Vogel would do well with the Kings roster, but not sure he'd want the job. Think Cuz would work well with him. Think WCS would blossom in his defense. Boogie would be am even bigger monster in a Princeton or Triangle system, considering he is as close as you get to a triple threat center.
By Moris Go To PostPlayers are gonna get silly contracts this off season, gonna be some real wild contracts. This off season is prime fuckery for sure. Anyway I laugh at all these teams throwing a fuckton of money at goons or otherwise underperforming players, playing musical fucking chairs for some idea of instant success instead of just getting some noobs they can mold into their systems and break of bad habits early.
Harrison Barnes going to get his Rashard Lewis contract.
I'm most curious to see what Conley does. That Memphis crew is pretty tight, but Conley is at a different point in his career than the rest.

To expand on my post too everyone was so keen on the Blazers being shit because they were new and young, they're a good argument for getting bench dudes and younger players precisely because they will buy into what you're doing and want to strive for something better now that they have that chance. A bunch of players are going to get maxxed out/overpaid and basically be the same player they were on their last team. Sometimes you get lucky and they improve or work in the system you're already running but lately that's a farce.
I would do what the Blazers did if I knew there would be cheap, young guys that fit their system in that FA period. They got cheap bigs that would do what was asked of them. To compare, the Knicks thought they were getting the right bigs for the triangle but they didn't get the guards they needed.

Team building takes time. Afflalo was solid offensively, actually really good until he got all up on his feels. Phil is two league average or better backcourt guards and a good coach away from having built a perennial playoff contender for the next several years from scratch + post injury Melo. But he needs upgrades at both guard positions and at least one more good find to bolster the bench in addition to Willy being good enough to replace Saraphin or O Quinn next season.

By 33MillionDollarMen Go To PostWhat's it take for a GM to be fired, serious question.that is a good question
blame never seems to fall on them. Sam Presti gives away Harden for peanuts, never brings in real talent and then Scott Brooks gets fired because he couldnt win a ring with Kendrick Perkins or Enes Kanter

If Phil gets a top coach while on Vacation he will have made the entire city's media look like idiots and will have an ace up his sleeve for all the esoteric triangle stuff he adopts for at least next season.
Based Phil....

Maybe Bird sees he has some players that would do well outside of fuckball... I mean PG13 had a near MVP season any other year... Maybe he wants to try to ride that window... TBF he didn't fire fire him just didn't reup him.
Not saying it's the right move yet. Just stating why it might have happened

Maybe he should have made sure there was at least a starting lineup capable of playing something that wasn't fuckball first.
I'm all for firing coaches who lose the locker room and get tuned out. But to pre-emptively fire a coach for that reason when all current indications are to the contrary is...weird.
If you look at the benches Vogel has had in his tenure... like WTF. How is he supposed to get the offense better if the depth is complete ass? The dude wrung blood from a stone for years and Bird wanted more. Vogel always got his teams to play hard and compete night in night out, dude managed to get Lance Stephenson to ball out.
The thing about Bird is he isn't a Morey type who didn't play or coach... he did both at a high level... he makes his teams a little goonish maybe as throw back to his era.
Perhaps he thinks their O is trash... even with their bad players. He let Vogal coach out his contract and didn't resign him. He gave him the duration of the contract to create a system but he didn't like it.
From everything I read he didn't let him because he thought they should have won more games just a weak system in his opinion...
Frank might go to NY and chip next year or not...

lol.
Pretty sure Larry just wants Smallball with PG at the 4.. and to make sure it's winning games.
of course PG hates it.. but Larry is gonna stick him there next year.

Shit I hope Memphis doesn't scoop in and get Vogel
and of course that seems to be their plan
Memphis Chris Wallace and Vogel are good friend.
On the flip I will go on the record and say while Memphis has the better roster now. Its aging and if they keep Conley capped out. Long term NY could very likely be the better job and it'll likely pay more
As it became clearer that Joerger wanted a more lucrative contract and a fresh start elsewhere, Grizzlies management cut ties with him. Memphis is starting its search immediately, and former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel is expected to get considerable attention in the early stages of the process, sources said.

I hope its not that clear cut. Memphis with Vogel in charge of that offense is going to sputter. I think they would actually be a lot better with Blatt and the princeton offense because they have a lot of guys who could cut to the basket off of Gasol passes.
Also it sounds like Joerger is the top Kings Coaching candidate.
http://www.memphisflyer.com/BeyondtheArc/archives/2016/05/07/dave-joerger-out-as-grizzlies-head-coach
To those of you who have been paying attention all year long, this probably isn't much of a surprise. It was well documented how he didn't had the best relationship with the Grizz's FO, but I didn't excepted him to be let go after all that happened this season. I guess with all those decent to good coaches available, the FO was confortable with firing him.
For starters, it marks the second time in three seasons that Joerger sought permission to interview for another vacancy—the first being the Minnesota Timberwolves' opening after the 2013-14 season. Given that this is an extremely critical summer for the Grizzlies—Mike Conley's free agency looms large, for one thing, but there are also several other roster spots that will need to be filled, and a real need to develop a new generation of young players to fill in around (presumably returning) Conley and Marc Gasol—it's not hard to understand that a guy who wants to be somewhere else probably isn't the guy to move forward with.

The Memphis Grizzlies situation: I'm told GM Chris Wallace interviewed for a Kings front office job (under Vlade). Everyone is jumping ship
Edit:

NBA sources say Grizz GM Chris Wallace secured permission to pursue the Kings' recent front-office vacancy before Sacramento pursued Joerger
By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostNo way Conley stays with that disfunction right?Don't tease me bro.
At this point I'm expecting a follow up tweet that Memphis is going to pick up McHale as their coach
Too many good coaches available for Phil to pick Rambis without their being a mutiny. I mean, even if you're confident he's a good coach, why would you put yourself and him in the position that a slow start next year will have deafening calls for him to be axed.

With the amount of better than average coaches available. If Phil goes with Rambis and they have a slow start Phil would be hearing a lot more calls for his own job as well.

Either phill's health is so good that he's consider coaching, or its so bad that he wants out of the contract to spend time with Jeanie.
Otherwise sticking around and picking Rambis would be the first major mistake of his tenure. He had some bad trades, but nothing massive or crippling - which the Knicks did every two years it seems. This would be a damn catastrophe.
Julius Randle could have a role in the Lakers' new schemes similar to the one Draymond Green has for the Warriors.
"Obviously there are a lot of similarities between Draymond and myself," Randle said. "There will be a lot to learn, but especially with the style of play, it’ll be fun for us to get up and down. Sharing the ball is going to be big for us this year. Just building that chemistry on both sides of the floor." New Lakers head coach Luke Walton will be excellent for Randle's development, and while the big man wouldn't reveal what he will be focusing on this summer, it's a decent bet that he will try to improve his ball-handling and playmaking ability.
"Obviously there are a lot of similarities between Draymond and myself," Randle said.

I just had a thought if Joerger goes to the kings... I think he should try to convince Conley to follow him.
Conley could become the leader/adult they need and provide them with high level PG play. Also Conley has to know him staying in Memphis locks that teams cap up for the foreseeable future.

I like to think they go after Vogel. They have a legit chance at him if he does it based on roster and potential for improvement. Add the GM fuckery we're hearing and it could happen. Even with Joerger out there Vogel just makes too much sense to not be the #1 choice.

Honestly all 3 guys give you what u need. They coach defense, have decent or solid rotations at times, and get buy in. The offense is going to be handled by Phil and the assistants in practice + 2 years of learning already.
Any one of the 3 work just fine. Blatt's the only question mark with buy in but lebron's a notorious diva, so that doesn't say much about Blatt.
Vogel and Joerger are basically the same guy, either one works.
If anything, you want the guy with no reservations about Phil and the triangle. The last thing you want is dysfunction between FO and Coach when there are 3 solid candidates to choose from.
