ALL OF THOSE PGS WERE INFERIOR OFFENSIVE PLAYERS TO CURRY
Of course it means everything! They did just great against that Bulls defensive WITH hand checking.

By Kabro Go To Postlol pls.
portland got worn down in the 4th quarter in game 7.
one of the biggest collapse i've ever witnessed.
they had a 20+ lead going into the 4th, call that a physical worn or mental worn.
as for detroit in the 04 finals, Larry brown's defensive scheme of double everyone but kobe worked to the point the lakers simply gave up by game 5.
Or maybe, the Blazers got Bavetta'd and confused, and it wasn't because they got tired. Or that the Pistons had one of the all time great defenses in the history and the Lakers didn't figure out how to adjust
Again, this fixation on the idea of "well, they just got worn out" when the answer's obvious, the better prepared team with the better top level players won.
fine, they held their own against the bulls.
but who can say they beat the bulls in a playoff series because they had a great pg?
penny perhaps?

By Kabroall these points being argued is moot.
No it's not. Which is why Reilo is bringing up how PG's did against them. That stat is valid when bringing up Curry's performance.

it's all Charles's fault.
you'd have an argument if the game didn't evolve in the past 20yrs, but it did.
its an exercise in comparing apples to oranges.
By blackace Go To PostI liked what I saw from him tho… He has great great feet for a kid over 7 feet…
but he looks like he could be anywhere from the Greek Freak to Yi
By IWMTB19 Go To PostHe's super clumsy and can't catch anything. Not really seeing anything from him right now.
Seems like a guy that is years, I mean 4 of them, away from being close to contribute. His defensive stance is great, but his instincts and decision making are horrendous.
His "offensive rebounding" would basically all be called for over the backs in the NBA, he doesn't really read the ball in the air.
He seems fluid enough on the run, but he has no vertical to speak of. Looks uncomfortable with his own size.
He gets out muscled at the mention of someone being with in 5ft of him. He can't / doesn't pass. His hook shot is terrible.
He looks like someone who has been very well coached, because what he does looks technically good. But who doesn't / hasn't played very much actual 5 on 5 basketball. And is now turning down stuff like the Nike Hoops Summit. I mean, I hate that he's turning that down anyway, seems more like hiding than anything else.
I mean he's not even the top rated PF prospect in this HS class
There's a lot of potential for another thabeet here.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostI mean, spending the 31st pick on him wouldn't be that horrible.
Yeah, if we snatched him with the cavs pick I wouldn't be mad. But that's where you'd get him. Either in the 30's in the first round if you really liked his potential, or mid second.
By Kabro Go To Postits also invalidated because how the game was called different back then.

I'm not even sure the handcheck would matter with how the dubs spread the floor compared to the 90's. Go small ball and watch Longley and Wennington cry.
So the narrative of "Lol Bulls couldn't even stop old era PG's" doesn't really hold much weight imo.
By Kabro Go To Postbreh, you're using "but the refs" argument when the blazers forgot how to make baskets in the 4th?
what, the refs forced the ball out of the hoop or something?lol
And you're saying "They got tired" when there are numerous more valid reasons why the Lakers won and the Blazers lost.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostSo the narrative of "Lol Bulls couldn't even stop old era PG's" doesn't really hold much weight imo. It's why we have averages, mang. Curry is a much better player than any of those guys and they all averaged in line within their season averages when the argument was that the Bulls just stopped everyone. I didn't mention Starks or any of them for a reason lol.
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostAnd you're saying "They got tired" when there are numerous more valid reasons why the Lakers won and the Blazers lost.dunno, i wasn't there. its possible its a mixture of mental and physically worn.
I can argue either, but their performance in the 4th is result of one of those two factors.
it wasn't like phil shifted something by the end of the 3rd.there was no shift in defensive schemes, and they were running the triangle. so nothing changed for the lakers at that point.
By diehard Go To Postcomparing eras is stupid..
Mainly because older eras for some reason get stat boosts in the future but putting a new player in an old era decreases their stats.
Like Curry goes from 99 handles in 2016 to 15 handles if he plays in 96.

The nostalgia is dumb. That said, anyone who thinks that prime bulls would sweep this warrior squad or vice versa is being irrational.
Also, lol at blaming the refs for the game 7 Blazers collapse. I get that some people don't want to assign blame to "choking" or "collapsing" because they'd prefer more statistical answers. But fuck if someone's going to pretend NBA players are cyborgs with no emotional or mental components and be taken seriously. Players and teams choke all the time. They get hesitant. They get passive. They don't shoot the ball with confidence. Sure over large sample sizes this stuff evens out and better teams win. But over small contained and isolated periods, this stuff absolutely has an effect.
Re-watch that fourth quarter. The Blazers collapsed and lakers hit a bunch of threes. One or two questionable calls either way always happen, that's not the story of the entirety of that quarter.

The only thing I really think is odd about comparing eras is that what people fail to see is most likely with no hand checking MJ most likely averages 40 pts per game with and 15+ fts per game. Don't know if that equals a win for the Bulls but no hand checking most likely helps the Bulls quite a bit as well.. and if they played with hand checking.. I don't know if the Warriors would be about that life

so, what's more of a blatant tank move than this?
Lou Williams and Brandon Bass will likely be out of the rotation for the final six games, giving more minutes to D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Tarik Black.

But Jordan also had the benefit of illegal defense rules making it much easier to run ISOs. How many times is he gonna get to the rim when defenses can overload on him?
Not saying he wouldn't be able to do it, but to think he'd just get a shot at the rim every time he touched the ball is a little silly.
By Kabro Go To Postso, what's more of a blatant tank move than this? The fact that Booker may miss the rest of the season to a possible foot problem.
By diehard Go To Postgrizz might lose out and miss the playoffsI'm not sure if it's possible at this point in the season ;_;
I didn't want to be right but I called a couple months ago that the Grizzlies should just shut it down for the season and tank due to how not worth it it is to continue with Marc out and with a lack of real young talent to develop. No need to risk further injury with no players to really develop and knowing that your team cannot go deep without Marc.
This was before the trades for Born Ready but even then without Marc and with how inconsistent Conley has been and how injured Conley and Randolph been this whole season it is a nightmare just ruined by injuries.
I hope they can bounce back soon but they should have shut it down earlier.

He wouldn't get a shot at the rim everytime but MJ was a great passer and even under the rough playoff rules MJ was getting to the line about 8 times per game.
We also know 2nd 3peat MJ's game translates fairly well to today's NBA thanks to Kobe... I believe the no handchecking rule would help MJ as much as anybody
