That's cool that the NBA might nove the ASG out of Charlotte due to the bigot laws but like.........what about China?
By P-SY Go To PostThat's cool that the NBA might nove the ASG out of Charlotte due to the bigot laws but like………what about China?China is good business. North Carolina bigot laws are bad business.
Make no mistake it's a business decision.
By giririsss Go To PostFeel bad for Hornets fans. That's some bull shit. The NBA has plenty of gay employees who would be legal targets of discrimination under this law. Moving it is the right thing to do for the NBA as a business and for the well being of its employees.
Ever since Indiana states have been well aware of the economic consequences of these laws; North Carolina decided to pass one anyway. That's entirely on them.
really wanted to go to that allstar game...
thanks nba.
way to fuck a city and fanbase that not only had nothing to do with the bill but actually acted in opposition of this whole mess, which is why it became a mess in the first place.

It sucks for Charlotte, but lets be real, he NBA needed to do this and should be given props for making the tough decision.
It didn't need to do this. This is publicity for business. It also got Charlotte to renovate its arena with the promise of the all-star game, and then pulled out over something Charlotte had no control over. Never trust a giant corporate good guy.
i aint giving them props for shit. and since it's such good PR for the league i dont think it was a tough decision either.
they only catching flack from people like me who just care about the allstar game.

Yes, because your allstar game is more important than others possibly being discriminated against. Get over yourself and look at the bigger picture. It is a tough decision as well. The NFL sure as fuck wouldn't have done anything.
If you're an equal opportunity employer and you can avoid a place that basically complicates things why wouldn't you.

I didn't disagree with moving it. "This is some bullshit" is more aimed at the law that was passed.

Let's not forget: Republicans buy sneakers too.
He really wanted the All-Star game too. Maybe if he had fought the Republicans in his state he'd still have it.
MICHAEL MARTIN: I mean, you know, Michael Jordan was asked to endorse, you know, Harvey Gantt get in the very competitive, you know, Senate race, where there was – he was running against somebody who had very retrograde racial attitudes. And he’s famously quoted as having said, you know, Republicans buy sneakers, too.Jordan has spent his lifetime prioritizing wealth over civil rights, it's a little poetic that things would come full circle like this.
ABDUL-JABBAR: You can’t be afraid of losing shoe sales if you’re worried about your civil and human rights. You can’t be worried about that. It’s just the way it is. He took commerce over conscious. That’s unfortunate for him, but he’s got to live with it.

A. It's a business decision. I'm aware. I don't really care about the motive if the end result is desired.
B. There ain't nothing America or its corporations can do to change China's policies. There is something they can do to change a states policy.

And being a role model for China and bringing that positive influence there through sport is the best the NBA can hope to do. At the moment.

Right, and even if the motives aren't purely altruistic and I find the decision to play in China a poor one, that doesn't mean I should let another poor decision slide

The Vertical reported Thursday that New Orleans had emerged as a front-runner to host the game. Several other NBA cities have become options, including Chicago and New York/Brooklyn, sources told ESPN. Louisiana, Illinois and New York all have specific state protections that don't allow for discriminating against lesbian, gay, and transgender people, with specific legislation passed in the past year.

Derrick Rose talks upcoming season, says Knicks & Warriors viewed as NBA's "super teams"
Well, I guess there was a reason he had to cheat on a standardized test to qualify for college.
Q: Knicks fans always have high expectations, sometimes maybe not even grounded in reality over the years. Before last season, Melo came out on media day and talked about managing expectations with such a young team. But with this roster now and all these veterans, what should the expectations be for the Knicks?
ROSE: They're high. I mean, with these teams right now, they're saying us and Golden State are the super teams, and they're trying not to build that many super teams, and Adam Silver came out with the statement and this and that. {…}
yo guys, I was--
*reads article*
... who's saying this? What fucking fan is saying this? Yeah, I know Rose isn't himself saying the Knicks are a superteam but dude really needs to word that better.
EDIT: Tweet wording is clickbait too.

By linsivvi Go To PostSummer is the worst. I have no interest in watching the Olympics either.
Doyers mang.
Also this summer Olympics will be a total shit show. Curious how the media portrays the poverty surrounding the event, the gap between money spent on infrastructure for the Olympics compared to the money spent on the actual citizens and how social media differs from the medias portrayal. It's gonna be interesting.
does Rose talk to anyone outside of his family? im not sure who else would be saying they're a superteam
