By Dark PhaZe Go To Postchances of him surviving until the nets are capable of actually rebuilding?Sean Marks is the captain now. He'll have all the time he needs.
not good
By knux-future Go To PostI had hope once…it was niceI'm really sorry about your team's situation Knux. That just sucks in every possible way.
By Forever Go To PostSean Marks is the captain now. He'll have all the time he needs.we will see... does Marks have the time he needs will be the question
By blackace Go To Postwe will see… does Marks have the time he needs will be the questionIt's one of the weirdest things in the world in that it could really come down to how fucked russia gets.
By Forever Go To PostI like it. I wanted anything but a rehash and Atkinson was one of the most highly sought after options. He has a good rep and can develop players.I actually like Atkinson and had him high on my list before we went with Gentry(who I had no interest in at the time) but Thibs just showed by sitting out this season and the Bulls crumbling that he is in fact one of the elite coaches in this league.
A lot fucking better than Calipari or Thibs.
I'm 100% satisfied with the Atkinson and Marks hires. About as good as we could have expected.
If he goes to Minnesota I will go on record now and say they will be a playoff team next season. Will likely be the most improved team in the league. Thibs with an ownership standing behind him, a year rebuilding his philosophy and a strong young core is a scary team to face going forward IMO.
By reilo Go To PostI'd be more worried about Thibs offensive schemes: lack of three-point shooting, super large and methodical lineups, slow down pace, ISO heavy… almost completely wrong for that young group. He needs to let Ricky be a floor leader on offense and instill good defensive schemes on the other.I am actually excited to see how Thibs runs an offense next season.
He has been on a road tour throughout the NBA: Houston, SA, GS, Dallas, Boston etc. claiming to be trying to rebuild his understanding and philosophy on the offensive side of the ball....Or he is just engaging in one of the most genius covert operations in sports history by accumulating all the top teams secrets and tactics to eventually use against them. Either way the results should be interesting.

But he'll also kill your players in the process. And in our situation, he'd probably push constantly for win now moves.

By Kibner Go To PostHis minutes stuff is overblown.I don't think it is.
By Kibner Go To PostHis minutes stuff is overblown.I agree. He certainly could of been better in player management but I think it is overstated based on what I have read. Though I can't help but think that in retrospect he is happy he didn't get the Pelicans job.
The guy would of been crucified and forever stigmatized if he was in charge during our historically injury filled season.
By Forever Go To PostDon't get me wrong, Thibs is a good coach and will get wins. But he'll also kill your players in the process. And in our situation, he'd probably push constantly for win now moves.I think the Wolves is pretty much the perfect situation for him.
He will no doubt push for a more win-now approach, but with a core of Lavine, KAT and Wiggins along with another early lottery pick(Dunn?), they can afford to go that route now IMO.
They are where Hinkie was hoping to be at the end of stage 1, where I wish the Pelicans were at before they started chasing wins with asset depleting moves.
So I see your point in that regard.

By knux-future Go To PostIsn't Wiggins already playing crazy minutes?35 minutes a night this year.
And LaVine doesn't matter unless he's playing with Rubio. Ricky is as important as Towns is.
By blackace Go To PostWord is JVG might be the guy in Minny thoHe's not a bad consolation prize but I do question how well he will do with so much time off and not putting nearly the effort you see guys like Kerr and Thibs doing in the interim to stay fresh and on the forefront.
By rodeoclown Go To Post35 minutes a night this year.Aren't the Wolves kinda shopping Rubio and subtly hinting he is the least important in this new core?

Could be wrong but it seems like they aren't exactly married to Rubio. Not to say he might not be a big reason for Lavine's emergence but just saying.
By Jonm Go To PostAren't the Wolves kinda shopping Rubio and subtly hinting he is the least important in this new core?Nah, the report about shopping rubio was totally bogus.

TV? And what is Thibs doing to be fresh and on the forefront?
I think Thibs is a bit overrated because his O sets are really bad.
By blackace Go To PostDidn't Kerr do the same thing JVG is doing? TV? And what is Thibs doing to be fresh and on the forefront?Thibs has basically been interning with various teams for a couple weeks at a time throughout the season.

The Wolves never shopped Ricky. Milwaukee called, but they never got close. His agent is Dan Fegan and dude has never wanted him in Minnesota. All the reports from all the last few years about Rubio trades have all driven by Fegan.
By Kibner Go To PostThibs has basically been interning with various teams for a couple weeks at a time throughout the season.really haven't seen it... which teams?
By blackace Go To Postreally haven't seen it… which teams?Kings, Warriors, Celtics, Rockets, Pistons. At least ten teams, according to George Karl when he visited in March.

Crazy talk
By Moris Go To PostCrazy talk
I didn't watch them this year, but last year they were philly tier without him on the court.
Conley is great. He's getting the max wherever he goes
By Moris Go To PostCrazy talkI really don't think so. When Rubio isn't in the game, the team struggles. There's this like inability to generate any real offense without Ricky orchestrating. Guys like Wiggins and especially Zach have to work way harder for worse looks. You saw it last year when Rubio was out.

Going from a good point to Lavine will do that, yea. He's as important in the sense the Offense + Defense are good when he's out there but he can be replaced with an actual PG and hell if they were a good 3 point shooter it might improve the squad.
Also their coach is terrible, A guard like Rubio can keep a bad coach employed with his playmaking.
By masud Go To PostSo Knicks Slaent should we be trying to go after Conley? How much would you pay him?
No way does the Knicks get Conley. I actually think that they go after a SG. Maybe steal Derozan
Damn near everyone has cash to spend, basement teams shouldn't be surprised if they don't get shit again.
By Moris Go To PostDamn near everyone has cash to spend, basement teams shouldn't be surprised if they don't get shit again.Poor Lakers
Well i did say should we try. I know it's a long shot but we have better chances with Conley than Derozan who I doubt is leaving for anyone much less the Knicks.

Honestly I think the Knicks should throw money at a RFA but right now Derozan is getting shitted on by enough people in Toronto he might consider leaving.
nah derozan isn't leaving unless someone is giving him the max. I hear lakers have a lot of cap space

By Moris Go To PostBasically. Tank Part 3 is underway
If we keep our pick I really don't want to tank or root for a tank next year. We'll have to be bottom three again to have a decent chance at retaining it. At some point I would like to start seeing a system in place and rookie development to root for.
If we don't keep our pick .... tank tank away I guess. Though it will still kill me. I fucking hate this shit.

By Colonel Nasty Go To PostSuns kept WatsonYikes
Earl Watson has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal to become the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns.Good for him, hope it works out.
Watson showed a knack for being able to connect with his players, as both Devin Booker and Markieff Morris flourished with Watson at the helm. It'll be interesting to see what Watson does with his rotations next season with Brandon Knight, Eric Bledsoe and Booker all healthy.
Even if the Suns had gotten a different coach, wasn't the next guy getting hired to be fired anyway? The front office has a lot of work to do getting a decent roster together.
