By reilo Go To PostNah, my "2 year promotion" "expired" so I had to chat with an agent to get my old $70/mo rate back.If you want a hassle free way to get your old promo rate without calling in, DM their @Comcastcares twitter account.
It's worked for me the last 3 years.

im going through that now. it's weird.
By reilo Go To PostGotta love it when you wake up and your Comcast bill goes up by $30 this month for no fucking reason. Now I gotta talk to them, goddammit. But they said prices have gone down
Comcast just caved my chest in with a $190.00 bill. Promo expired plus 100 dollars in data cap surplus charges.
i hope my car blows up

Thinking I'm gonna replace the comcast modem and just pay for the unlimited data cap.
Good modem for 200 mbps internet?
Good modem for 200 mbps internet?
By reilo Go To PostAre you asking for a combo, as in modem + router or just the modem itself?I have a router but ideally I'd want a modem/router combo

Budget is like $150 max
$200 super max
you gotta say these things from jump
i'd just get a docsis 3.0/3.1 modem if you want to go the cheapest route, you already have the other half with the router.
By JesalR Go To PostI know it's early, but Windows still has so much cruft from xp in there, it's insaneremove anything and you have millions crying.
Microsoft should grow a pair. Redesign Control Panel, be an adult, implement a better solution.

I'll use this as another chance for me to bring up that Windows Server 2012 had a touchscreen optimized UI.

By Smokey Go To Postyou gotta say these things from jumpThinking I might replace the router too. Should I stick within the same brand of modem/router?

I definitely recommend keeping router and modem as separate devices. Something like an ARRIS SURFboard SB6190 for your modem should work totally fine.

By rodeoclown Go To PostThat centered taskbar has to go.
There's a leaked version that has the icons to the left in dark theme, which looks seemingly better than the light theme. I still don't know what's happening with the iconography/layout/colors/bottom right bar though.
By sigh Go To PostRecommendation for router around the same price?I'll be honest its been a while since I've looking into lower cost consumer routers. From some quick searching I would look at the Asus RT-AX55. I've had good success recommending Asus in the past and that is their brand new lower cost WiFi 6 model.
By reilo Go To PostI imagine there is probably an option to have it that way. After everyone lost their shit when they tried to get rid of the desktop and start button I don't see they being that forceful.

thanks a ton. I was gonna look into the mesh router thing Reilo mentioned but that seems pricey
I should be at $80/month with no cap and 200mbps for the next 12 months at least.

hmm Amazon doesn't have the SB6190 in stock but it does have the SB6183, which would also cover 200mbps as well, right?
By sigh Go To Posthmm Amazon doesn't have the SB6190 in stock but it does have the SB6183, which would also cover 200mbps as well, right? It would. The downside there is if next year Comcast decides to up their tiers to 400mbps then you won't be able to benefit.
Check out the black model, it should be in stock. https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-Surfboard-Certified-Cablevision-SB6190/dp/B06ZZGXJKM
Installed a few APs at my dad's house and fuck enterprise APs are incredible. Got some free Aruba IAPs from a friend's work. Shits just downloads the config once you connect it wired to the main router and it's set up. They don't need a hardware controller because the have a built in virtual one. First time experiencing such sublime mesh networking.
Yes, Aruba is excellent but so damn expensive.
Lots of home users get "enterprise grade" WiFi with Ubiquiti's UniFi systems and can recommend them for a higher end home system. They have some downsides compared to ones from Aruba or Meraki but are much cheaper. Though they did recently pretty badly screw up with a data breach but its still unknown what was leaked.

Yep when I saw that they are actually worth 1K an AP it all made sense. Crazy but happy I have friends in IT infrastructure.
Tried Lightroom on iPad for first time after taking some pics this weekend and was able to easily transfer pictures over from my camera by just connecting the two. It's silly but iPad wasn't necessarily able to do this easily just a few versions ago. Glad it works smoothly nowadays.
Man reilo I look back at how tedious simple things used to be back in the day now it's all so streamlined. Of course for custom situations still require custom solutions but man everything is so easy now.
Yea I am still using Lightroom Classic on desktop with a dedicated Loupedeck+ but even with the pared down interface it was really streamlined and fast to edit a few photos on iPad. Doing this on the go feels super doable without a lot of effort especially if you setup/streamline your process ahead of time.
