I’m on year 7 of my current MBP, the only issue was a battery recall, where it was replaced for free but had to be sent away for a week or so.
Don't cheap out on computer hardware this is my final warning. An adult should be spending minimum of 1400 on a laptop that is their daily driver. Just ask KidJr who had to waterboard himself as penance.
I have an s20, I think the normal one. The best android phone I've had next to my pixel 2 but camera is lagging way behind now I saw pics on an iphone 12 pro and yeah different was startling and also battery is shit. I hope the pixel 6 is good as the 3 was terrible. How have you enjoyed the 5 relio?

hahahaha hopefully.
I dont know what US prices are like but good laptops most certainly start at around 800+.
I had two 500 laptops and that were awful.
Recently there have some $500ish laptops available that i wouldn't have a problem recommending for some light web browsing on infrequent use. Thankfully, even lowish end laptops have the performance that is good enough for many now. Gone are days of having to tell people they are looking at a dual core CPU with a HDD is the only thing in their budget.
QA/Build quality of almost all PC laptops has been a bit of a problem for a while now

Like a lot of things, it’s cheaper to have money. Cheaper in the long run to buy a laptop that will last 5-6 years than a cheaper one that falls to pieces, cheaper to buy a phone outright than payment plans, etc.
I think 1400 is a lot, still, but just keep an eye on the actual builds of these laptops.I think Dell make some good XPS laptops, and then a lot of extremely terrible XPS laptops.
The advantage of Apple is that, bar a couple of models in a couple of years, their shit has been extremely well built. You can pay the amount to remove the doubt, but you can also research to find something that’s also good but cheaper.
iOS15 has been pretty buggy honestly. Some of my touch inputs don’t register at all, I’m on an iPhone 12 and it looks like a lot of people have similar issues.

very frustrating that there isn't bullshit-free software that can clean up email subscriptions. Every time I help an older relative out they have 50k spam emails.

Every time I help an older relative out they have 50k spam emails. The Apple mail app lets you unsubscribe by pressing a button on the top of each email, I’ve used that quite a bit. Otherwise, no there’s no one way to unsubscribe your email from everything. I doubt there every will be something that does that for free.
By reilo Go To PostRIP Intel? What happened?
By Kibner Go To Post? What happened?Apple's new M1 Pro chip is ungodly good. Apple is announcing their new MBPs right now and it's going to shit all over i9 Macs.
For the M1 Pro, Apple promises 70 percent better CPU performance and twice the graphics performance compared to the M1. While the basic architecture is still the same on the M1 Pro, Apple is upping the hardware here in a big way, with a 10-core CPU that offers eight performance cores and two efficiency cores, along with a 16-core GPU with 2,048 execution units.
The new chip also supports more RAM, with configuration options up to 32GB (although, like the M1, memory is still integrated directly into the chip itself, instead of user-upgradable) with 200GB/s memory bandwidth. In total, the M1 Pro has 33.7 billion transistors, roughly twice that number of transistors that the M1 has.
But Apple isn’t stopping there: it also announced the even more powerful M1 Max, which has the same 10-core CPU configuration, with eight performance cores and two efficiency cores. But the M1 Max doubles the memory bandwidth (to 400GB/s), RAM (up to 64GB of memory) and GPU (with 32 cores, 4,096 execution units and four times the GPU performance of the original M1.) The M1 Max features 57 billion transistors, making it the largest chip that Apple has made yet. The new chip also means that you can connect up to four external displays to a single device.
EDIT: Damn you Pedoja

Apple also promised that the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips offer up to 1.7 times better CPU performance per watt compared to both the regular M1 and unspecified four-core and eight-core PC laptop chips^ the important bit imo

Until they're ready to do hole-punch cameras, that's gonna be their compromise. I'd rather they waited.
Could've just went with a thicker bezel at the top and nobody would complain, granted the notch would be less intrusive on a screen this size compared to a phone.
Notch but no Face ID is weird, but those look very good. Once again though, their space grey is just an uninteresting colour, not sure why there’s no black version.
All that said, internals are naughty fast though.
Given how expensive they are, and that I’ve not done much personal development in a while, it’s probably not for me right now. Maybe around the M3 Max

By s y Go To Poststarts at $1999i'd legit pay $1000 more for a version without a notch.
Wait, it doesn't have Face ID? lmao WTF Apple
Didn't realise Google's Pixel event was tomorrow. Interested in hearing more about Tensor.

featuring a huge jump in display technology for the company’s laptops, with Mini LED displays that support Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion technology.fuck yea
The larger 16-inch MacBook Pro has a 16.2-inch display with a 3456 x 2234 resolution, while the 14-inch model has a 14.2-inch panel at 3024 x 1964. Both sizes feature the same Mini LED technology that Apple debuted on the iPad Pro earlier this year, which offers local dimming on a level beyond traditional LED displays (although it’s still not quite on the level of OLED panels used by competitors like Samsung.)
ProMotion on a mac will be interesting, I wonder how well it'll play with the litany of other app types like Electron etc.
Also, wonder if MagSafe 2 plugs work on this thing, shape looks the same at a glance. MagSafe 3 is a USB-C to MagSafe cable, which is pretty cool
