The Apple TV app is now available for Google’s 2020 Chromecast. It was announced in December that Apple’s streaming app, which offers access to its Apple TV Plus originals, would be coming to the awkwardly named Chromecast with Google TV. Starting today, owners of the excellent $50 device can download Apple TV and start using it..
WhatsApp has detailed what will happen to users who don’t accept its new privacy policy in an FAQ on its website. Starting May 15th, its functionality will become more limited, and users will no longer be able to send or read messages from the app. They’ll still be able to receive calls and notifications, but this will only be possible for a “short time.” Speaking to TechCrunch, the company confirmed this period will last a few weeks.Facebook is evil
The price of The Disney Bundle with Hulu (No Ads) will increase on March 26, 2021 to $19.99/month.Disney is wasting NO time. This shit is officially worse than cable bundling.
By reilo Go To PostDisney is wasting NO time. This shit is officially worse than cable bundling. What was it before? I didn’t even know that had a no-ad package. I have a free year through Verizon and it’s the basic package..
I’d watch more Hulu but fuck ads. They didn’t even offer to let me pay the difference like T-Mobile does if you want 4K Netflix.

I can see this being a yearly endeavor for them.

Is it worth switching to something else now that Lastpass neutered their free version? I'm not against paying for a password manager but Lastpass have soured me with the way they switched things up.

It came bundled with a security suite on the router I bought for my mom, though, so I haven't really had to use anything else.

Wait what did they do? I only just fucking finally set up lastpass a month ago
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostWait what did they do? I only just fucking finally set up lastpass a month agoFrom the 16th of March you can only use either the mobile version or the desktop version with Lastpass Free. If you want both you have to sign up for Premium.
I actually think it's fine they are trying to monetize it more, the price is just wrong. I'd be happy paying $10 a year or something..
How much is it? 1Password is $5/mo/user for their subscription service but the fact you can sync it to any cloud service via a custom vault is still free.

I think that 1Password price is the family version?
Anyone have any experience of knowledge about hardware wallets?
I'm getting to the point where I don't think it's safe anymore to keep it in an online wallet

The benefits are you have long (20+ characters) secure passwords that you don't have to remember and avoid reusing the same password (or variation thereof) across multiple sites which increases your chances of identity theft.
By Kidjr Go To PostWhat are the benefits to using a password manager?People will say convenience for not having to remember passwords but really its about security. Using multiple sites with the same password is maybe the most common way for account breaches to happen. Some crappy website might have their logins leaked, those credentials will then be used on other, maybe more important websites. MFA should mitigate a ton of the risk but I still have some important logins that aren't using MFA.
Absolutely hate this new mobile chrome update
I sure couldn't remember the 50+ logins i have across the web.
edit: i was late
I will say you will require a MUCH better password upfront to unlock your vaults.
So your password to unlock something like 1Password better be good, as well as your cloud storage login if you are syncing your vault anywhere better have strong authentication including MFA.

I see, but if someone got my password manager password they'd have everything no?
It's why I personally don't use wallets.

Most Password Managers will let you set up 2FA, which you should be using for something that important. Also, if given the option, avoid SMS based 2FA

By Kidjr Go To PostI see, but if someone got my password manager password they'd have everything no?Bruh you can never be 100% secure because of PEBKAC but longer passwords have way more permutations before you can break it and 2FA with the password manger helps mitigate the risk. Honestly if someone does a targeted attack on you it's difficult to even know you have been breached. These password managers just add an additional layer of protection.

With regards to your wallet comment, if you don't have a debit card that got compromised then you aren't even liable for unauthorised charges.
Had to spend Tuesday night working on this. The potential implications of this and the SolarWinds breach are potentially scarier than most will realize.

By Smokey Go To PostPreordered the Sonos Roamlet me know how good/loud the alarm clock is, if there even is a speaker feature.
Apple is gonna launch a new Ipad Pro this month and mines is broken. Gonna see how this affects the price of the ipad air.
By Smokey Go To PostPreordered the Sonos RoamI'm real tempted. Hard to justify given the number of speakers I have, but it'd be nice to replace the purely bluetooth speaker with something a bit more integrated

The new iPad Pros are expected to have a similar design as the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros released last March but have a better processor that’s “on par” with the speedy M1 chip in Apple’s newest MacBook Airs, Pros, and Mac mini, Bloomberg reports. Both models may also have improved cameras.
That's nice, there is no serious competition on the tablet market. That said, I already feel like I am not in anyway limited by my 2018 ipad pro, it can do whatever i need it to at all times.
Yeah, no apps I use feel like they're pushing my 2018 close to full power. Could be in prep for their AR stuff?
By jts Go To PostThey need to start putting Xcode on it.It sounds so much like something that Apple wouldn't do, but then so did putting iOS apps on Mac
By JesalR Go To PostIt sounds so much like something that Apple wouldn't do, but then so did putting iOS apps on MacMacOS running on ARM was the last real frontier. After that, any gatekeeping between platforms is purely artificial. Xcode compiled for ARM literally exists right now.
Yea, I can see it happening now especially since they have proper keyboard support. It just really comes down to performance longterm. Compiling an app on XCode while on battery power on a MBP guarantees you have 90 minutes or less to do your work.
Intel chief Pat Gelsinger: Too many chips made in Asia
Pat Gelsinger has said Intel will invest $20bn (£14.6bn) in two new fabrication plants in the US state of Arizona, in addition to a major expansion of an existing Irish facility in County Kildare.
"Having 80% of all supply in Asia simply isn't a palatable manner for the world to have its view of the most critical technology," Mr Gelsinger said.
"Every smartphone, every telemedicine, every remote worker, every remote education, every autonomous vehicle, every aspect of humanity is becoming more digital.
"And when it becomes digital, it runs on semiconductors.
"This is the heart of every aspect of human existence going forward. And the world needs a more balanced supply chain to accomplish that. We're stepping in."
