By blackace Go To Postthe FO must gave him no hopeThey gave up Harkless and Tobias Harris for nothing because Skiles didn't like/want them and they flourished under better coaches. Mario Henzonja is also a prized Top 5 pick and Skiles flat out didn't play him eventhough the Magic were garbage and had nothing to play for.

There seem to be a lot of good consolation SGs you can draft if you don't get in the top 2. Sucks that we are probably going to end up with Bender since SG is the one position we don't need.

given harkless literally never played under skiles (was traded in the summer a month after skiles was hired) that first part is a complete fabrication to fit your dumb narrative. you also ignore context--harkless would never get any time when evan fournier, tobias harris and aaron gordon were on the roster.

5'10 in shoes and 150 pounds
how do you not just eat a shitload of steak and lift the second kentucky lost to get that weight up to 170-180
still I think there's incredible guard value in the second round this year
lol @ jaylen browns grown man stats like 225 pounds 6'7 and 5% body fat jesus

I love the ridiculous body fat percentages in athletic combines. You can almost always add like 5% to get something closer to the actual value.
A lot of people are talking about Conley but I see other options that could be coached up really well that won't cost a max:
Ulis as Patty Mills 2.0 with higher upside
Payton Jr
Melo Trimble
all second rounders

By KingGondo Go To PostYeah, the Lakers' destiny for the next few years depends on those ping pong balls.
If we give up our pick this year to Philly, I believe we keep next years regardless and give up 2018 to the Magic. If we keep this years, next year is still top 3 protected for Philly and 2018 is still up in the air. I'm hoping we don't tank next year so I figure our best shot at a top 3 is probably better this year, but I've been operating under the assumption we lose this years pick for a while.
I'm hoping we don't just swing for the stars in FA and try and pick up guys that can help build a team.

Most likely, but perfect health resulting in a WCF loss can hardly be called a huge achievement for a team with OKC's history. There's still a lot of work to be done for OKC to lock him up.

There's still a lot of work to be done for OKC to lock him up.I mean, he could always go East but he ain't going to DC. And the only West destination still available is GS and I don't think he wants to abandon what he's built in OKC to chase a ring.
No there's not.
There's nowhere to go but down if he leaves. A loss to the Warriors in the WCF doesn't mean "bail out" unless he wants to be like LeBron and have a .250 win percentage in the Finals.

The closer durant gets to the finals the less likely he's leaving. The only thing i think would get him to leave is being completely decimated by GSW.
He'll likely sign at least for a year in OKC as things stand. Congrats, Gondo

It's not always about immediately being a better team than you were. Those guys have been there forever--Westbrook has his own say as well in regards to what he wants to do. Maybe the Wolves get Ben Simmons and come to Russ' door with a bag full of max money. Maybe Russ doesn't mine a change of scenery. And likewise it could be the same for KD.
I think the chances have definitely improved for him to stay but there are a lot more moving parts still in play.

I think he takes a chance with russ for one more year. Plus, he gets a much fatter longterm contract if he just signs for one year and then does a max the year after because he qualifies for the vet max
do the one year with russ and see how it goes from there.

At the very least I think beating the Spurs and getting to the WCF makes it almost certain that he'll be here next year for one more ride with Russ.
If we can beat the Dubs or better yet chip obviously that changes the calculation as well.
Part of the appeal of OKC is going to be playing with young exciting guys like Adams, Roberson, Kanter, and Payne as they develop as well. He doesn't have to go to Minny to play with young talent.
And I think KD and Russ are intertwined. Really hard to imagine one leaving and one staying.

Agreed I'm just saying a lot can go down in that one year. LeBron actually CHIPPED TWICE in Miami and then ran away from his best friend.
This list is terrifying.

Only guy I'd feel comfortable paying is Drummond.

Pau Gasol is the crown jewel of this free agency class. You can pay 20 million for one year, 2 years to meet your cap requirements, get a good player but also have that money ready to go against to reload for a better free agency class
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostAgreed I'm just saying a lot can go down in that one year. KD has never once shown that he gives a shit what anyone thinks of him.
I think if he stays, Russ stays as well.
GS still going to come knocking with their "Get a max and play 30 minutes a game and win rings" bit too
I mean, it's a good sales pitch: Psssss, hey KD, imagine taking like 30 fourth quarters off in a year. think about it

Some desperate team gonna give him $12 million/year this summer.
By KingGondo Go To PostAt the very least I think beating the Spurs and getting to the WCF makes it almost certain that he'll be here next year for one more ride with Russ.Yeah it would take some sort of crazy scenario in my mind to think KD walks away after getting to WCF.

to be fair dion is at 60% TS in the post season right now
meanwhile in toronto
zero chance OKC doesn't pay him though

By KingGondo Go To PostI'm thrilled that KD will probably stay, but my joy from that is only slightly more than realizing Dion is playing himself out of OKC.Man I can't imagine that. Even with the new cap I can't see any team overpaying that much for Waiters.

There are too many fringe 6-3 to 6-5 SG's that can give you what he does and without the idiocy and at a fraction of the cost IMO.
By Jonm Go To PostMan I can't imagine that. Even with the new cap I can't see any team overpaying that much for Waiters.SG is such a thin position. He'll still carry the stink of success from being a top-5 pick and contributing to a playoff run.

Only takes one team, and I defy you to look at that list of free agents and tell me that Dion won't get paid.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postdo you think OKC won't pay him gondo?I think they have a firm, fairly low number in mind. If a team offers him more than that they'll let him walk. We still need to extend Adams and Roberson and fit their salaries along with those of KD, Russ, and Ibaka.
Could be wrong, but I don't think they'll break the bank for him.
But if we don't, we'll have to trade for a SG or bring Abrines over.
if lakers get the 3rd pick,
i'd want Hields.

trade clarkson for a big (ahem, ok4 pls knux) and we'd be good.

I'm not really against DeRozan, I'm against giving him a max contract if he's not a long term solution to getting us back into championship form. Especially since the dude doesn't shoot from the outside well and we just got a coach who wants to run things sorta like they ran up in GS.
Like do you think he's part of a max big two or big three that can get you there?

It reeks of a jimmy desperation move due to his self imposed timeline.
