it was guaranteed the Warriors were getting the record since around win 60 or so. it was only a question of when.
also, michael has told Draymond and Curry to go after the record. it's probably him just bullshitting the current hot topic, but Curry and Draymond have taken it to heart and use it as motivation. Either way, I don't think michael cares too much about the record being broken.

By Trey Go To Postit was guaranteed the Warriors were getting the record since around win 60 or so. it was only a question of when. What are you talking about? They damn near lost to the Grizz the other night which would have meant they could only tie.
Btw, I'll hold that L from my preseason prediction. We weren't that far from 60 though, including a boatload of close losses and resting our stars late in the season.
By KingGondo Go To PostWhat are you talking about? They damn near lost to the Grizz the other night which would have meant they could only tie.
this was only gonna end one way, gondo. with the warriors breaking the record.
Grizz be like one way or another you're getting an L. Either one with an AC next to it or otherwise.
By DY_nasty Go To Postoh. its time to bring up the preseaon thread already? psy pls no don't do itOh let's do it.
Kobe's final game is coming up....so wild to me. Been watching him almost my entire BBall watching life.
The Thunder winning 60 wasn't an outrageous prediction. They largely underachieved this season given how ridiculous Westbrook and Durant have been most of the year. Traditional thought is that having 2 of the top 5 guys in the league should guarantee that many wins, not many could have predicted their bench cycling between "good supporting staff" and "dumpster fire" on the regular.
I think Mike's the kind of dude who would be slighted if someone told him he only kept the record because the other guys weren't trying.
And it's silly to say it was in the books, their end of year schedule was unquestionably tough. If the last two losses hadn't come against teams they won't see again this season (Boston and Minnesota), but maybe against say, Utah, Portland, Memphis, or SA, we'd be reading pages of editorials about why they were the 2007 Mavs primed for a first round upset or how San Antonio had the perfect formula and mah vetruns to give GS the L.
Win 72 being so convincing against SA (playing Leonard, Aldridge, and Parker), they are now the easy pick to come out of the West, but even one game could have swayed that.

By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostYea I said 30-40 and ended up with 35 once Reilo wanted to me double down on that number. Then the collapse happened. But considering how little depth this team had and how much time either Melo/Porzingis/Afflalo missed it's not that unimpressive.I love your boundless optimism for everything Knicks but I don't them moving past Chicago or DC much less the team's actually in the playoffs. They need quite a bit more than a couple pieces since Afflalo Williams and probably gallo will be exiting. With Melos regression and the rosters/franchises limited appeal to free agents i think there's a slim chance of them making the playoffs next year. But if KP comes back next season looking like Anthony Davis then maybe
Going 22-22 with Afflalo missing the first couple of weeks and Melo missing like 5-6 games in that stretch that all led to losses was pretty impressive in retrospect.
I do think that a couple solid off-season acquisitions, improvement from Porzingis, and Thibs is enough to get them a playoff seed next year and for the foreseeable future. Just not sure any of that is going to happen.
Well, Davis still has yet to play a full season, so I wouldn't be counting on him to carry me to the playoffs.

By rodeoclown Go To PostWell, Davis still has yet to play a full season, so I wouldn't be counting on him to carry me to the playoffs.64, 67, 68, and 61 games played. His career high for being available for a game is 83%; his career low is 74%. :(
Even if he had played all 82 games this season, the rest of the injuries on the team would have sunk them much too low to make the playoffs. I still think they would have been a 50 win team if everyone was available for 90% of their games.

Weird question that's also hard to control for since many teams have had different trainers/docs and regimens over the years but are their teams/regions more or less prone to injuries over the course of the years?
pls Wolves, win one for all of us tonight.

Just cuz I know you all care...
I haven't been posting much just cuz I've been using my free time online for politics stuff and yes I post at that other board. But I have been reading here and I still watch NBA games all the time, even crappy Laker games. Not as much when they're good (which has actually been god since I play more bball now) but I still watch! Now that the playoffs are upon us, I'll be posting more again. So you haven't lost me. I've always been here.
On the basketball front, it's hard for me to get excited about round 1. Honestly, I don't think they're that many good teams in the NBA right now. I feel like it's Spurs vs Warriors and nothing else completely matters. Hopefully, the games are exciting and played well.
