I was really hoping that Favors could be an all-star this year if everything goes right and we have a good record.
Towns is going to kill that dream :(

By P.SY! Go To PostDidn't you say the Pacers took a leap when all those moves went down?naw I said they tried their best, or that they really wanted to improve or something. maybe they did more in on offseason than some teams do in years
but at the same time i said that they don't have enough basketballs for those players to be effective all at once
By DY_nasty Go To Postnaw I said they tried their best, or that they really wanted to improve or something. maybe they did more in on offseason than some teams do in yearsI kinda like their roster.. it is the type of team that could sneak up on teams. I also think they will play hard for Nate. Now if he can run an offense from the year 2010 at least they might be ok.

Bismack/Ibaka/Gordon/Vucevic is an A+ rotation. The guard/wing group has to be complete shit for that team to miss the playoffs imo. And they Augustin who is on his way out of the league which means he'll blow up again and play amazing like he always does every 3 years to save himself.

a lot of these old head coaches can't adapt unless they're keeping old systems in place. they just added a ton of iso players and charged nate with opening up an offense built in fuckball. that team is gonna play hard as fuck for about 2 months, be .500, then hit a wall
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthink the magic are getting slept onOrlando's fate rests on Fournier and Hezonja keeping the floor spaced and weirdhair guy not being complete shit at PG again.

I want to like them, but I know better than to have faith in young wings carrying the offensive load from the perimeter.
By blackace Go To PostI kinda like their roster.. it is the type of team that could sneak up on teams. I also think they will play hard for Nate. Now if he can run an offense from the year 2010 at least they might be ok.Matt Moore of CBSSports and Hardwood Paroxysm had some good things to say about Nate in regards to running a good offense in Indy. I think it is just in tweets, though, so I'm not going to bother trying to find all of them.
The gist is that he expects the offense to still be slower than average and still be heavy iso, since that is pretty much all McMillan offenses. However, he noted that the iso-centric offenses that Nate are more for creation purposes than solo scoring chances i.e. he has people moving and getting open while the iso goes on in order to generate open shots.
He thinks Paul George and Monta Ellis can execute this well and is glad that Teague can play off-ball competently with his shooting skills. He is worried about all the other shooters and if the three afore-mentioned players can generate enough good looks for other players with minimal turnovers.
e: Moore, iirc, thinks it is possible for the Pacers to have an above-average offensive efficiency but that there are a lot of questions that need to be answered.
DJ Augustin and Jeff Green signature "I refuse to go to China" moments are going to happen at least ten times combined over the entirety of the regular season though

Well Nate has been there almost the whole time so I am sure he won't scrap everything....

The thing about Nate is he is a Thibs type of coach... Play hard D and do what you can on O. Unlike his last years in Portland he has the horses to play good D so and some stars to score as well. I think it is as good as fit as you would find right now for his style
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthink the magic are getting slept onI think that front court doesn't have enough mins for all of them and only one of the four can catch the ball in the post...

I also still don't know if Milwaukee gets it shit together. I just don't see Giannis being a fulltime PG

i know kidd thinks he's a genius and all that but they're missing basic stuff. 7ft wingspans will only get you so far
If he isn't they have a problem.
He is only effective on offense because they force someone to guard him by giving him the ball. Off-ball Giannis is .. not so great.

Dellavadova and ancient Jason Terry should hopefully bury MCW on the bench.
e: They might need Giannis to literally become Magic Johnson and play both center and PG for them.

A quote from the end:
It is for the reasons outlined above that I will never call Phil Jackson “Zen Master”—not because I’m bitter about his success (I’m not especially impressed by all those rings; wake me up when he wins something without the aid of Michael Jordan or Derek Fisher), but because in cultivating this “Zen” persona he is, in a roundabout way, providing ideological sanction for the solutionist, neoliberal, and technofascist tendencies of Silicon Valley’s most dangerous villains.
This is worse than Alan Houston, potentially.
By DY_nasty Go To PostThat's what I mean, your entire roster composition can't be based on wishful thinking.I can't see them being worse than last year tho..

By blackace Go To PostThat's true but there weren't a lot of PGs to get this year… sometimes not making a move is the best moveGeorge Hill, Teague, even Lawson would've helped. Unless you got a guy like Harden or Hayward... [there's really very few off-guards like that who exists in the league imo] you can't just go without a PG and expect reasonable success. I can't even include guys like Batum. That team is too young to be trying next level shit.
Tyreke is available! :v
He's not a PG (I know that very well) and is also injured. There are some doubts whether he will actually play a minute in a Pelican uniform this season. But he is very much available and rumors are he can be had for nothing!

I hated at the time and I hate even more now that the team traded RoLo to get the cap space to acquire Evans. Fuck, I hate watching that man play. If you trade his handles and shot with Klay's, Evans would be everything DY thinks Klay is.
After the Lance Stephenson experiment, I'm done with combo guards forever.
As for guys who don't finish the season with their new teams.... Ibaka, Rubio, Reke, Monroe, Boogie, Bledsoe, just to name a few. I should get a list. :?

I'll go ahead and give you a Pels-specific outlook of who they want to rid themselves of:
- Tyreke Evans
- Omer Asik (I love this dude, though)
- Norris Cole

The Bucks should in theory break the league. All that athleticism and length. They are the team you create in 2k and shit on everyone....but Giannis' jumper is broke. Jabari is being held back a bit (and has no position), MCW is what we thought he was....shit sucks.

front like you aint excited that the sixers have finally completed their spirit bomb
nope not getting hype just yet. I need for this bigman trade to happen AND most importantly Embiid needs to be a real thing.
until then, I will stay salty.
I am however, glad we are done fielding a dumpster fire of whodafuks. I mean sure we still have a bunch of scrubs..but I know these scrubs for once. I am ready to be a run of the mill bad team rather than one on purpose.

Back to Harden talk dude needs to be second in command but they don't have someone there to really do that. Dwight could have but he's too in his immature feels and the center so...
By DY_nasty Go To PostMelo is a much, much worse ballstopper than Harden. Like… you can't even be creative with Melo as a primary ballhandler or focal point. Harden's already shown that he do things with the ball - his tunnel vision issues are a symptom of a lot of other stuff. He wasn't ALWAYS a ballstopper or ballhog.
I can't wait til prediction season too btw
I'm actually thinking that my hornets roll backwards a bit.
Harden has been a different guy in Houston than he was in OKC. And after going through so many coaches we can't entirely blame the coaches. He seems to be borderline un-coachable atm.

Plenty of players have been great despite their obvious mental shortcomings or habitual lapses in judgement. Bynum was really good when his knees allowed him to be on the court.
