NY is in a decent spot tbh, if they can get players to take their money. They could add someone like Conley and Courtney Lee and they could make the playoffs.
Conley/Lee/Melo/Porzingis/RoLo
Just got to flesh out a bench and not let Rambis be the head coach. Then if Melo Stays healthy and performs well you can take whichever picks + prospects the dumbest team is willing to offer for him.

Yeah I've given up almost any hope Melo leaves. Hell that's the main reason why I think he's going out his way to passive aggressively imply he doesn't want Rambis as the head coach. The whole "lets make sure Phil does a legit coaching search" was started by him and is the main reason Phil hasn't hired Rambis yet.
I'm hoping Phil goes with Blatt. The lineup actually fits the Princeton Offense a little more due to the general lack of high quality shooters on the roster besides Melo and KP.

Always wondered what Ewing could do as coach but he's fighting an uphill battle as HC in Sac and DMC.

They're not abandoning the triangle, they may institute some basic Princeton but whoever comes on board has to be willing to run the triangle as a pre-requisite.
Luke: “I don’t think the triangles the most appropriate offense for the players that they have down there.” Says styles will be more GSW.
welp. this should be at least interesting.
By Kabro Go To Postwelp. this should be at least interesting.
It's not he's right, LA is guard heavy and our premier Big has no post game.

I would argue why not use a hybrid of both just to make it harder for opposing defenses to read the offense. As well as take more advantage of guards who are better at driving (Grant and Wroten) than 3pt shooting.
I mean don't get me wrong outside of motion the intent is different, but the spacing can be hid to look similar.
it's also better suited for KP to play center since he's probably still won't be strong enough to play center in the triangle.
It would be great to see the Knicks have some small ball lineups this season that wasn't so reliant on quick transition points to score. It would make subbing a shit ton easier.

Knicks ran plenty of small ball lineups though. Lots of only KP or only RoLo lineups with some combination of Williams/Melo/LT in the front court.
Contrary to popular misconception, the triangle is actually pretty damn efficient when there is talent and good coaching - their real problem is defense. They need to be one of the top few teams in the league again defending the 3pt shot and one of the top few defending the rim and cut down on hacking people.

I'm basing my critique of KP at the center position based on how he looked trying to be post in those small ball lineups. Dream shake aside, he had a tough time out there. Having few plays based on him (or Melo) just catching and shooting from the low post area off of a screen pass wouldn't hurt.
Also going back to guards, I really rather the knicks try and make it work with the point guards they have than go after Conley this year (I rather they not have to pay big money on a PG in 2017 too but that's another conversation). Don't get me wrong Wroten and Grant will need to be able to shoot if the defense is packing the paint, but at the same time, with both those guys a system that emphasizes early backdoor cuts would help them get easier baskets.

Russell was one of the best PnR players in CBB last year. They should just hand the ball over to him and let him work.

By DY_nasty Go To Postits hard to judge a lineup/scheme's effectiveness when its run with garbage or GOATs
Curry, CP3, Nash are GOAT PG's. Wroten or Ish Smith or Eric Gordon tryna run high PnR turns to trash too.
Top 3 Adjusted ORTG this season were 115, 113 and 111.
Phil's last few years in LA they were 113, 111, 111, 109. Even without the benefit of analytics they were still running insanely efficient offensive systems.
The triangle being inefficient is just a myth that's been peddled over and over again by people who haven't bothered to look at Phil's most recent good teams.
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostSmokey, not like this.
By 33MillionDollarMen Go To PostOff-season gonna be some shit. Which team implodes first.
potentially most of them. a lot of Teams have space to just absorb contracts for picks and scrubs. So if its time to implode this offseason is better than most
I can't wait to see a bunch of scrubs get hella moneys. This off season is gonna rule. Fuck it. After my team exploded last season I am primed and weathered for fuckery.

By DY_nasty Go To PostBatum can really fuck off if he wants a maxHe's probably gonna get close to one.
Tons of franchises flush with cash with only a couple max worthy players.
So you know 1 or 2 shit tier organizations that are going to miss out on the big guys because they are shit tier are going to throw stupid money at players like Barnes and Batum(though Batum I can understand in the right situation) because they are desperate because they have been shit tier organizations too long. Thus continuing the vicious cycle of proving why they are shit tier organizations in the first place.
