Yeah, this M2 Air is a great laptop. I go back and forth on whether this or my old Surface 2 was my favorite. I think the fanless nature and longer battery life edges out the touch screen. Man, if the Air had a touchscreen, too...
was about to pull the trigger on a $1600 M2 Air only to realize last second that it only has a 60hz screen. oh apple...
Three Arrows. Voyager Digital, a publicly traded crypto exchange based in New York that once had a multibillion-dollar valuation, filed for Chapter 11 in July, reporting that Three Arrows owed it more than $650 million. Genesis Global Trading, headquartered on Park Avenue, had lent Three Arrows $2.3 billion. Blockchain.com, an early crypto company that provided digital wallets and evolved into a major exchange, faces $270 million in unpaid loans from 3AC and has laid off a quarter of its staff.
Among crypto’s smartest observers, there is a widely held view that Three Arrows is meaningfully responsible for the larger crypto crash of 2022, as market chaos and forced selling sent bitcoin and other digital assets plunging 70 percent or more, erasing more than a trillion dollars in value. “I suspect they might be 80 percent of the total original contagion,” says Sam Bankman-Fried, who as CEO of FTX, a major crypto exchange that has bailed out some of the bankrupt lenders, has perhaps more visibility on the problems than anyone. “They weren’t the only people who blew out, but they did it way bigger than anyone else did. And they had way more trust from the ecosystem prior to that.”
i uh hmm okay
By Not Go To PostAs long as the middle class keeps falling for the scam, it's not going anywhereehh if its not going anywhere then it's kinda not a scam lol
By diehard Go To Postehh if its not going anywhere then it's kinda not a scam lolIt still is if these currencies keep doing rug pulls and other forms of theft. Which they constantly are. Yet people keep putting money in them.

Yet people keep putting money in them.oh yeah the random shitcoins are 100% a scam but BTC itself, while I'm skeptical about it actually becoming a real currency, I wouldn't really call it a "scam" in the same fashion. At some point it has to establish itself as viable currency to stay around.
Blockchain itself is pretty deep in the "trough of disillusionment" of the hype cycle IMO.
Never thought I could enjoy doing software development on a laptop, but here we are. No fans, no/little heat, super long battery life, very light, quick enough to do what I need without me getting impatient, and a high enough screen dpi that I can increase the font size for everything a step or two to be more legible for me and still be able to fit enough characters on the screen without having to minimize side windows and whatnot inside IDEs.
A+ do recommend the M2 Air (even though the M1 Air was also probably good enough, too, and the M2 Pro is a better "value" compared to what I paid for the 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD upgrades).

By s y Go To Postfound out today that transfer speeds slow down dramatically the less space there is.True for both SSD and HDD.

Wasted about 30 minutes trying to move 10gbs to an external HDD before I found the right answer on Google.
Does HDD/sdd space affect cpu/GPU performance too?
Does HDD/sdd space affect cpu/GPU performance too?
I mean not really. It will affect install/load times to noticeable amount but nothing to write home about.
By s y Go To PostWasted about 30 minutes trying to move 10gbs to an external HDD before I found the right answer on Google. It can affect CPU/GPU utilization if the drive is unable to feed them the data they want quick enough. HDDs suffer from fragmentation as well as segments written closer to the center of the drive being slower to access since they work like record players and optical disc drives.

Not an issue for most people nowadays because auto-defrags and trimming help drives stay as in good of shape as they can.
For video games, you mostly care about sequential read speeds. For general computer usage, random read speeds are king. Unless you are moving files around or editing large or large numbers of files, write speeds are largely irrelevant for casual users.

More than likely his cpu/gpu is overheating because the heatsink and or fan is clogged up with dusk resulting in severe downclocking.

A certain 5400 RPM OEM hard drive, as shipped with laptop PCs in approximately 2005, allows physically proximate attackers to cause a denial of service (device malfunction and system crash) via a resonant-frequency attack with the audio signal from the Rhythm Nation music video.
Steve has been running through the jank with stage manager in other threads, but god damn what a hot mess this all looks like. Early on I was considering if I wanted to upgrade my Pro to get Stage Manager, but I feel like I’m put off buying another one until they really have a good idea of what they want the iPad to be
I've been using youtube for years and just now realized
This is disappointing.

Verizon is evil 😂
Was confident there's an outage in area but contacted support anyway. Wants to charge me to get a tech out cause it told me my service box (separate from router) and wiring is gone out. $99 or $15/mo maintenance fee 😫😫
Walk outside and my neighbor asks of my Verizon was down, too.
Motherfuckers. They're doing all this to send out a tech to charge each of us money eventhough the entire neighborhood is calling in about the outage.
Now I have to call and get my Karen on.

No because the monopoly that providers have. I think I have almost no other FiOS options.
It's worse in other parts of the country where your only ISP choice is either DSL or Comcast.

By Lunatic Go To PostDoes threatening to change ISPs get it dealt with?and go with who? Spectrum?
reilo calls Verizon threatening to switch, they're gonna laugh at him and charge him more
By Lunatic Go To PostDoes threatening to change ISPs get it dealt with?Yeah, like Reilo said, people often don't have a choice. Especially in areas that aren't densely populated. Also worth keeping in mind that all these major ISPs get federal money to improve infrastructure and America still has terrible internet infrastructure. Fuck all these ISPs.
I thank my lucky stars every day that I had a local ISP for most of my life that was affordable, reliable, and with competitive data speeds so that I didn't have to deal with Charter, Comcast, Verizon, or anyone else. They even ran fiber out to all their customers even though most of the area they cover is very rural.
Although it now looks like they merged with another company to form Lets Rev??? https://letsrev.com/

It's still down and Verizon still refuses to acknowledge an outage.
