Marc Stein:
Sources say Houston will also talk to Frank Vogel as well as part of a Kings-style broad search if the Pacers let Vogel go as many expect.Protip to Morey: you should probably avoid doing anything that can be described as "Kings-style."
Jim Buss Believes Lakers Already Have 'Perfect Number Of Young Guys'
MAY 4, 2016 5:38 PM
The Los Angeles Lakers are hoping their lottery pick remains in the top-3 so it won't automatically be conveyed to the Philadelphia 76ers.
But there is some doubt as to whether the Lakers would like to keep the pick or trade it away for a proven player.
“Right now, I think our young guys are the perfect number and we will add solid veterans,” said Jim Buss.
The Lakers' young core consists of D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson.
With significant cap space, the Lakers can conceivably sign a free agent and trade for another top level player
Lakers have tried to trade their pick for a superstar around draft time every year now in the Jimmy era. I mean I appreciate the "go for broke to land a superstar or tank" strategy more then the "tank no matter what always and don't even put any effort to get better" Hinkie shit, but this is just an extension of what they've been doing for 2 off seasons now.
So I fully expect them to fail again.

By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostBiggest no brainer ever, except Dwight. So that will be fun.
Everybody knows dwight is gone. Also Harden in a D'antoni offense would be something to see.

If we were to get a top 3 pick, I believe he is dumb enough to bundle said pick with say Russell and/or Randle for a guy like Paul George or Cousins.

Sigh.
On another note, Phil's in Montana, where he always goes to clear his head. I'm starting to feel more and more convinced that he's trying to find a way to come back and coach.
If he does that, and convinces Blatt, Vogel, or some other solid coach to be his lead assistant for a year or two, he can create a seemless transition when he steps away. Plus he's the GOAT coach so they'll be a playoff team assuming solid health.

The downside of him having the window to succeed is he is fully on the "get mine now, fuck the future". I recognize cause it's been the only play in Dolan's playbook until Phil got here. It's a shame Mitch is stuck helping him perform that fuckery.

That is a possibility I hadn't considered. I hope not though just because he's looked sickly in all the pictures he's taken while on vacation. Just hire Vogel and stuff the staff with Triangle coaches.
On another note McHale has taken himself out of consideration for the Kings job. So the McHale to the Pacer's rumor might legit be true.
Pacers officially fire Frank Vogel.
"Bird: "My experience is good coaches leave after three years...I don't think Frank lost locker room, I think at times players don't listen."
lol wat? Bird is dumb.
Sorry Warriors fans, you've only got one more season of Kerr left.

Larry Bird: "Frank’s not getting fired, his contract is up and I just made the decision not to renew it."
lol
lol
Give Larry credit the first words out his mouth at the press conference was "Frank's Contract isn't be renewed" no bullshit or unnecessary words.
Chris Herring reports that the Knicks have been monitoring the Vogel job
Also Bird didn't have to let the world know Frank begged for his job. Though on the flip it sounds like Larry might of told him right before the press conference.

Eh I'm fine with Bird. Dude is a no bullshit guy with enough of a track record in Indy to warrant faith. He's been responsible for the highest points of that franchises success over the past 15 years - Reggie and PG just aren't enough to beat Kobe/Shaq and the Miami big 3. No shame in that.
Vogel really is a perfect fit for NY. Hope Phil gets it done.
Yea, but dude has no filter.

Wait, you wouldn't trade a 1-3 pick and Randle for Cousins?
Bird said McHale won't be the HC because of their relationship and then went on to praise Nate McMillian so he's likely a candidate.
By Fenderputty Go To PostWait, you wouldn't trade a 1-3 pick and Randle for Cousins?
That's a great deal for either of those guys
Also Bird said he fired Vogel by phone Brehs...... Sickening

Russell needs a lot less work than Randle, though I probably agree they're both fine.
By rvy Go To PostLarry Bird can do whatever the fuck he wants.
lol why? Because he was a great player? MJ was 10x the player he was and gets clowned all the time. Bird has now run both Carlisle and Vogel out of town. Doesn't seem like he appreciates the coaches he hires.

They've had more success than ever under his watch as coach and then as GM. Jordan has accomplished nothing even remotely close in terms of team success in his post playing years.
Bird wasn't an executive while Reggie was playing there. He did take them pretty far as their HC though.
His big moves as GM were finding gems like Granger, Hibbert, Stephenson (before he went crazy) and Paul George of course. He blew the Hansbrough pick and completely blew it by trading Kawhi for George Hill though.

Lowe put up a good postmortem article just now: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15468298/frank-vogel-just-latest-coach-grow-stale-larry-bird-world
Bird's track record is decidedly mixed as a front office exec. Lowe's post reminded me that he traded Gerald Green, Miles Plumlee, AND a 1st for Luis fucking Scola. Yikes.

Sure but multiple CF's and even a Finals berth happened with him there. Considering his best teams went up against Kobe/Shaq and Lebron era Heat you can't call his tenure anything other than a success.
Whereas Jordan has just flat out failed so far.

Jordan has helped to make them Hornets relevant, they were a laughing stock before he came around. Plus, Clifford is a hell of a coach. Buzz City is coming up
Had he left Hibbert in at the end of that game 1 when lebron was shook by him he might still have a job today
The George hill move makes bird an idiot
The business has a very low margin for error and he blew past the mark on that one

VERY early but here's a surprising list of names I'm hearing of possible #Pacers candidates: D'Antoni, Jackson, Shaw, Wittman, Woodson.
Please tell me Larry Legend fired Vogel so he could hire Randy Wittman or Brian Shaw lmao

The 76ers have added Marc Eversley, Ned Cohen and Brandon Williams to their front office. This is so awesome. Can't believe I'm alive to see INFINITE TANK MODE over.
Eversley will serve as VP of Player Personnel while leading the Sixers' scouting department, Cohen will be an Associate VP and Chief of Staff, and Williams will be the VP of Basketball Administration in charge of player development. It's a substantial shake-up orchestrated by team president Bryan Colangelo, who is beefing up his front office in anticipation of a crucial offseason for the franchise.

Can we all spam Larry Bird on Twitter telling him that those of us in the great state of Indiana would love Pacer legend Mark Jackson to come back as coach?
By Bowser Go To PostCandace Buckner @CandaceDBucknerWow that's an awful list. That's the kind of list I thought the Lakers would have.

Longtime Heat Reporter Believes Chris Bosh Won't Play In NBA Again
MAY 5, 2016 2:49 PM
Chris Bosh has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs and his career could be in jeopardy.
Ira Winderman, longtime beat writer of the Heat, believes Bosh's career could be over.
"I believe Chris Bosh will never play a basketball game again," said Winderman.
Bosh has been dealing with an undisclosed medical condition since the beginning of February believed to be blood clots.
Welp.
By lovingsteam Go To PostWelp.
I been hoping he just quit basketball and be family man. His legacy is certified already.
