By Phlebas Go To PostRonaldo likely to be more fit than Benz with that extra rest he's had. Doubt we see Benz in the first leg, Carvajal to get some time in the second half I think.
Hopefully Danilo isn't too dire 🌚
i think carvajal will start, danilo would let a goal in within the first 15 minutes
By Freewheelin Go To PostMight go see Jungle Book this evening. Wasn't too fussed by the trailers but the reviews have somewhat sold me, plus dat cast.Sal liked it, not sure why you need more reasons to go.
Even though Rashford has had a great start to his career the jury is still out on him. Feel like he could go either way become a great player or just be another Januzaj. Martial is amazing he will do well and be a future Legend. Lingaard is just a young Ashley Young.
By Cleff Go To PostSince S4 my interest in GoT has been decreasing.
The more they divert from source the worse it gets. I'm not a zealot for sticking to the source material either. It's noticeable to me that when the showrunners have to fill in the gaps the plot suffers. Their characterization of Stannis is a low point.
For all the aspects that make A Song of Ice and Fire a natural fit for a tv show adaptation there are just as many that make it very unsuitable, especially when you're going for 10 episode seasons. A bit of the issue is a lot of those problems only grow as the series goes on, with the sprawl of the world just steadily expanding, while the characters that were used as tethers change either in ways that make them and their plotlines less interesting, or disappear for obvious reasons. Epic fantasy tends to slide out into a trillion PoV characters of varying quality as a series goes on, and it absolutely happens in the book series, some of the PoVs in the book four and five are absolute slogs to get through, and seem to have little importance in the greater scheme of things. I still enjoyed the books, and I'm looking forward to The Winds of Winter, but it's in part because the middle books of epic fantasy series often are the weaker ones, and you see a return to form once you approach the end game and you get an increased focus.
That being said, I do feel like the showrunners have done a poor job overall. Even accepting the fact that you have to give short shrift to some characters given the fairly short run time compared to the sheer amount of content, some characters that are engaging in the books have just been completely altered to fit into a shortened narrative. As a result, they've become either pointless or unlikable. I'm genuinely curious as to whether they even had any idea of where Stannis would end up in their version of the story when he was introduced, not that I was a huge fan of him from the books either, but at least his plotline feels like it has some significance there. It feels like there is a lack of focus on the overarching plot, and instead you're mired down in these mini-arcs where people rise and fall, and you're left with the sense that a lot of the running time is wasted on things that are fundamentally dull because the characters aren't compelling enough for you to care about their personal tribulations and it has minimal bearing on anything larger. Changing a character is fine, but not if ultimately what you sacrifice is their entire purpose or meaning in an overall story.

By Cleff Go To PostIf Mouronho ends up United manager we're going shopping in Portugal.Has Mourinho ever particularly favoured Portuguese players over other nationalities? Apart from a couple signed during his first stint at Chelsea I can't think of any major transfers of Portuguese players since then.
By Cleff Go To PostIf Mouronho ends up United manager we're going shopping in Portugal.I'd like to see a stat to prove this. Portuguese players are way too expensive for what they turn out to be.

I don't like GoT because its based on good books. I just think its poorly paced, poorly edited, awkwardly acted in parts and cheaper looking than its supposed to be.
Juventus trying to buy the boy André Gomes from Peter Lim Inc. aka Valencia.
Haven't seen him play since he left Benfica.
They'll pay 20 million € or something and then expect him to be World class.

In my case I don't think the book series is amazing, it's a good epic fantasy series, but it has a lot of issues, and the world isn't really that interesting to me either. I would imagine the disillusionment for a lot of people comes more from the fact that they were reasonably close to actually making a genuinely good modern fantasy show, and then just totally bricked it when it comes to structure. Originally I actually felt the show could be a good way to streamline the story a bit. Still fun enough to watch though.
I wish there was a show only with the hot blonde and the midget. All the other stuff about the show is boring and reasons I stopped watching.

With that said I do think Rashford is going to make it.
Steve Clarke is another manager who says he is interested in the Celtic job. It's like Celtic is a bitch in heat.

15 minute compilation of Totti from 1992-2014. Vid shows he was obviously a great footballer, but I don't think he'll be remembered as one of the best simply because he didn't win enough over his career. Won't be remembered as fondly as say Del Piero. Should've left Roma years ago.

Just bought a naughty Adidas maroon t-shirt, followed up by a retro Ellesse one. Going to look superb in San Diego come the end of May.
Now I'm shitting in Marks & Spencer's. Did a big one in the disabled toilet and within five seconds of entering I had people knocking on the door. Shrieking outside about wondering if there's someone in there, despite me shouting "I'm going to be two minutes". Ended up rushing out because they were pissing me off, and they'd disappeared.

Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone says every game "feels like the Champions League final" as they fight for Premier League survival.
"We're fighting for the Premier League, but that's our Champions League," 28-year old Mannone told BBC Newcastle. "We need to maintain this standard and hopefully score a few of the chances we create. It's a strange feeling, but it feels like the Champions League Final every game," Mannone added.
I've not seen the new GoT episode yet but imagine going from transferring an incredible book like Storm of Swords into a TV series to the dull as fuck AFFC over 18 months. How would you maintain your passion for it.

South Africa's sports minister has banned four of the country's sport federations from bidding for major international tournaments after they failed to create enough opportunities for black players.
Rugby, cricket, athletics and netball are the affected federations.
The South African Rugby Union had announced it would bid for the 2023 Rugby World Cup by the June deadline.
But minister Fikile Mbalula says the ban is in place for at least a year.

But Norwich is even worse. and Newcastle truly deserves it.
I'll watch the first episode in an hour. I have the day off today. Most likely won't enjoy it as I haven't found the show remotely exceptional for a couple of seasons now. It'll be fine. It's just underwhelming because the books are so much better than fine. It's such a shame GRRM writes slower than my spine grows.
Viva, when I say you played well against Everton I meant in the league. Didn't see the FA Cup the other day.

It's a massive societal problem rather than one organizations fault for not doing more. Seems like a pointless ban to me.

Fans that turn up and scream their arse off regardless of current events. Fans who live and work for their football team. As are Newcastle, to be honest, but they probably need a reset to get rid of Ashley.

I thought the first two seasons of GOT were dynamite. Season 3 I stopped enjoying it so much and season 4 was just awful. Completely uninterested in it since then.
Silicon Valley though, there's a show that keeps on delivering. Season 3 ep 1 was fabulous.
Also wtf is with Viva, WJD and Arnie all showing up at once? Is it already time for the 20 year reunion?

Saw Jungle Book last night with my family. We all unanimously decided we'd made a mistake from the second we saw a trailer for Top Cat.
It wasn't bad - and the visuals were obviously lovely - but it's unequivocally a film for humans with undeveloped brains (kids). Enjoyed Bear Necesseities and the crazy Cristopher Walken monkey.

I'm buzzing for Villareal, although no Sakho or Div has taken the edge off. If we win the Europa League I'll be made up but the season is effectively over for me.
