Never used LinkedIn in my life but all I’ve heard is terrible things. Once I get my degree I hope I can put it to use in the government because I don’t want to deal with private sector bs unless the pay is double

Probably useless for most people but IRfanView is great image viewer if you're looking for an alternative to the stock windows photo viewer. Comes installed with a custom slideshow plugin where you can set the time in-between slide advancements
I tried to figure out for hours how i can stream spotify to both my sonos and my samsung speaker at the same time. Looking at all these weird options or buying echos to stream to them only to find out that it just works with airplay 2.
Apple won
Apple won
Yea Apple Music on Mac/iOS has a checkbox to all your compatible and available sound sources, so basically anything Airplay.
I assume Spotify has the same since it has Airplay

In October, he elevated a longtime friend and colleague, Andrew Bosworth, who is known as Boz, to chief technology officer, leading hardware efforts for the metaverse. He promoted other loyalists, too, including Javier Olivan, the new chief operating officer; Nick Clegg, who became president of global affairs; and Guy Rosen, who took on a new role of chief information security officer.

Huh. You can install Edge on MacOS. Cool.
Also, my Macbook Air M2 came in yesterday. Still getting used to it, especially since this is my first Apple computing device since using my cousin's Apple IIe growing up. First impressions:
I think I'm missing a couple things I wanted to mention, but this is everything that comes to mind right now.
Also, my Macbook Air M2 came in yesterday. Still getting used to it, especially since this is my first Apple computing device since using my cousin's Apple IIe growing up. First impressions:
- very responsive
- screen just big enough with just a high enough resolution for me to be able to program without feeling cramped
- despite it being very light, still a little heavier than i anticipated
- keys feel a little odd to me; almost like they are constantly on the verge of being activated and giving me a sense of unsteadiness
- the App Store is pretty desolate; i found almost nothing of value there
- XCode took like over an hour to install; this is longer than installing a modern version of Visual Studio with all the options, yuck
- the App Store takes forever to install updates, too
- i am so not used to the keyboard shortcuts; i don't like how Spotlight/search is a two-key combination
- battery life is superb so far; still on my first charge
- the dock at the bottom of the screen was overloaded with way too many apps; the first thing i did was figure out how to remove all but four of them
I think I'm missing a couple things I wanted to mention, but this is everything that comes to mind right now.

Thanks for the link! I had already discovered a few of those on my own, but implemented most of the rest.
Oh! The lack of a fan in the Macbook Air M2 is fucking wonderful. That alone makes it so much more pleasant to use than my work's Dell XPS laptop with a i7-1185G7 @ 3.00GHz. No fan and still runs cooler.
One other weird thing that I just discovered about MacOS: it does not support having multiple instances of an app running. Instead, apps typically implement "tabbed" UI to mimic having multiple instances of an app up. This is very awkward for me right now because I can't just shift+click to open a new instance.
I think the Finder doesn't support that but you can use a terminal command "open -n -a application name" and you can a simple script if you just want to click something. I think some applications like Visual Studio have a "launch new instance" built into them also.
CMD+N will open a new finder window. macos fully supports multiple windows of the same app, so long as those apps support it too
I see.
Is there a UI option to make windows stack in the Dock or when I CMD+TAB? It stinks having to rely on programs having their own way of merging windows or going up to the Window menu option and switching manually.
Battery life has been even better now that I switched to low-power mode and I haven't noticed a difference in performance with the things I do on the Air, so yay! I saw a review that showed that the performance in low-power mode is competitive or even better than i7-12000 series CPUs on battery power, so, yeah, low power on M2 is still very performant.

In somewhat related news (since I've been doing development work on the Air), I just finished optimizing the build process for images for the static site generator I'm using for my MDX documentation framework I'm creating. I had been struggling with trying to figure out how to do this part for a while, so I'm very happy.
I optimized the build process for content pages yesterday and images this morning. Now to do the same for site navigation, breadcrumbs, and tables of contents within content pages. I think there is a better way to do things there since my static GraphQL query that provides the info for all three takes long enough that my SSG is giving me a warning about it. lol
e: a quick feature demo site for the framework: https://mdx-documentation-site.netlify.app/
There is currently a bug where the mobile hamburger icon is still visible in desktop mode. I will fix that one day.

Once I get this last build optimization and that visual bug figured out, I'll be working on integrating this with a CMS system so that non-technical users can more easily use it. Looking at Sanity, but it does not support file hierarchies out of the box. It is flexible enough for me to code a UI to support that, but that is a lot of work. lol
So, if anyone else has good CMS suggestions that allow hierarchal file storage, support GraphQL to query for data, and have a decent free tier plan, please let me know. I am wanting to port this implementation of my framework to a CMS as proof of concept and then spin up some similar sites for friends when we play rules-heavy games so that we can more easily share information and notes with each other rather than telling people to flip to page 97.
After CMS gets integrated, then I need to work on getting a good search feature implemented... I remember looking at Algolia in the past but I wasn't sure how to implement it well. I know more about how this stuff works now, though, so a second shot at it would probably be more successful.

This xDSL + 4G link aggregation move has been a true blessing. The jump from 20mbit to 80-100mbit is a much bigger deal than I thought, haha.
I've had 0 problems, connection hasn't dropped once, haven't restarted my Mikrotik 4G router or my TP-Link multi-WAN router in months.
It made (eternally) waiting for fiber much more bearable.

You can also assign specific apps to a specific Mission Space and then split full screen apps between a specific Space, etc. I do that and then can use swipe left and right to switch between spaces and don't need to CMD Tab
I also use Moom: https://manytricks.com/moom/
But I think there's probably newer better apps in that space nowadays

Been having an issue with my Macbook recently (tbf, it is quite old at this point, early 2017). It seems to go into some kind of boot problem whenever I shut the lid overnight without power connected. I'm not sure how to fix it.
Here is the error code if anyone wants to help lol
