Cmon dude, you're better than this
How is "team wants to get players that are great fits for their system" a bad thing?
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostSome owners are cheapskates.Sure but that also seems like an NBA oversight. I dunno, the more I read about injuries, owners. You got assholes like Lebron pushing their weight around to get rid of a decent coach rather than shore up a worthwhile player's union (lol Paul as pres) to ensure that these fucking franchises don't fuck players over. These are dudes with pull, millions, and generate gobs of revenue for the NBA and their respective teams. Yet they're consistently silent about FO bullshit that really shouldn't be happening to any other player. Fucks sake.

Look, if a lockout was needed to just agree on a 50/50 split of revenues, they're not gonna jeopardize an agreement in principle by raising a fuss over some teams not doing all they can to keep players healthy.
In theory it is in the purview of the union to watch out for these kinds of things but they only have so much resources/bandwidth to work with. Besides, no one knows if it's even what the players want. If the choice is between NOP and what the Sixers are doing with their tracking of blood levels and sleep levels and all that, are the players even in agreement which one of the extremes they'd want?
It's never that simple.
By Branduil Go To PostSpurs got LMA and they were still ranked so low? Why does the media hate the Spurs so much
No extremes to be seen here, we're talking about teams not having basic ass infrastructure. No department head for medical? Trying to dismiss it with some kind of "team collaboration" crap. Just ugh. You'd think other teams owners being as money grubbing and scrupulous as they are when it comes to funds would also demand it so they don't get fucking duds or bad investments in players.
By Rob Go To PostSpurs got LMA and they were still ranked so low? Why does the media hate the Spurs so much
They're bored. Would be so much more delicious if the Spurs won this year after people declared them dead when they lost to the clips.
“It shouldn’t be a balance (between finding players to fit a system and building a system around the players). It’s whatever decision you want to make,” Kurt Rambis said. “The decision with management is to get players who fit into the system. Neither way is wrong. It’s about your mindset and what you want to do. And I think the whole process has been to get players who we feel will fit into the system. No team stays pat except the exceptional teams. Everybody is trying to improve and find ways to get better. Naturally, we’ll be one of those teams."

This isn't even a thing. The fact that people are making that distinction while praising SA is hilarious.
SA is perhaps the pickiest in the entire league in terms of the skillset, attitude, IQ, and ego requirements they go through before they get anyone. For all the "Pop builds his system around his teams" nonsense - the fact is that he targets very specific kinds of players. He doesn't, for example, target the best Isolation players in the league and then ride or die with 20 foot chucking. All his guys shoot, pass, make cuts, and fit into their schemes. And when LMA went to SA, he spent months struggling because he was having a hard time grasping his system.
So yes, you can either scrap your system - get players, and then build a system from scratch (which no established people do), or you can have a system and then target players that fit that system (which almost everyone does).
As Kibner said - the requirements to get someone for the Triangle are about skillset, IQ, and versatility - basically the exact same stuff that Pop goes after. It's all about execution of that strategy - because like SA - when you take the knuckleheads and non-skilled players out, you have a smaller pool of people to go after.

I'm sad I only just found this: http://uproxx.com/tag/behind-the-bench/
A local NOLA comedian has a ticket that sits right behind the visitor's bench. The articles are observations on the visiting team and their reactions to his good natured heckling ("Do you wanna party with Luke Babbitt tonight?").
Apparently Kristaps is the most professional-like rookie this season and him and Lance Thomas were the only ones to take a loss to the Pels seriously.

Those guys are on short term deals for like no money. Assets to be traded in a rising cap or guys to be cut with no real financial pain.
D Will I think has proven himself acceptable though if all he's going to command is 4 million a year.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/04/12/knicks-mark-jackson-coaching-search/
Two weeks ago, Knicks president Phil Jackson told confidants he had not made up his mind on his former Lakers triangle compadre, who will carry a 9-18 record into the Knicks’ season finale against the Pacers.
The Post reported last week Jackson still was heavily considering Rambis because it would allow him greater input. A subsequent online report stated Jackson was “pushing” for an extension for Rambis. That same website backtracked Monday and claimed Jackson has been intrigued by former Cavaliers coach David Blatt
Looks like the real coaching search has begun and Rambis probably moves on from HC to some other role while Phil finds someone else to take over. Also looks like Phil never promised the job or tried to get an extension for Rambis, NY Post had to backtrack that story when like two days later it was apparent there was a real coaching search going on.

I think Porter is definitely better than "meh". He's already a top 10ish SF and there is no sign that he has plateaued yet. I think he'll have, at worst, a Nicolas Batum caliber career, and there's a pretty good chance he does quite a bit better. That's a bit underwhelming for a #3 overall pick, but it's not bad either. He'll be an above-average starter for 10 years.
