MLB 2016 Official Regular Season Thread - Hot Dogs, Ketchup, Yappapi and AMURIKA
Once again, Opening Day is almost upon us baseball fans. For those who aren't knowledgeable of America's pastime, Opening Day is the first official day of the baseball season. For baseball fans it is a time when hope comes alive again; after a long winter of waiting.
On Opening Day every team starts with a clean slate; all the win/loss records are 0-0 and as they say, “hope springs eternal.” There is talk in every baseball town and among all baseball fans of how their team could win it all this year if only this or that goes right, if our players could live up to their real potential, if we could finally “gel” as a team, and if all the things we can’t control could go well for us and not so well for the other teams. “Have you seen that new rookie?” And “that trade we just made could make all the difference now!” Everyone is a believer on Opening Day, and if they're not they are already dead inside. As the great Bob Feller once said, "Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way baseball is."
Get ready, baseball fans. The long dark winter is over, the curtains have opened and it's time for the opening act to begin...

I am a supporter of Interleague play, but don't know how I feel about it on opening night for some reason..
By blackace Go To PostI am a supporter of Interleague play, but don't know how I feel about it on opening night for some reason..Yeah, I don't like the year-long interleague play, either. (Frankly, I don't like interleague, but I'm an AL guy and don't much care for NL-style baseball.) The unfortunate side effect of the Stros moving is we get weirdness like Cubs at Angels on opening day.
So obviously, we should send Houston back to the NL.

I like having the stros in the AL so the Rangers can rip out their hearts and stomp on it year after year!
Wow I completely forgot Pepsi ended their partnership with the Mets last year, so now the Pepsi Porch is being renamed the Coca-Cola Corner, the huge Pepsi sign is being taken down, Coke will replace Pepsi as the cola drink and if you want bottled water Dasani will replace Aquafina.

Good, Coke is superior anyways.

O's going to live and die by that long ball. We might be a surprise, we might be shit again, but we'll certainly hit homeruns and strikeout a ton. Going to be a fun season in the AL East.
We need somebody here to be in charge of letting SLAENT know about the no hitters so we can get that Dominos free pizza.
GO ASTROS!!!
GO ASTROS!!!
Really Cespedes? The absolute worst thing to happen there and OF COURSE he non-chalants and drops the liner.
EDIT: OF COURSE Royals take advantage and score a run.

Both pitchers settling down somewhat, but man Volquez looks like he's going to implode at any second. He's missing by alot at times and his mechanics is all over the place.
By Moris Go To PostI'm hitting up opening day for The Dodgers for the 5th year in a row, gonna be doooope.
Jealous. I'll be working.
Maddening game. Volquez struggled with control yet will go 6 shutout innings, and Harvey who looked more in control gets dinked and dunked to death with any mistake/error magnified. It's like a flashback to October 2015 again.
captain america failed
watched strike 3 sail right on by, probably knew he couldn't get around on it since he's old and hurt
Cespedes doing what Cespedes does best. SWANG AT ERRYTANG

I will. I would rather be at home though. Especially since my wife will start watching without me and then will rub it in. lol
From my experience she's odd for a female sports viewer. She loves baseball and thinks the rest can get fucked.
First team since 1913 to win on opening day with ONE hit, hahahaha. Suck it #6org
Nats walk in go-ahead run on 4 straight balls in the dirt in the bottom of the 8th!

O's day opener has now turned into a night home opener. Bottom of the fifth, scoreless against the Twins. Both clubs into their bullpens after two rain delays.
By cashman Go To Postbtw Enron I completely forgot about the GAF league draft. Fuck
I only sent like 8 million reminders
I love Justin Turner
Edit: get home, turn the TV on an see that SD is our home away from home with 60+ percent of fans being dodger fans at Petco

Orioles win 3-2 on a Wieters single (his 700th) in the bottom of the ninth. Rough ugly win. But a win.
They set the fireworks off.
I'm going to the Rays game on Friday night, so I hope we can keep this going.

That is so awesome. Had the chance to see Camden Yards 6 years ago, it was so odd to me to see the park below street level. Beautiful place though.
I'm probably alone in this, and it's really only for baseball, but I feel bad for the opposing teams pitcher when the score is an 11 point differential. The exception would be the Giants. The Giants can forever and always get fucked haha

Beautiful place though. It's a great ballpark which at the time was the first in the league designed specifically for baseball and only baseball. Now they're all doing it!
Gonna be a long rebuilding period for San Diego. They let everyone walk and for some unbelievably stupid reason didn't trade Justin Upton.
By Perfect Blue Go To Post2-0! Dickey actually starting the season well this year. AmazingIt's nice to see Dickey rebound after the back issues really robbed him of the hard knuckleball he learned as a Met. Good guy.
By The Frankman Go To PostIt's nice to see Dickey rebound after the back issues really robbed him of the hard knuckleball he learned as a Met. Good guy.Ever since the halfway point of last season dude has been on fire (except that one playoff game vs the Royals...). If we get at least 150 innings out of him this year I will be very happy.
That obstruction play is one of the nebulous rules in baseball that needs to be fixed. Carlos Correra was 2 feet in fair territory and should've been out, but since Betances airmailed the throw over him the ump is saying there's no obstruction; a.k.a if Betances hit Correra in the back Correra would be called out. It's a stupid call, Correra should be out for not running in his designated lane.
