surprised that Blaitt isn't getting more interest from the Kings. He's a Princeton guy and Vlade/Kings brought that to the NBA. Vlade consulted Rick Adleman, who ran the Princeton with him. Blaitt is also an international guy. He seems like somebody Vlade would have interest in, but we got these interview names that feel like they've given up on hiring the coach they want already.
The Kings also have to figure out what they're doing with Rondo. Cousins in the Princeton would be nasty, but Rondo would not work. That's the sort of thing you have to figure out now.

Kevin McHale would be a horrible horrible choice.
Brooks had some of the greatest players in the NBA on the same roster and played glorified fuck ball

He got the Thunder to the Finals before they traded Harden. Brooks has faults, but his teams play for him. He was almost the Kings coach, but they decided to let him go as an assistant. I think they hired Musselman or Westphal instead.
I'd rather have Ewing than McHale. I don't understand the interest in McHale. I felt that he looked bad in two different spots.

hard not to get to the finals with KD Russ Harden off the bench and Ibaka...

Blatt thinks very highly of himself and is probably too proud to coach the Kings.
Kidd and CP3 operated in the Princeton under Byron pretty damn successfully.
Rondo will do fine. None of it matters though. It's the Kings. Whoever they hire is gonna be fired in 12-18 months tops anyway.
Different coaches are great for different things. A handful can do everything for you. Brooks isn't part of that handful of anything but a developing team that's years away from contention should be happy to get him. OKC's problem wasn't that they got him, it's that they didn't mame a coaching change until it was too late.

I disagree that Brooks is even good at that... playing western fuckball isn't good for player development... Russ is good now but if he was groomed better he might be the 2nd / 3rd best player in the NBA instead of like 7th / 8th
lol
brooks saw several guys under him break down their pre-draft ceilings and rebuild them a few stories up
cry about x's and o's once you get bounced in the conference finals a few times, take a good look a the celtics right now to see what happens when elite x's and o's with shit talent gets you in the playoffs--guys have to develop

They had a 2nd, 4th and 3rd pick all in a row and picked really well... maybe he had something to do with that
Judging a coach's ability to groom talent is really hard. Unless they're actively shitting on and reducing someone's role, it's hard to say how much a head coach has contributed to a players development or lack thereof. Brooks getting credit for Russ KD and Harden seems a bit like optimism. Sure they all liked him and were upset when he got fired but what so what.
Saying Carlisle gets a lot out of vets and past their prime is a more solidified notion, cause he has done it consistently. Brooks is gonna have bring along a few more guys before I consider it an undeniable talent of his. Until then he's just a shit Xs and Os coach who doesn't get on his players bad side.

By HasphatsAnts Go To PostTerry Stotts was a retread. Just sayin'Stotts spent years as an assistant after a couple failed head coaching gigs with Carlisle and developed into a brilliant offensive tactician in that time and ran their offense to a championship. I don't disagree with you wholeheartedly but Stotts was barely a HC his first two times around but he was given time to grow and improve as a coach. These other candidates are who they are until proven otherwise.

Wolves are gonna make the playoffs. Kidn of scary to think of the type of defense Thibs will be able to get out of Rubio-Wiggins-KAT

Thibs wasn't responsible for Rose's injuries. I think Thibs' minutes thing is completely overblown.
Butler played 37MPG this season, is that on Thibs? Last season only two players played above 35mpg (Butler, Pau). In 2013-14? Only three above 35mpg (Butler, Deng, Noah). In 2012-13? Only two above 35mpg (Deng, Noah).
The minutes break down for the Bulls under Thibs looks about the same as you saw from teams like the Heat during the Lebron-era.

Deng being in Miami and talking about Chicago really made me think that their medical staff was complete garbage instead of thibs.
Back in 2013 Deng was misdiagnosed, got a botched spinal tap and literally the entire Bulls medical staff left him at the hospital.
Then there's that whole thing about Noah suing that shoe company that may have caused his Plantar Fasciitis problems.

ESPN sources say Washington is actively intensifying its Scotty Brooks pursuit in hopes of sealing a Brooks deal before Houston's job opens.
faze to get a coach who knows how to use a coaching board
Holy Shit Scott Layden is getting another GM job...... HOLY SHIT. You could make a strong argument he was worse in NY than Isiah.

It was later revealed that he had a broken leg. This was also before Thibs, iirc .

The Wolves got the best coach on the market!
It's a home run hire since I'm not as concerned about injuries since the training staff is top notch. I'm curious what offense he'll run. It should be easy enough to just have Rubio orchestrate pick and rolls with Towns all game.

Also, Rubio, Towns, Wiggins and another top pick. He can win right away.

If I got to choose between coaching Rubio/Wiggins/KAT and running whatever offensive/defensive scheme I thought was best suited for that teltn over 31-year old Melo and a young Prozingis and had to run the triangle, I know which one I would pick.

I really do hope they get him some actual competition at his position for once. Towns being a generational talent is the only thing masking how inept Rubio is posting anyone strong side.

Eh. People are willingly glossing over some of thibs biggest floors.
HIs minutes and rotations were fucking terrible. He played Noah until he killed him. Played Deng till he killed him. Soon as buttler was good, Killed him. Guy had no inbetween. It was either 40mpg or 10. And he played you, grinded you, until you were dead.
There were other issues obviously, the bulls FO and thibs disagreed on it, the bulls training staff were trash, the bulls FO and strainers regularly lied about players injuries, even to the players face.
But it's a leg it concern. Particularly for a guy like Rubio who hasn't been able to stay healthy.
That said, Wolves could make the second round if they stay healthy. They have a lot of young athletes, LaVine should also do really well under thibs. I just hope they have a Offense guy that can get something real going for them on that end too.
