Living dangerously here.
Yeah think I finally found my new phone. No sd card fucking sucks though. Get those new galaxy buds free with it if you pre order, could sell them I guess.
Thinking of picking up a multi drive enclosure for my media server. Anybody have experience with them?

By Kidjr Go To PostRemember that time you all told me don't cheap out on laptops? I learned the hard way man.LOL common mistake. For things people get so much utility out of it's strange that they would cheap out on it especially when they can afford it.
I have high hopes for the next Macbook Pro. I suspect that unless you really need Windows, ultra portable or something inexpensive it might just be the closest thing we have had to a de facto go-to laptop that the industry has had in a long time.
got the s21 ultra and it's really quite a big jump from p20 pro, after they started introducing more of their own software which is shit, it has really slowed down and just been... bad.

Never been a Mac guy but it's something I would always recommend family members as it gives me less work fixing their shit pc problems.

Color? Thoughts on it?
Mine should be coming in the next few weeks (finally upgrading for the first time in 5+ years)
Was really wanting to get that blue version, but ended up on black.
Been some years now without Samsung, so no idea what's actually really new here. But it's just a great user esperience so far. Really quicks and good photos. Although us Europeans again got the worst hardware, with a slightly worse camera.
Also the phone feels extremely slippery. Might just end up getting a case.

By Zabojnik Go To PostLong story short, I wanna get rid of some cryptocurrency, 1300€ of it to be precise, and the fastest / easiest way for me to do it is to buy something desirable and sell it at a reasonable discount.I know a brass house that accepts BTC payments
I was thinking Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G 12gb/256gb, unless you guys can think of something much better in that price range.
By Kibner Go To PostSpigen makes good, affordable cases.
i already ordered that led flip cover. might send it back if i dont like it though

It's fine at first, but after a couple of weeks they just feel like it's taking an age to boot up even from rest mode, programmes are slow to open, and the whole thing creaks to a standstill when I have more than one thing open.
Is there anything out there that has generally bang average specs but a good CPU and decent RAM? I don't need to be able to play games or watch movies, just want one that runs fast and can handle multiple programs
It really can be a crapshoot. I've bought many Windows laptops for my dad for business use over the years and one $800 laptop will not be of the same build quality and reliability as another brand's $800 laptop. I seem to recall that I liked his IBM ones (while they were still a thing pre-Lenovo) the best.
But it also really depends on budget. There's a world of difference between $500 and $750 laptops, imo. If you can afford it, that $250 extra might save your ass.

Yep.
Never getting a 4gb ram laptop again. Wife was adamant we didn't need to spend money on a laptop for our 5 year old as was an last minute purchase. Got an 200 lenovo which are sending back.
Got the hp elite pad and dell latitude 5410, very happy.
even I didn't cheap out on my laptop. It's got plenty of issues but this $800 Asus is still pretty quick 5 years later.
I remember buying a $200 laptop for school, and it breaking like less than a month later and I was in a different country so there were no return options. Never again.

I bought a $700 Asus like 4 years ago and besides battery life this thing is still quick as fuck for anything. Always impressed by it. SSD were the real game changers. Would never spend more.
By JesalR Go To PostThose new M1 Macbook Airs are fantastic
Yeah they seem to finally be very good value for money. Still expensive if you are on a budget though, but then again, the budget windows laptops are usually not great either..

This is the least helpful reply I have received on the internet. I’m now gonna be a Milan fan.
Gosh, my photos really do pop on that screen. Think I will pick up an Apple pencil soon.
It’s a great tablet but it fully depends on what you want to do with it.
Be aware of full mouse cursor support these days if you’re into making it a laptop replacement. Plus the mandatory keyboard for that of course.

I bought a pixel 5 for my dad set it up for an hour. Going back to 60hz screen after this is painful.

My biggest use case by far.don't you feel the ipad is too big for reading sessions? I use my ipad mini 2 for manga and love it, but it's getting pretty old now, and frequently crashes on mangadex. I want to upgrade, but the ipad mini line seems pretty neglected. Thinking of just getting a full sized ipad, but feel I'd dislike the size increase.

I found the high refresh rate stuff entirely overrated.
You have to be scrolling like a crackhead to really care about the difference.

Thinking of just getting a full sized ipad, but feel I'd dislike the size increase. The latest iPad mini is snappy af, but yeah the design is almost 10 years old now. If they don’t pull the plug on it, the next update should bring it up to speed with the Air and Pros, and that must look and feel amazing on such a small size.
But frankly, I’m not a huge fan of the mini size for personal use. Not to mention the battery life that comes with.

Got a M1 Pro for my wife over Christmas. It's great. From browsing to editing in Final Cut, it's fast all over. Very impressed especially with it being their first shot at the chip.
You know those M1 chips are doing good things when Intel is releasing Office 365 performance metrics that have been optimized and hardware accelerated for an Intel chip. They're sweating.
Intel have been coasting for years so it's great to see them getting Eiffel Tower'd by Apple and AMD.

It's not great to hold but i've had no issues. I rarely read more than an hour anyway.

It's one of those that you never thought were that important but going back is impossible.

They're sweating.I had a meeting last week and someone from Intel was showing their numbers vs Ryzen. I almost spoke up but these marketing people don't know what they are really showing anyway.
The last time I did i got the "We can connect you with one of our experts" thing but I don't really want to argue with them.
