By blackace Go To PostMac was super ISO in Portland but had a better looking O in Seattle with Brent and Ray running point
Still an odd move
Not if the rumors are true that the firing of Vogel was to avoid paying him what he was worth (5-7 mil a year) about as much as anything else. That would be the most sensible reason to let him go and would fit into the whole "he wasn't fired we just didn't keep him", stuff bird said. Of course Bird can't go out there and say Vogel is too good for us to afford. So he lies though he did make a point too hype up McMillan during the press conference which makes me think this was even more the case.
The "quicker pace" line was as much the roster as anything. I expect Bird to make some personnel moves to correct it.
By The Frankman Go To PostDon't play innocent. I saw you throwing shade earlier.
Two words… MIX TAPE
On the low as much as much as people speculate on Phil Jackson 1 things is clear he's frugal on player contracts. I assume they think Wroten is going to be healthy and can be the starting PG. The scouting and FA rumors seems to be focused on SG who have outside shots.
NY Knicks president Phil Jackson was seen at Gabriele’s Italian Steakhouse in Greenwich recently where he was having a private meeting with ex-Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt, who is rumored to be a candidate for the Knicks head coaching position.
Oh hey he's doing his job finally.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthis rubio/lavine/shabazz/wiggins/towns lineup wreksNot all that much. Until he shortened the rotation in late Jan/early Feb, Mitchell was really quick to yank Shabazz for his defense.
see it often during the reg season rodeo?
For Smitch, playing all those guys together was basically his nightmare, since the wing defense would basically be nonexistent. (This is the dude that played Prince all year even though he couldn't go anymore.) It'll be interesting to see how Thibs uses Bazz, who will still deserve minutes because of his scoring prowess.
I mean the league basically blessed them last year and they did all right. It wasn't as embarassing as when the Cavs got blessed. D'angelo has a future in the league.
I could see the league helping them again especially because it won't have to be as blatant as the Cavs fix.
Also yes I am being serious, the draft is fucking fixed!!!!

If it is truly rigged then the Sixers cannot win it. It sets a bad precedent that tanking works.

So Phil already met with Vogel last week as well as Blatt.
Yeah I think we're going to get a decision in a few days.
Also if phil wanted to have a "stfu you know nothing" card on NY media he will now if he picks anyone else but Rambis

Phil Jackson reportedly met with Frank Vogel last week to discuss the head coaching vacancy in New York.
Kurt Rambis, Davis Blatt and Vogel are reportedly the top-3 candidates for the head coaching position in New York, with Rambis still believed to be the frontrunner. It seems unlikely that Jackson will go with a coach that won't exclusively run the triangle offense.
Also Isola says the Blatt dinner meeting was from 2 weeks ago meaning Phil has been doing his job the last two weeks....

a Orlando sentinel reporter is saying the Vogel deal is done at 4/24 Million and both parties are just waiting for Monday to announce it. I have no idea how legit that rumor is.

Pretty low on the totem pole but a professional report non the less. He could be there version of Tommy Dee as far as I know.
Looking forward to Instagram posts of Winslow hitting jumpers and reports of Richardson gaining 20 pounds of muscle

By unknown Go To Posthopefully, as long as its not cancer rambis
basically, and even with Rambis I am 50/50 at this point because the plan could always be to tank.
Get some RFAs in 2016 who want money more than anything else, tank next year in a good draft, re access the situation in 2017 FA with another 20+ mil.
By blackace Go To PostBlatt doesn't seem like someone Phil would hire tho…
Who even knows? The best source for any of this is either a week - 2 weeks late on breaking news and a reporter from Orlando with less than a 1500 twitter followers. I'm pretty sure its not Rambis just because he would of done it by now.
By blackace Go To PostAgain from Phil's limited history in the FO Blatt doesn't seem like someone Phil would hireyou always wish the worse on knicks lol.

Idk I don't think he is as tied to the triangle as people claim or maybe he thinks Blatt can learn it quickly. I still prefer Vogel just because I've seen him overachieve with mostly trash rosters for a while now.

He also seems pretty malleable (LeBron stomped him all day long) so Blatt to me would be a Phil kinda guy.

It's great Phil met with Frank Vogel but talking to 3 outside candidates in one month doesn't make you hardest working man in show business.
seems like they finally remembered that they haven't given this one out yet.

By blackace Go To Postwhat makes you say that? He fired Mike instantly and went directly to the triangle…
Woodson isn't even a good coach. ISO Joe and ISO Melo (I love how they both rhyme with ISO) wasn't going to last with Phil.
Not to mention Woodson was part of the CAA cronyism that Phil immediately went about exterminating as soon as he got to NY. CAA having to much say with the Knicks is the same reason they don't got a pick now (bargnani was their client) and the same reason I told ya'll Thibs wasn't going to get the NY job (another CAA client) as soon as I learned it. I also think Melo and CAA are the main leak to Isola and Berman but that's another issue.
The triangle is important, but Phil definitely isn't hiring anyone signed to CAA to a key staff or coaching role.
By Dipro Go To Postseems like they finally remembered that they haven't given this one out yet.Shouldn't this like escalate as far as importance goes? I feel like coach of the year and MVP should be the last two.

Does the league handle it alone or in cooperation with the teams involved? because it could just be the timber wolves aren't use to winning anything and had no protocols in place.
Vogel for NY seems like a no brainer, but if he chooses somewhere else Rambis kinda becomes the next obvious choice from a Phil perspective. Real feast or famine situation potentially.
I don't see Blatt in NY either, his whole schtick in Cleveland was that he was there as a Scott Brooks type, there to build the culture and mentor the youngins.
Anyone but Rambis and NY will be ok most likely, so y'all got odds in your favor at least.

The amount of backtracking and "BUT WAIT KNICKS ARE STILL SHIT" on Isola's Twitter is amazing. Yes, we get it Frank. Phil is still accountable for alot of L's so far. Can you not shit on the one positive glimmer where he actually MIGHT NOT HIRE KURT FUCKING RAMBIS for one second?
By Moris Go To PostVogel for NY seems like a no brainer, but if he chooses somewhere else Rambis kinda becomes the next obvious choice from a Phil perspective. It's not like he even has an offensive system he's married to anyway, he can leave that to the assistants.
