By Kibner Go To PostI don't think there has been a coach in the league's history that could control Peace or TrillStack.Jax was good under Pop
By blackace Go To PostJax was good under PopNot so much. Pop kicked him off the team for getting too big an ego to exist with Kawhi.
Played for Pop twice and chipped with him.
If having a big ego is the only problem you have when Jax is on the team...you are sitting pretty

Apparently, there were issues between him and Pop both times he was on the roster that ended with his release from the team.
By Kibner Go To Post*shrug*He rejected the Spurs offer and became a free agent... He wasn't released. I remember people were clowning because it seemed like he over estimated his market value.

I think you both kinda have a point.
Pop always says he gets frustrated/baffled by teams that put together rosters with a number of selfish, trouble makers as key cogs and laughs when GMs/Owners are shocked it didn't work out perfectly. To him its common sense.
You have to scout and consider character just like talent and then when the right culture is established you can take a flyer on a questionable guy or two in supporting roles because most of the time people like that will have a hard time remaining selfish jerks when they are around a bunch of good guys and good leaders.
I think in Carlisle's situation with Peace and Trill he was forced into a situation that Pop wouldn't tolerate in the first place. Where one of your main cogs/leaders are boneheads. And I agree, I would put more blame on the GM/Owners for mis-diagnosing the problem and pursuing an incorrect solution then siding with Bird who was upset Carlisle couldn't control a locker-room that shouldn't of been stuck with in the first place.

It's the Bird comments that are telling...what coach is going to want to go to the Pacers when the PoBO basically said you are only there for 3 to 5 years...
I mean most the time it is true but the idea is to make a stable dynasty....
Mark Jackson, Mike D are some names popping up...
Wouldn't be shocked if they ended up with Randy Wittman tho...

So whats with the hawks? They been swept twice by the cavs now...... I am assuming they are going to try to trade Teague because they finished game 4 with Schroder. Do they let Bazemore walk, maybe Horford? Do they trade Teague for cap space to try and keep both?
By P S Y C H Go To PostMax Horford is gonna be a sight to behold.
Somebody is going to max him. He's the second best FA after Durant.
Part of me wants to see what a team like the blazers could do with Horford

You likely aren't adding anyone better then Horford in FA or if you get rid of Teague. But keeping some of these guys around on bloated contracts when you have seen the ceiling of this core just means at best you are going to be playoff fodder for the better teams every year.
They are almost in the same position they were in with JJ...
They have the 21st pick and Tim Jr so they should be able to replace Kent's production

I thought he played well near the end of the season and with steady mins should be a decent little cog
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostNah he is pretty much trash and doesn't have the lateral speed for defense like Bazemore.his end of the stats were pretty good... not amazing but either is Kent...
By P S Y C H Go To PostMax Horford is gonna be a sight to behold.Would rather Max Horford than Max whiteside.
....
By like an unfathomable amount.
By blackace Go To Posthis end of the stats were pretty good… not amazing but either is Kent…Tim Jr is fine as a role player if he can be kept in check about his role.
Hawks have been in a tricky spot last year too. They're maxing player value in a weak conference but i think the weak conference is giving the wrong perception of how close that team is. They're not THAT close.
If they can keep the player buy in, and system, while picking up FA's or Draft super well....
By giririsss Go To PostTim Jr is fine as a role player if he can be kept in check about his role.that's why maxing the wrong player could be almost the kiss of death for them

But Yeah. They're in a weird spot salary wise. Everyone either needs to find a new gear as a team, or they need to start looking to upgrade individual pieces with out ruining the environment. Easier said than done.
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLineJoerger about to get exactly what he wanted.
ESPN sources say the Kings and Dave Joerger are discussing a four-year, $16 million deal that will hinge on how the next round of talks go.
Why anyone wants that job is beyond me. Literally will be fired in a year or two

By jjasper Go To PostI am sure Barnes will handle this tweet in an calm non-confrontational manner.Probably has to in public for custody / visitation stuff.
I mean, they've both been assholes at this point. I think it's funny that all of the shit talking Matt Barnes has done on twitter is basically 1/10th the troll level of that one fisher tweet though.
My question is did Fisher write a post for his Ex who is the mother of his own kids?
If yes then this isn't that horrible, you got to shout out both to avoid a potential issue of it looking like you favor one over the other.
If the answer is No he didn't give his own ex-wife a shout out then Fisher is a gigantic piece of shit

I mean the dude basically decided to derail his own coaching career just to spend more time with Gloria. Both with the visit and throughout the season when he decided it was a good thing to ignore his boss, get into beefs with multiple nba players publicly, antagonize the media, and start ignoring some of his assistants.
Then as soon as he was fired, just ran to Gloria and holed himself up hanging out with her.

to be fair he didn't walk away from NY empty handed
he earned what 3 million of the 25 million he's due now so
watch him become an assistant and be in line for another job by the time 5 years is done

By reilo Go To PostRT @ESPNSteinLine ESPN sources say that the Kings are hopeful today of finalizing a four-year, $16 million deal with Dave Joerger to be their new coachThat is really just about the best outcome Kings fans could have hoped for. It's a 'cheap' price for a new HC these days and Joerger seems less prone to playing mind-games with his players.
I imagine Elston Turner is coming along if Joerger is signed.
My opinion on Joerger has never been solid. Not sure how much of the Grizz is the culture that was already there when he got the team. At the same time, don't recall him being outcoached in games I've seen.

Vogel sounds pretty close to signing with Memphis and Blatt is meeting Houston today. The fuck is Phil doing in NY?
RT @WojVerticalNBA Dave Joerger has agreed to a deal in principle to become the new Sacramento Kings coach, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Meditating to the Basketball Gods that Rambis finally doesn't suck.

Holy shit if he botches this.
Wait, I just searched and it seems like Memphis just reached out to Vogel recently, there's nothing about them being close to signing just yet.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Post4 million a year for joerger? He's probably more interested in the short year of work and 3 years to chill at home.
surely the dude can do better than that
The Blatt and Houston thing seems like a trainwreck pairing
Blatt talking with no one having a measure of respect for him and Harden just sitting there staring off into space
Blatt: " James please play defense. We've talked about this before..."
Harden: " Ok coach." *shaqtin next possession*
Blatt: " James pls"

It's hard to say what coach would succeed in Houston. Scotty Brooks would have been a good bet because he's so agreeable. He isn't unlike McHale from a personality standpoint but appears to be stronger from a player development standpoint.
Surprised he took that Wiz job so quickly, considering how uncertain things are there.

naw but honestly harden is a cancer, the houston job is bad--high expectations with a cancerous superstar
Feeling mighty vindicated calling Harden toxic months ago but peeps all like "no he ain't." Mmm hmmm.
